Investigating Health Problems and Impact on Elderly People: Proposal

This research proposal focuses on analyzing the various health problems experienced by older adults. It aims to identify the types of health issues, evaluate their impact on the personal lives of elderly individuals, and explore the underlying reasons for their occurrence. The methodology includes an interpretivism research philosophy, exploratory research design, and an inductive research approach. A sampling method of 20 older people will be used, and primary data will be collected through questionnaires. Thematic analysis will be used for data analysis. The proposal also includes a literature review that highlights the increasing prevalence of health problems with age and their impact on the quality of life, referencing studies on chronic health conditions and their consequences. The ultimate goal is to recommend effective ways to mitigate these health problems within the older population.

INTRODUCTION
Aim
The main aim of this research proposal is “To analyse different kinds of health problems
that are suffered by old age people.”
Objectives
Main objectives of this research proposal are as follows:
 To analyse types of health problems faced by old age people.
 To evaluate impact of health problems on personal life of older people.
 To analyse reasons because of which health issues occur among old age people.
 To recommend ways in which health problems within older age people can be reduced.
Research Questions
Main research questions of this research proposal are as follows:
 What are different types of health problems that are faced by old age people?
 In what ways health problems can impact personal life of older people?
 What are the main reasons because of which health issues occur among old age people?
 Recommend some ways in which health problems within older age people can be reduced.
Rationale
Health problems are one of the main type of issues that are faced by older people. Some of
the health problems are physical while some of them are mental. Most of these issues faced by
older people are for long term that eventually degrade their overall quality of life. These issues
impact overall personal life of older people in many different ways (van der Pers, Kibele and
Mulder, 2018). It important to focus on reasons because of which these health problems are
faced by older people as it impacts overall quality of life of older people. Research in this field
will help in understanding different kinds of health problems that are faced by older people, ways
in which it affects them. This research is important as it will help in evaluating ways in which
these health issues or problems within older people can be reduced.

LITERATURE REVIEW
According to the view of Hilberink, van der Slot and Klem, (2017) as age of people
increases prevalence of health problems among older people increases. There are various kinds
of health problems that are common among older people out of which most of them are long
term health problems that are suffered by them. Getting older brings various kinds of unique
health issues that increases various kinds of challenges for older people in living a quality life
style. From a survey it was identified that, serious or chronic health conditions among older
people can also become one of the main reasons of increasing death rate of older people who are
above 60 years of age (van der Pers, Kibele and Mulder, 2018). Every year two third of deaths in
older people are because of these chronic or serious health problems such as cancer, diabetes.
Some of these chronic health problems are suffered by older people for longer time period or for
their entire life time because of which their overall medical expenses or expenditure also
increases. These health problems can impact personal life of older people in many different
ways. Different kinds of health problem affect older people in different manner such as: diabetes
can affect eating habits of older people or can affect their recovery speed.
METHODOLOGY
Research philosophy
It is a kind of belief that helps in gathering, analysing a data about a phenomenon. it
provides a framework of how entire study is done. there are various kinds of research
philosophies but out of those only positivism and interpretivism are mostly used. for this
research, interpretivism research philosophy will be used as it helps the researcher to interpret
research study elements in a better manner (Daniel, Kumar and Omar, 2018).
Research design
It is a kind of method or procedure which is used for collection and analysis of variables
that are specified in research problems (Haydon, Browne and van der Riet, 2018). There are
various kinds of research designs like: exploratory, descriptive and casual. For this research
researcher will be using exploratory research design as it helps in exploring the research question
in order to find solution of existing research problem.
Research approach
It is all about the process regarding several assumptions during the data collection as well
as interpretation. Thus it aids in identifying the research project. This approach divided within

several groups such as inductive ,deductive as well as adductive research approach. The scholar
here select the approach called inductive approach that can be begins with several theories as
well as observation. It can be also results within particular outcome (Daniel, Kumar and Omar,
2018).
Sampling
It can be explained as it can mainly focus on choose a specified member in large
population (Daniel, Kumar and Omar, 2018). There are also large amount of people that shows
interest towards the research project that directly impact the outcomes. There are two types of
sampling methods which are probability and non-probability. The scholar will take simple
random techniques as well as chooses the sample size of 20 older people.
Data collection
It is a sequential process for the collection of huge amount of information that are
relevant to the research project. Here to determine the result from the specific research problem
that can evaluates the accurate result. There are also two ways such as Primary as well as
secondary data collection methods.
The scholar will select the primary data collection methods for collecting information
gathering regarding case. It focuses mainly questionnaires as well as determines opinion by
consumers (Gray and Malins, 2016).
Data analysis
It focuses on process of cleaning, modelling, transforming the data as it discovered the
relevant information regarding the decision-making accompanied by the research project. The
data analysis purpose is to extract the data as well as imply in research as logical manner (Daniel,
Kumar and Omar, 2018).The researcher will be using analysis called thematic analysis to collect
the information as well as identify the appropriate information related to the case study.
