Section 1: Comparing two Research Methodologies
1.1 Research Problem
The respective research is focused on the analysis and selections of appropriate research
methods as well as instruments in order to analyze the impact of training and development on the
overall employee performance within an organization. The research will specifically focus on the
importance of training and development as well as their impact on the performance of the staff
members within the workplace (Aguasvivas and et.al., 2020). Employees who receive effective
training as well as development opportunities are able to perform in a much more productive
manner and also contribute to the company’s performance as well. there are different training
measures that can be adopted by a company in order to help its employees develop new skills as
well as enhance their existing knowledge. Although there are different studies that have been
conducted on this topic, but this research will provide a modern view of the same. The research
question for this research project is:
“What is the impact of training and development on the employee performance within an
organization?”
1.2 Selected key readings
Relevant literature key readings for this research project include reports as well as
researches on training and development, various research articles on the impact of training and
development on employee performance (Boone, 2021). Training and development are an
important component that can contribute to the overall performance of the employees as well as
the company to a great extent. An article by Jerry Shaw on the effects of training on employee
performance states that companies can gain numerous benefits by providing effective training to
the employees (EFFECTS OF TRAINING ON EMPLOYEE PERFORMANCE: A CASE STUDY
OF UNITED NATIONS SUPPORT OFFICE FOR THE AFRICAN UNION MISSION IN
SOMALIA, 2014). Besides this, it is also mentioned that training and development help the
organization in saving time as well as costs. This must reduce duplication of effort in the place of
business, the time spent correcting errors and the problem fixing essential to correct terrible
performances (Carey, 2021). Improved overall performance from employee education can lessen
group of workers turnover, decrease maintenance charges by means of reducing system
breakdowns and result in fewer customer proceedings. Better overall performance from

1.3 Two appropriate research methods
As discussed, training and development both are essential components that contribute to
the overall growth as well as the success of the company. The articles that have been referred to
in this project include the use of different research methodologies such as secondary data sources

or even questionnaires. One of the studies included the use of secondary sources such as books
and reports. The researcher has applied the methods in an effective manner and in a structured
way. The author has properly arranged all of the information that was gathered and analyzed in
an effective manner.
Although there are various studies that have been conducted on the respective topic, there
are still some of them that do not exactly explain the impact that training as well as development
have on the overall productivity and performance of the employees within the company. Another
research method that has been used in one of the articles is a questionnaire (Cristia and et.al.,
2021). A questionnaire comprises of the different questions that are based on the topic of the
research and hence allows the researcher to gather effective as well as reliable information for
the study. A questionnaire is time as well as cost effective and ensures that first-hand as well as
reliable information has been gathered from the respondents or participants of then research.
Model to Support Research Method
One of the models that can be used to support the choice of research method is
descriptive models. This is because it will help in explaining the relationships between the
different variables in an effective manner. The descriptive studies approach mainly makes a
specialty of describing the character of a demographic section, without focusing on “why” a
specific phenomenon takes place (Dossett, Kaji and Dimick, 2020). In different phrases, it
“describes” the challenge of the research, without protecting “why” it happens. The intention of
using close-ended questions in a descriptive version is to draw concrete conclusions
approximately the respondents. This can be the want to derive styles, trends, and behaviors of the
respondents. It could also be to apprehend from a respondent, their mindset, or opinion
approximately the phenomenon.
As already mentioned, there are different research methods that can be used for the
research. There are two research articles that have been reviewed in this report such as secondary
methods as well as a questionnaire. A questionnaire has been used in the first reading in order to
gather information from the respondents to ensure that effective as well as reliable information is
collected from them. The respective research method of a questionnaire has been applied by the
researchers by taking into account the need of the study. A questionnaire helps in saving time as
well as unnecessary costs (Fletcher and Adiguna, 2020). The researcher has analyzed the
and reports. The researcher has applied the methods in an effective manner and in a structured
way. The author has properly arranged all of the information that was gathered and analyzed in
an effective manner.
Although there are various studies that have been conducted on the respective topic, there

questionnaire in an effective manner and presented the analysis in the form of tables and graphs.
Apart from this, the interpretations have also been presented by the researcher in order to ensure
that the readers are able to develop a proper understanding of the same. It can be said that this is
one of the worthwhile contributions to the research. This is because by using tables as well as
graphs, a researcher is able to ensure that the readers develop effective understanding of the
research topic. Also, this is helpful for any researches that are conducted in the future.
While deploying the method, the researcher ensured that a brief description about the
research methods was provided. This helps in providing an outline of the research to the readers
so that they are able to develop a basic understanding of the same. The same size of the research
was also provided by the research. It is important to include and define a sample while
conducting a survey using a questionnaire (Harrison, Reilly and Creswell, 2020). This is because
it helps in collecting effective as well as reliable information from the respondents in order to
ensure that the research is conducted in an effective manner. The questionnaire in the research
was structured based on the research question. It has been mentioned in the research that a
questionnaire was adopted because it ensures that the data collection is standardized. This means
that each respondent in the sample got same questions to answer. The researcher has ensured that
all of the information that has been included in the research is reliable as well as valid.
Apart from this, there were also different gaps that were identified in the two research
articles that have been reviewed. The limitations of a study can affect the overall outcomes as
well as findings of the research. Therefore, it can be said that it is important for the researcher to
take into account the various limitations as well as risks that can potentially impact the overall
study as well as its findings (Jaramillo, 2020). In the respective two articles, it has been observed
that the research methods have been deployed in an effective manner to ensure that the study is
completed well within the timeframe as well as that the findings are authentic. In the first
literature that has been reviewed, it has been found that the researcher has referred to different
sources of information in order to gather the most effective ones as well as ensured that from all
the information only then most relevant to the topic has been included in the study. This is an
important thing that has been taken into account and hence, it has been observed that the findings
of the study are effective.

