Introduction
UK hospitality companies used to rely on the easy access of pol of workers from EU. This
access has been affected due to the rules of new immigration after Brexit. The heavy reliant
of UK hospitality industries are suffering or will suffer from the Brexit. Brexit mainly poises
the threat to getting access of EU low skilled labour. In future, recruitment of workers might
require the higher payroll costs. Many hospitality companies are also taking steps in the
retention of talent. In the paper, further discussion will be carried on the major impact of

Impact of Brexit on the HR recruitment of hospitality industry
It is true that hospitality industry has the biggest employee turnover rates. It do not have only
cost implication for the recruitment for the staff but also negatively impacted the productivity
and morale too. The uncertainty regarding the impact of Brexit is bringing considerable
challenges related to recruitment and staff retention for hotel operators. It is right that rising
cost as well as staff cost due to high “national wage legislation” has limited the affordability
related to offering of financial incentives in retaining staff. Due to the British decision to
leave EU, several people from the overseas are now applying for new jobs for the developers
of hospitality, labour costs are also increasing. It is seen that around 3 million people work in
the UK and most of these are EU nationals. Due to the pay rise, recruitment gap has been
seen in the hospitality industry.
In spite of the uncertainty in UK hospitality industry, it still ahs good level of investment
activity in the UK. Over the last years, Germany has however become more attractive. In this
regard, UK government is also required to assess the investment level in order to promote the
hospitality industry.
In order to attract the workers and retaining them, hotel businesses are required to bring out
the opportunities for career development and progression within the training and support
framework. It should also offer the flexible working practices in order to retain as well as
attract the people. By adjusting the working hours of employees to suit their needs can make
the significant differences between retaining as well as losing them. It is also required to
provide reward and recognition to the employees time-to-time in order to attract them. In
order to face the threat of Brexit on hospitality industry, hospitality industry is required to
bring positive changes.
