Introduction
Research is a process under which relevant data is collected and analyzed for better
understanding of the subject matter or topic and for better decision making. The research here
was concluded by conducting 5 activities which has helped me in attaining knowledge about the
research topic i.e ‘Advantages and Disadvantages of Business Process Outsourcing’. While
conducting the research, I learned about research and its practical implications. There were some
hurdles which I faced during research, but they were manageable. Moreover, during research I
got an opportunity to interact with respondents which helped me in experiencing and
understanding the difference of opinions of different people. The research has also helped me in
understanding the career opportunities I might have in outsourcing and the business structure of
outsourcing. The research has helped me to understand the importance of a well planned and
designed research. After the completion of research, I was able to understand how to select and
frame research topic, how the sample size is selected and the framing of literature review.
Therefore, with the help of research conducted, I can understand the importance of research and
how it can impact students, professionals or businesses.

Activity 1: Selection of topic
Selecting the topic of research was one of the hardest job to do in conducting the research
process. I was highly intimidated with various research topics as they help in gaining a lot of
knowledge. Unfortunately, I couldn’t pick all of them, and the choices to pick the right question
was tough. Sort this problem took me 4 days, I looked for answers of questions like my interest,
and topics on which I can get people to talk and help me to carry my research. Research topic is
one thing on which whole of the research depends. Choosing the topic was a challenge for me
but once I chose the topic, it became more and more interesting to carry the research on the
same. Since Business outsourcing is something that fascinated me for so long, I chose this topic
and carried my research.

Activity 2: Identification of resources required
As per my experience, this is a stage demanding wise decisions. It is the second stage of research
process. If the resources selected are not appropriate or relevant, then it may impact the whole
research work. The process of selection of resources has helped me to understand the basic
nature and response of people towards the survey conducted. The resources selected for the
research were both primary and secondary resources. It took me 3 days to conduct this stage. For
the research, it was important to identify the respondents who knew about the subject and topic
of research. A basic knowledge about the company Woolworths was also needed for the
research. The respondents also included the people associated with Woolworths and other similar
companies. For the secondary data, many websites, books, articles and blogs were referred. Here,
every article shared different opinions and it was difficult to evaluate the relevancy of these
opinions.

Activity 3: Collection of data
The collection of data was the most challenging activity conducted during the research. The data
was collected through both primary and secondary sources. A questionnaire was prepared for the
conduct of survey. It was difficult to prepare the survey questionnaire as it demands the coverage
of opinions of respondents about the topic. The preparation of research questionnaire has
although helped me in putting my knowledge and understanding of the topic to a piece of paper
and summarize it in most understandable way. This process took 2 days to complete. This gave
me the confidence to carry the research with more accuracy. The problem faced during the
collection of data was that the respondents were sometimes resistant to the survey and were no
willing to answer the questions. Though such resistance has improved my capabilities for
convincing any person. The problem faced during collection of secondary data was that some
articles and websites were not referred which made the data irrelevant to some extent. Although,
this has helped me in widening my research.

Activity 4: Presentation and Interpretation of Data
The presentation of data must be in a manner which is easily understandable. This activity
requires a researcher to be creative. During this activity, it was found that there are no set rules
for presentation of data. Until this stage, the data is raw and is not used for any purposes. Here,
the data must be presented in a way to make it relevant to the subject which took 2 days. This
stage has enhanced my presentation skills which can be used academically and professionally for
any further projects. It has taught me the difference between the relevancy of data for the
question involved. This stage involves visual presentation of data which makes it easy to
understand.

Activity 5: Analysis of Data
Undoubtedly, the analysis of data is a complex process. It is a stage where the research question
is answered. Presentation and analysis of any research report goes hand in hand. It is imperative
that the analysis of the research must be directed towards the objective of the research in firs
place. There were many challenges faced during the analysis such as there was limited time for
analysis due to submission deadlines and therefore, I had only 4 days to complete the project
report but working on such a time bound research has made my time management more
effective. The strategy used for analysis could not be applied appropriately due to its complexity,
but it was applied to a great extent to draw the relevant conclusions.

Conclusion
The experience of research for the project has been a challenging and motivating experience.
Research process is important as it contributes in attaining wider knowledge on research topic.
Research is useful for students, professionals, businesses and other governmental authorities. I
am proud of myself that I was able to contribute to a research which is useful for so many
people. The research has provided me with understanding about the research processes and the
implication of research findings. It has further helped me in understanding the factors that affect
research processes. The research has helped me in exploring better career opportunities and
understanding the real business world without being into it. Therefore, the research conducted
has been an exemplary experience both personally and professionally.