For instance, leveraging the findings from studies that the authorities has performed
provides researchers with get entry to a extent of information that would have in reality been not
possible for the researcher to amass themselves (Koole and Jan, 2020). Longitudinal facts at this
scale is extremely effective. The authorities might have been gathering facts on a single populace

There are different pros and cons of the research method that has been used in the
research “EFFECTS OF TRAINING ON EMPLOYEE PERFORMANCE”, the researcher has
used a questionnaire. One of the pros of this was that the researcher was able to structure the
questionnaire as per the research questions. Also, the questionnaire was structured in such a
manner that there were four different parts in the questionnaire and each of these parts included
different questions that the respondents had to answer (Kowarski and Moors‐Murphy, 2020).
Apart from this, another pro of the methodology used in the research methodology is that it

of the same. The pros of questionnaire, as already mentioned, include faster collection of data.
Also, the data that is gathered from the respondents is first hand as well as reliable and hence,
can help in making useful conclusions. If the questionnaires are designed effectively, they can
ease up the process of data collection and also, help in ensuring that the results that are obtained
are useful and help in making valuable conclusions based on the findings of the study.

amount to download the already existing information. Websites have plenty of statistics that
agencies or corporations can use to in shape their research wishes. However, organizations want

Business Development Centers have valuable and applicable data that agencies or corporations
can use. There is a positive value relevant to download or use facts to be had with those
corporations. Data received from these agencies are genuine and straightforward.
Importance of collecting facts from educational establishments for secondary studies is
often overlooked (Krause, 2021). The researchers tend to use questionnaire method for the
process of data collection in their research because it is easy to use and also, the researcher can
tailor the questions based on the requirements of the study. Also, there are certain cons of using a
questionnaire for the process of data collection such as sometimes, the respondents might not
provide the accurate answers for the research. Hence, this can have a negative impact on the
overall findings and the outcomes of the study. Apart from this, there can be some questions that
are left unanswered which can affect the quality of the study to a great extent. hence, it is
important to make sure that these negative impacts are overcome or eliminated (Ruffa, 2020).
Apart from this, there can also be case wherein the researcher finds its difficult to understand the
responses provided by the respondents as well as interpret the same. This can affect the findings
of the research to a great extent and also affect the overall outcomes. Hence, it can be said that it
is important to ensure that the respondents or participants are aware of the study and its
objectives and hence, they will provide effective responses for the same.

Section 2: Instrument and Conclusions
2.1 Instrument
A questionnaire can be defined as a research instrument that comprises of a series of
questions that are based on the research questions. It is an economical manner of amassing
statistics. It is most economical both for the sender and for the respondent in time, effort and
cost. The cost of undertaking the look at with the assist of questionnaire method may be very low
(Thomann, 2020).
The primary purpose of a questionnaire is to help the researcher in obtaining the reliable
as well as authentic information from the respondents. It is widely used in research for the
process of data collection. It can include both close as well as open ended questions based on the
need or requirement of the study (Trull and Ebner-Priemer, 2020). Questionnaires are flexible
research instruments and allow the researcher to make changes in the same as and when required.
but when the questionnaire is used, the researcher should always obtain informed consent from
the respondents as well as provide them a brief about the research and make sure that they are
aware of the same. Hence, it can be said that these are the different pros as well as cons of the
respective research instrument and that it should be taken into account by the researcher to make
sure that the research is carried out in an effective manner.
I believe that a questionnaire is an important research instrument that helps in gathering
first-hand as well as reliable information from the respondents. While designing the
questionnaire, I have taken into account the research question in order to ensure that the
questions in the questionnaire are relevant. Also, I think that the questionnaire is an important
and widely used research instrument that can help the researcher in gathering effective
information. Also, during the process, the target respondents were defined clearly and the
question type was also chosen in order to make sure that they were clear and easy for the
respondents to answer (Zanesco, 2020). The question sequence was decided and before the
actual process of data collection, a pilot survey was conducted. This helped me in understanding
the attitudes of the respondents and if they were comfortable in answering the questions. I did
this because I felt this would help in gathering effective information about the research topic
from the respondents. Hence, I have learned many things as well as developed various skills that
