1RESEARCH GAPS IN KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT IN E-LEARNING
There are very limited resources about the role of knowledge management in e-
learning media. To be more precise, very few previous research studies have dived deep
enough into unveiling the aspects of knowledge management from the perspective of adding
critical value to the e-learning media. Not many researchers in the past have focused close
enough onto identifying the key enablers of knowledge management that potentially affect
the way the e-learning media operates (Cheng, 2016). In other words, an extensive amount of
research gaps exist in investigating how the main objectives or goals of KM (Knowledge
Management) contribute towards achieving an advanced and efficient education system using
ICT (Information and Communication Technology) (Kasemsap, 2016). For this purpose,
there are ample amount of methods and ways through which the KM technologies and tools
can be adopted and applied to implement a smart e-learning system. Moreover, future
researches conducted on this topic will pave the way to undertake a meaningful study on the
common goals of KM and EL (E-leaning) and understand how the integration of KM and EL
can be used as a strategy for supporting and enhancing the professional development of the
learners (Zhang et al., 2015).
