Literature Review
Various issues pertaining occupational safety and health programs among different employees is
something that has been gaining popularity across many regions in the world. Occupational
safety and health programs on the performance of various employees is capable of coming on
board with a wide range of effects that tend to expose the employees towards certain
environmental conditions that might alter the way they carry out certain activities within their
work environments. On the other hand, occupational safety appears to be of of the most
fundamental disciplines that deal with various parameters with an intention of eradicating
various conditions that are known to be attached to disease and injuries thereby promoting the
health conditions of various employees within an organization (Goldenhar et al. 2016).
Currently, various top management officials are coming on board to implement a wide variety of
occupational safety and health programs among the employees within their respective
organizations (Dave 2016). This is a move that aims towards fully addressing various health
issues that might be attached to the employees themselves as a result of the nature of the
surrounding environment thus ensuring that the lives of the employees are safe at all times in
order o make the entire organization to achieve a specific set of goals and objectives within the
stipulated time frame (Aidan Doyle 2016). As a result of the recent occupational accidents that
has been experienced across various organizations that are located in different parts of the world,
this has enabled quite a number of management officials to put much focus on some of the
importance associated with a wide range of health and safety practices that are being
implemented under various conditions. Moreover, improving the productivity of all the

employees together with their occupational health and safety has emerged as one of the most
essential field on interest across various countries in the world most so in the developing
countries. Some of the common characteristics that are attached to such industries majorly
include an inappropriate workplace design together with a wide variety of ill structured jobs
(Francisco 2016). According to the information extracted from social exchange theory, various
workers are known to have the capability of demonstrating commitments and even go as far as
performing to a certain extent where they believe that they are benefiting from most of the
activities that tend to be attached to their respective organizations. On the other hand, the
international labor organization together with world health organization has always been on the
fore front with an intention of improving the well-being and security of various workers who are
known to be situated in different places across the world. Several other organizations too have
also been able to come on board to adequately analyze some of the effects that are likely to
emerge as a result of the implementation of occupational health and safety programs of various
employees. Occupational safety and health programs has in deed brought about one of the most
significant changes as far as the performance of various employees is concerned (Anon. 2016).
In any given work place environment, health and safety issues are some of the major essential
parameters that are capable of adequately protecting the lives of various employees and even
going as far as showing them some of the things that they should do in order to keep themselves
safe at all times. It is indeed clear that a wide range of hazards are present in the current
environment of today. Due to this, it is the job of all the employers to ensure that the lives of all
their employees are kept safe at all times thereby eliminating them from the hazards that are
likely to take place as a result of various operations within the workplace (Tullar et al. 2012). It
is a job that is so important to an extent that various relevant bodies have been able to come on

board with a wide range of occupational safety standards together with regulation that are geared
towards governing the entire safety and health administration. At the same time, the effects of
occupational safety and health programs have been felt far and wide across many organizations
where this has provided them with one of the best opportunities to clearly express themselves
when it comes to the protection of the employees’ lives (Griffiths & García Peñalvo 2016). Ever
since the introduction of occupational health and safety programs were brought into various
organizations the performance of various employees has been moved to greater levels to an
extent that a good number of the organizations have always been confident with the
performances that their employees are capable of showing (Sesé eta al. 2012). Violating or even
neglecting the health and safety procedures within any given workplace is likely to lead to the
emergence of tremendous impact to the entire business thus making it to either loose its financial
status, productivity or even the employees themselves (Kim, Park and Park 2016). On the other
hand, potential hazards are always rampant in a wide variety of work environments. Due to this,
equipment, chemicals together with different behaviors are capable of causing various injuries or
harm to the employees who tend to use them for various purposes (Schulte and Chun 2016). As a
result of this, there is the need to adequately address occupational health and safety programs
among the employees for the to have a clear understanding of what is likely to take place within
their work environment and some of the best practices that they can be able to put into practice to
ensure that occupational health and safety issues are properly addressed among them without
encountering any challenges or even barrier related conditions. Leaders themselves should play
an essential role in creating awareness to ensure that these programs are implemented in a
reasonable manner (Coombs 2016).

Second part
There are quite a number of issues that tend to be incomplete in relation to various
aspects of occupational safety and health programs in the performance of employees. Firstly,
there has been an inadequate research related occupational health and safety thus making it much
difficult to come up with a perfect evaluation of on how occupational health, safety and
environment can be best implemented within the surrounding in order to come up with quite a
number of positive outcomes. There are quite a number of implicit assumptions that are made in
the research of this particular topic. One of the first and major assumptions is that occupational
health and safety normally emerges as a result of the various employees who are not aware of
what is taking place (Schulte et al. 2014). On the other hand, there is an assumption that relates
to various rules and regulations. The assumptions clearly states that when various government
bodies are capable of coming on board with various rules and regulations that targets the
boundaries of occupational health and safety, then issues related to occupational health and
safety programs of employees likely to be reduced thus leading to the emergence of quite a
number of positive contributions in the lives of various personalities. One of the major gaps that
are there in the literature review is that there is lack of appropriate information on the exact
number of various employees who are affected by poor occupational safety and health programs
within their organizations. This gap appears to be problematic since it doesn’t provide a humble
time to obtain various forms of adequate information that can be used for analysis of quite a
number of scenarios. On the other hand, an inadequate creation of awareness also appears to be
another gap since there has not been an appropriate and reliable creation of awareness among
various personalities regarding how occupational health and safety programs are likely to take

place together with how its effects are likely to emerge when it is not properly handled according
to what is required. It is a gap that is really problematic since it makes various personalities not
to be aware of what is taking place thus making it difficult for them to evaluate what should be
done in order to avoid various conditions of poor indoor quality. On the other hand, the gap has
also contributed towards the increase of various deaths resulting from poor implementation of
occupational health and safety.
Research questions
(1) What are the effects of poor occupational safety and health programs?
(2) How best can occupational safety and health programs be implemented in an
organization?
(3) What are the importance of coming up with adequate rules that are geared towards
governing occupational safety and health?
How and why the answers to the questions would contribute to solving various problems in the
literature review
All the answers to the questions would contribute to solving some of the problems that
have been highlighted in the literature review by coming up with a wide range of analysis of
various situations and parameters thus making it much easier to understand how occupational
safety and health programs can be handled under various conditions. Moreover, the answers to
these questions appears to be more clear and precise thus avoiding any confusion that is likely to
emerge. This further ensures that the problems that have been highlighted in the literature review
are adequate solved within the stipulated time frame. Finally, the answers to the questions have
the capability of encouraging the implementation of various parameters in order to scale up the
rate at which occupational health and safety programs are being implemented.
