Self Reflection
This research had been a significant achievement for me as I gained the opportunity for
gathering knowledge in various grounds. It developed my knowledge in research methodology,
reviewing literature and my critical analysis skills. I was pretty much anxious at the initial stage
of my research, as I did not have any as such knowledge of conducting a research and preparing
a research proposal. The lecture notes that I received in the class and also the literature that I
went through in the literature review portion provided me lots of courage and guided me through
my proposal as I gained idea from them on how to carry out the process. The learning I received
from this course is not doubt valuable, not for this course, but also for the future researches that
are yet to come.
I found the experience that I gathered from all the class lectures and the research I did is
useful for the course as it helped me to develop the concept of the subject and the process for
carrying out a research. The learning has a wide range of applicability which does not constrain
in the course and the program. Of course, it will be helpful in the rest of the program, but it has
other importance in future career and also in everyday life. It enabled me to see things from
another point of view, which is the point of view of a researcher. I wish to stick in the field, for
which the knowledge will provide me an advantage in future research.
I would like to mention that I did not have in dept knowledge on the open data source or
how it could help in the innovation of a business. I only knew that open data sources are the
publicly available sources that are free of cost. For that I had to face many challenges on the due
course of the study. I went through a wide range of articles and journals to develop the idea
about open data sources and its involvement in various business organizations. I also went

through different policies of different nations on open data sources and the how they took
initiative to provide free data to the common people to form an idea of how things are in the
market. I came to know that, it is a recent initiative and the trend is gaining its popularity in the
present decade. I also came to know that the business can evolve them using this particular data
in terms of social and economic value which will benefit them in the economical grounds.
Customers’ opinion was always necessary for an organization in bring innovation as the supply
comes from demand. This process makes it easier for the business organizations to develop
rapidly as the customers gain more access to the company data. There are many opportunities
that are highlighted in the writings of various authors that are quite odd to believe. There are very
few articles that mentioned the disadvantages of the instrument for a business organization. If
there are some articles that tries to point out the drawbacks of the open data sources that too are
limited in small ground. It provides a great opportunity for me to carry out a research on the
negative aspect of it and find out the major drawbacks. Moreover, I learned business research
methodology to carry out the entire research which is no doubt a valuable tool for me. Reading
this wide range of writings of different authors, I improved my analyzing skills and evaluate
thing out of it.
The research created the opportunity for me to access these skills I have learned from this
course. I received knowledge in the particular field of methodology and also on the topic that
will supplement me to carry out future research in the same or different. I chose this particular
topic as it is trending these days and many businesses are using this for the development purpose.
I was only interested in learning the subject. As I went through the matter, I find it interesting
and helpful in the course and also for future life. I went to several articles in order to get a proper
idea of the topic and analyzed them for finding out further scopes of research on the topic.

Thereby, I formed a hypothesis that there must be a negative impact of the open data source. I
concluded my proposal with the statement that there are a wide range of opportunities lies in the
use of open data sources as an integral part of the business organization, but there must also be
some drawbacks of it which is yet to be discovered which can be an excellent opportunity for me
to carry my research forward.
From the above learning, I concluded that, though there are plenty of articles available in
the market, there are only a few articles available in the market on the drawbacks of open data
sources which makes it a wonderful opportunity for me to carry out the research and make it
limited to that particular ground. As there are not many articles available on the topic, the
secondary data collection will be limited to the only few. The research has to be carried forward
using the primary data collection methods in hand. The interview and the questionnaire will
prove to be useful in the particular field. I will need to focus on the business that are using the
open data sources but has to limit the research to the few businesses that have no sign of
innovation. Then the study will forwarded to the businesses that achieved great deal of success
using it. A comparison will be done on both to identify the major drawbacks and will also
propose the solution out of it.
