INTRODUCTION
Health and social care deals with requirements of people related to their health which
facilitate to fulfil them in proper manner. It includes the criteria to evaluate medical needs of
people by professionals in order to make them disease free in correct way. However, medical
professionals involve doctors, nurse, specialists, surgeons, psychologist and many more who put
efforts in different sectors (Pollock and et. al., 2014). Moreover, it is observed that service users
may attack on medical professionals due to unstable situation which create problem for
healthcare organisations. The given dissertation will focus on attack of service users on carers in
health and social care settings in United Kingdom.
BACKGROUND
The present dissertation is based on attacks by service user on healthcare professionals who
provide them care and desired medication. It includes the unstable mental condition of patients
due to which they become violent and attempt terrible actions. However, such service users may
also harm themselves and carers as well which impacts negatively health care industry.
Moreover, it is observed and analysed that such conditions create many difficulties for
professionals in order to provide care to patients as it results into several complications.
Meanwhile, it will describe about attacks on professionals by patients effects the health and
social care settings in United Kingdom.

LITERATURE REVIEW
The literature review refers a scholarly paper which involved present information with
substantive findings along with theoretical and methodological contributions for specific topic. It
involves the impact of attacks on care providers by service users in United Kingdom in the given
dissertation. Moreover, there is major reason behind such attacking actions including mental
disorders due which they are not stable mentally and take violent steps that harms medical
professionals (Brooker and Latham, 2015). Meanwhile, these attacks and violent behaviour of
patients create complications and difficulties for professionals in respect of conducting
medication procedure properly. Additionally, attacking behaviour of patients impacts negatively
on health care profession as it creates problems while conducting desired treatments.
METHODOLOGY
The methodology can be described as methods and techniques which helps to collect
required information & data for making desired results of given topic. It involves various types
of practices and methods which helps to collect needed information about present topic in order
to conclude more accurate conclusions in correct manner.
THEORETICAL PERSPECTIVE
The theoretical perspectives involve positivism and interpretivism in which are considered
as kind of research philosophy. In context of present dissertation, the interpretivism philosophy
will be used as it means that researcher involves to interpret elements of the study. Moreover, it
includes the criteria of philosophical tradition which seeks to understand actual scenario directly

regarding given problem. In addition to this, this method will provide support to observed
analyse real perceptions and experiences of care provider who get attacked by patients.
RESEARCH METHOD
The research methods refer to quantitative and qualitative method of type of data collecting
and utilise features to conclude appropriate results. Quantitative research includes structured
data, statistical analysis, objective conclusions, surveys and experiments. At the other hand,
qualitative research involves unstructured data, summary, subjective conclusions, interviews,
focus groups and observations (Baggott, Allsop and Jones, 2014). The present dissertation will
focus on qualitative research which includes aims relevant to social life and its activities, it will
helpful to understand actual reasons and causes about attacking of patients in care providers.
DATA COLLECTION METHOD
The data collection methods involve primary and secondary sources for gathering desired
information about particular topic. Primary sources include interviews, questionnaire, surveys
etc. whereas secondary sources refer to books, journals, articles and many more. The given
dissertation will use secondary sources to collect better information behind attacks of service
user on professionals in health and social care sector to make proper conclusions.
SAMPLING TECHNIQUE
The sampling method is helpful to select a collection of respondents for gaining their views
about specific problems of research. Sampling is probabilistic and non- probabilistic which
involves their several sub parts that are used as per requirements in different researches.
Moreover, the given research will utilise random sampling method for selecting desired
respondents respectively (Glasby, 2017).
DATA PRESENTATION AND ANALYSIS
The data presentation includes questionnaire which is based on given problem along with
utilising thematic data analysis in present dissertation accordingly. It involves to determine,
analyse and reporting pattern in data analysis along with conducting interpretation in proper
manner.

LIMITATIONS
The limitations of dissertation include lack of secondary resources for conducting research
on particular problems and it involves certain legal barriers in order to more appropriate
conclusions. It also involves the less accuracy of primary sources as respondents are not able to
answer questions properly during interviews or surveys.
OVERCOMING LIMITATIONS
The problem of lack of secondary and primary sources can be overcome by gathering
information from senior researchers who have already done study on the same problem (Kidd
Kenny and McKinstry, 2015).
