Professional practice portfolio
According to Michelle Clarke (2019), in the nursing there are many of the nursing staff
which are there with certain experience during patient care and support that is during surgical
surgery. In this, nursing staff is able to learn many things like skills and knowledge etc. which is
further used in different professional work. This helps to establish strategic records of
professional activities, personal and academic activities. In this there are some of the
qualification which is required for the different position that are being entered in the academic or
workplace along with this when there is transferring for new role (The importance of a
professional nursing portfolio, (2019)).
According to Andre (2020), there are mainly three of the reason for which there is need
to maintain professional portfolios. In this, it helps in providing evidence for continuing
competence. Along with this, this helps in developing lifelong learning along with reflective
practices. This also helps in the career planning in which these are the one which can be used in
development of career that is there professional. These are the one which can help to get better
help in future. These can help in continuous development either personal or professional (How to

A professional portfolio referred to a structured collection of some selected materials
which are able to provide credible evidence of employment of nurse's, their educations and
professional development over the time as health professional. Presently there are number of
nurses those are using professional portfolios therefore to maintain their learning and evidence as
well as reflection and in addition to explain that they have been met their professional
requirements. The portfolios, they facilitate group of nurses to manage their registration and
revalidation documents in one place, so these could be easily produced while required as well as
updated whenever these documents are needed, these includes an example job applications and
reviews performance. In this process all nurses are required to continue their activities related to
the professional development as well as to enhance their practices and knowledge , and further to
maintain and update the activities, then furthermore they could use their portfolios for the

and creating portfolios helps nurses to find their learning needs and strengths as well as to
improve a learning plan in order to address their needs. The main purpose of portfolios is to
document and categorize skills, abilities, and knowledge and growth and progress as an

professional. Creating a portfolios invites nurses to engage creatively by the below mentioned
followings;
 They establish a academic and strategic record and maintaining the professional
activities.
 They do guide critical decisions which are related to the volunteer activities and personal
choices.
This is the one which provides the better understanding of the role which can help to
direct and to maintain safe along with clinically competent practice of nursing. It is important in
playing role of professional to promote along with to guide the clinical practice. There are some
of the reason to use the professional portfolio practice like they are able to generate credibility,
can offer the reminder of outstanding achievements, give separation from other, provides the
chances for slow creativity. In this, there is continuous development in the practices of nursing
which is there able to provide better development in future (Developing a professional nursing
portfolio, (2015)). There re different challenges which are there for the professional portfolio
practice which are like to there is need for time and in short duration of time, it is difficult to
implement the portfolio in the nursing practice. There is also some issues like leadership,
governance and grants which are there able can effect the professional portfolio practice.
Capability of nursing staff refers to the safe introduction for better care in new models,
procedures and different therapy along with subsequent roles like some advanced role of
practices. In this, there is new learning of using different techniques and skill which are there
able to provide better care to the patients along with some new and advance learning which can
help to get better help to the patients.
Recommendation component
In professional portfolio practices there are some of the suggestion which can be applied
in relation to provide better understanding the role and different responsibilities which are there
for the nursing staff. In this, there is need to continuous learning of new sills and different
learning which are there can help to provide better care along with the use of new and advanced
learning that is able to provide and learn new techniques which can be use for the practice of
nursing. It is recommended that there should be use of new and advance learning of technology
which can help to provide better treatment and care to the patient who are there required for
nursing staff (Nursing portfolio, (2017)).

Application of professional standards
There was a time when there a patient who meet with an accident and come for the better
treatment. In the accident patient has broken his hand and blood was flowing out form his head.
In this, time there was very important role of the nursing department which was there to help
them and also to provide theme the first aid treatment to patient. In context to this there was also
role of the doctor in relation to check-up the patient and in this there was also the role of the lab
attendant to check up to find out the injury which can be find out be using different tests. These
tests can help to find out the different injury which happened due to meet with an accident to the
patient. There was also role of the family member who need to came and to help the patient with
different requirement and to full fill the basic procedure and paper work which is there in the
registration process. In this, different staffs were engaged for the better treatment and care of
patients in relation to keep his life safe (The nursing portfolio: a reflection of a professional,

Reflection
As a nursing staff, there was the condition of the patient in which there was so much loss
of blood from the head of the patient. There was also engagement of many staff along with
doctors and nurse. Mainly there was engagement of the doctor which was there for the proper
check-up and necessary stitching and surgery. After the treatment, there was the main role of the
nursing staff in which there were many decision before and after the surgery which was to take
different decision, actions and behaviours along with responsibilities. In relation to this, there
was one of the main responsibilities was done by the doctor and after this, there were different
responsibility of nursing staff which was there needed to respond. This was the one which was
very fulfil for the patient. Ther4e were role played by me which was the role of the nursing staff.
When the patient was brought to the hospital, he was in very bad condition. I was there to attend
that patient and I find out that there were high flow of blood and hand of the patient was broken
which was noticed by me when I put his hand which was there out of control during bringing
from the stretcher. Seeing flowing blood was totally fearful but I was strong and due to learning
from the training I was able to handle this situation calmly. There was the change that to get
fearful but I was totally in control. I have decided to place some cotton on the place where there
were flow of blood. Then I was there with him and providing the care which should be there and
needed for him. After the surgery, there was role of mine which includes the time to time

medication and different responsibilities which was there in relation to provide better care and
treatment for being well as soon as possible. There were different decisions which I have taken
in different situation when I was there playing the role of nursing staff. Along with this, there
were many of the care and services have been provided by me to the patient which was there in
relation to provides better health care. So, I can help the patient to control the situation and to be
with better mental and physical health. There was the time when the patient came with accident
there were many of action taken immediately which I have learned in my healthcare practices
during the learning period. I have had my better behaviour which was cool and not getting
nervous which help me out in to take the best decision which was according to case.
There are many application of the relevant professional standards which help a lot to
learn the nursing staff different roles and responsibilities of the nursing staff which can help
them to provide the better care to the patient. There are different application which is relevant to
the standard (A Time for nursing portfolio, (2017)).
