Introduction
A communication disorder is the inability of an individual to understand, identify and
apply either speech or language while making a conversation with the other (Norbury 2014).
However, music tends to play a significant role in the individuals who tends to suffer from such
issues or disorders in communication or speech. This study tends to focus on the importance of
the music for the individuals who tends to suffer from speech or some form of communication
disorder
Background of the study
Studies that have been conducted in this field indicates that about six to eight millions of
people tends to suffer from some of speech disorder. In order to recover from the problems of
speech, these individuals tends to take help from the pathologist of the speech language who
sometimes combines suggest the music therapy for recovering (Farnell 2015) According to the
Association of the American Music Therapy, the therapy which are related to music tends to
address the physical, cognitive, emotional and even the social needs of all the individuals
belonging to all stages (Orlikoff, Schiavetti and Metz 2014).Therefore, this assignment tends to
understand the importance that the music has on the people suffering from some form of disorder
in the speech.
Research aims and Objectives
The main significant aim of the research is to understand the importance of music for the people
suffering from disorder in speech .
The main objectives that lies behind the conduction of the research are as follows:

2) To explore the different ways in which music helps the individuals suffering from speech
disorders
3) To demonstrate how music helps the individuals from progressing from the speech
disorders which he or she tends to suffer from.

Q1. What is the importance of music in the lives of the individuals who are suffering
from disorders in speech?
Q2. What are the different ways in which the music helps the individuals who suffers
from speech disorders?
Q3. How music tends to help the individuals from progressing through the speech
disorder which they tend to suffer from?
Literature Review
Effects of music therapy in the treatment of children with delayed speech development-
results of a pilot study.
The development of the language is one of the most important process of early childhood
development. The music therapy tends to have great impact upon the children who tends to
suffer from some form of speech disorder. 18 students of the age group of 3.5 to 6 years
suffering from late development of the speech was being observed (Groß, Linden and
Ostermann 2010) It was being observed that the phonological therapy as well as the

understanding of speech by the children tends to get enhanced of the students who got music
therapies. On the other hand, it has been observed that the cognitive framework, pattern of the
action as well as the standard of the intelligence tends to have increased of the students who got
the music therapy. Thus, it can be said that the music tends to give the children with the therapy
which is very much basic and yet supportive to the children who tends to suffer from delayed
improvement of their speech.
Research Methodology
Data collection Method
The process of the data collection is considered as the process to assemble and even
measure the information over the targeted variables in an organized manner. However, the
process or the procedure for the collection of the data is divided into two groups which are
namely the primary and even the secondary data collection method. (Gale et al 2013). It is to be
noted that the conducting the questionaires, surveys or interviews within a small group of
individuals tends to fall under the category of the primary data collection method (Walliman 2017)
On the other hand, it is to be noted that the secondary data collection method tends to use the
researches that is also being done in the past in order to collect information’s from various
sources like the journals which are reviewed by the peers, the articles etc (Clemence, Doise and
Lorenzi-Cioldi, F 2014) However, in this assignment, the technique of primary data collection must
be utilized by simply conducting a survey within 50 indivduals who tends to suffer from some
form of speech disorders.

Data Analysis Method
This is the method which is being utilized for the purpose of examining, cleansing,
changing and even designing the information’s with the main purpose to give support to the
process of the decision making (Nuzzo 2014). It is also being utilized for the purpose of
discovering details and even suggest various conclusion from that research that is being
conducted (Heeringa, West and Berglund 2017). The two major types of the data analysis method
are the qualitative and the quantitative data analysis technique.
Sample Size
The sampling technique that will be utilized in the research tends to include both the
probability and the non-probability sampling. However, apart from this, the most simplest
method of random sampling will be utilized for the study for the purpose of gaining enhanced
understanding of the topic. It is assumed that about 50 people suffering from some form of the
speech disorder will be requested to take part in the survey that will be conducted.
Ethical issues
Strict guidelines must be utilized during the conduction of the research. None of the
participants will be forced to take part in the survey. On the other hand, a form of consent must
be given to the people who are willing to take part in the survey and which they must sign.
During the conduction of the secondary research, it is very important to give references as well
as avoid any form of activity of the plagiarism. No kind of approach should be taken for the
purpose of violating the regulation and norms.

Research Limitations
It is very much significant to have many limitations while conducting a research. The frame
of time is always considered to be a major limitation of the research (Shipman 2014). On the
other hand, the availability of the resources tends to another form of limitation of the research.
Situations may happen that some amount of resources while conducting the research is
unavailable (Queirós, Faria and Almeida 2017). On the other hand, one of the limitation is that the
responses that are being gained form the participants might not be good enough to come to a
good conclusion (Boyko 2013) Additionally gaining permission from the people for the purpose
of conducting survey might not always be very easy.
However, it is to be noted that before the conduction of the research, proper planning
must be ensured in order to avoid any sort of issue’s.

After forming the framework of the research, it can be assumed that tough people tend to
suffer from some speech disorders, it is very much possible for them to overcome through the
utilization of the music or through the music therapy as music tends to have a positive influence
on them.
