Title : “An investigation into the significance of managing communication issue within a
workplace of an organisation”. A study on ASOS
INTRODUCTION
Reflective essay:
Reflective is a cycle that is sued for making a self assessment of the learning aspects that
have gone through a practical scenario. Presently there is analysis of the reflection based on
overall learning that has took place and further there is consideration of new ways that can be
used for improving the learning quality (Knapp, Gottlieb and Handelsman, , 2017). There is
application of kolbs learning cycle and gibs learning stages to analyse the different stages of
learning for a individual.
MAIN BODY:
In the present research work I have worked ion the topic of the research that includes making a
assessment of the way communication issues are affecting the overall organisational functioning.
There has been application of secondary sources of information for the purpose of collecting of
the information that is related to the set objectives so that relevant conclusions can be obtained in
the course of allocated time period (Vogel and Rose, 2016).
I used online articles and view points of author to collect the necessary information on the
formulated objectives. The overall reflection can be done by use of Gibs reflective cycle:
It is one of the most popular reflective model that was developed by Graham Gibbs in the
year 1988 so that there can be a specific structure which can be provided to learning from
different experiences. It is offering a framework for the purpose of examination of overall
experiences to provide a cyclic nature according to different experiences that leads individual to
plan and learn from aspects that went well and some of the issues that didn't went well and
required improvement for future outcomes. There is analysis of the reflection by use of reflective
cycle as mentioned below:

Description: At this stage there is description of the experiences. In context of present
research work I have used many different sources to select the research topic. Based on that I
realised the importance of communication at workplace and decided to use it as topic for my
present research work.
Feelings: I was very confused in the beginning of the research as I was not sure whether
the topic I have selected will result into relevant outcomes (Roy and Uekusa, 2020). So after
starting the research for information related to the pre decided topic finally I was OK as there
have been lot of information that was easily available through different accessible sources which
I used in the present research report.
Evaluation: After collecting the information and then I started working on the evaluation
aspects. The collected information have to be divided according to the set relevant research
objectives because all the information was not useful for me. I have to us some chunks of I
information only. In this I decided to use Gantt chart so that I can properly divided the whole
available time period according to the different stages in which the research was decide to be
completed.
Analysis: In the course of present research work I collected all the information and then
evaluated it according to the set aims. In this my analytical skills were applied to reach to
relevant conclusion based on the collected information.

Conclusion: I have learnt lot of new aspects from this research work. Such as I acquired
skills of proper time management and the way practically Gantt chart can be used in order to
divided the available time period in different segments so that overall objectives can be achieved
according to specified deadline (Lam, 2018).
Action plan: It is the aspects that deals with the future planning of activities based on the
present experiences of the research. Such in course of present research work I have gone through
difficulty in managing the available limited resources to get maximum outputs. It has been on the
main issues and I feel that it is one of my weaknesses where I am not able to utilise my present
competency level according to specific requirements.
Kolbs reflective model:
It is a reflective model that is also regarded as the experiential learning. According to the
aspect of this model there is description of the experience of a individual that is reviewed,
analysed and further there is systematic evaluation that is done in three stages (Dennis, 2018). I
have used this cycle in the present reflection report to analyse the differer aspects of learning that
I have gone through in this research report:
Concrete experiences: It is the physical experience of a situation that makes a individual realise
and reflect systematically for learning something new. Based on the present research work I felt
that my overall communication skills have significantly improved. Further working as a leader in
the course of research work for the purpose of managing my whole team has provided me with
more confidence to deal with future situations in case of professional world.
Reflective observation: in the situation of making in depth analysis I sometimes failed to
properly delegate the responsibilities and as a result there were situation of no coordination
amongst the team members. So this has been the situation her I have to work to develop my
future skills in order to contribute more effectively towards assignment of roles according to
individual competence
Abstract conceptuality: it is a situation where I realised that I could have utilised the available
time period in more effective manner by using the resources in most effective manner since the
initial stages of the research work. For instance there was lot of rush in the ned stages of research
and this situation could have dealt in a more better manner if since the starting of the research
work.

Active experimentation: It is the stage at which the newly acquired knowledge is worked on
according to requirement of improvements. I have been working on improvements of my
existing skills that is the management skills and communication skills have to be improved in
order to focus on future research work (LaPlante, 2019).
From the above discussed different aspects of Kolb's reflective cycle it can be said that
there are different stages of skill learning that a individual goes through in a research work. It has
to be identified according to the contribution made towards overall self development process.
I also made a analysis from the whole research work that there are some of the weakness that
have to be improved in terms of skills management as a very signifiant aspects of the whole
reflection for a individual. Skill development in case of research will assist me in my future
research work.
In present report there is further reflection that is developed according to the Shon's
theory. In this there is a distinction that is established between the reflection taking place during
the event and the reflection that takes place after the event has occurred. Presently there is
application of the second aspects of this theory where there is evaluation of the reflection that has
to be done after the research work has been completed. Such as after the research work I realised
that I am not able to properly remember the different notes that could have assisted me in
completion of my research work.
I have also acquired the skill of interpersonal skills that is both non verbal and verbal
behaviours to interact with people whop were assisting me through this research work. Problem
solving skills have helped me in handling the challenging situation so that I can be a better
problem solver in case of real life obstacles and then asses all the bets options available before
reaching to a particular best course of action (Dunning, Heath and Suls, 2018) .
Personal development is not a one time action but it is a continuous activity that takes
place continuous in the life of a individual. For me the experience of this report has been very
helpful for the purpose of achievement of higher skills evaluation. Personal development &
personal empowerment is providing me a overall farmworker in setting of personal goals that
have to be inclined with the professional goals because together they contribute towards
personality development of a individual. I have been able to successfully develop some of my
existing skills that is going to assist me in future courses of actions and at same time I have
utilised my strengths to perform the work according to the set standards of performance.

CONCLUSION
It can be summarized from the above made discussion that reflection is very crucial
aspects for every individual to analyse the different learnings and further evaluate the process of
self development that took place for a individual. There are different self development learning
models such as Gibbbs learning cycle and kolbs learning stages to make a detailed analysis of the
learning in a more structured manner.
