Description of the topic
The main topic which is discussed in the report is to take into consideration the
payment disputes which occur in commercial projects in Australia. It can be stated here that
the concept of project management can be considered as very much vital in this context due
to the factor that most of the projects overall working depend on this factor. It is very much
crucial to take into consideration the basics of project management so that the project reaches
the desired level of success without any type of discrepancy involved into the working.
Project management process can be hampered in a way if there are any sort of payment
related disputes acting into the working of the project (Nicholas and Steyn 2017). One of the
main factor which can be related in this context is the communication aspect between the
owner and the contractors. There has to be a proper aspect of communication which should
be prevailing into the working of the project so that there are no other issues faced within the
working of the project. In actual condition the role of the project manager is very much
crucial in this context due to the factor that the initial planning and the documentation of the
project is done from the end of the project manager. There are different conditions which are
taken into consideration by the project manager so that the project does not face any type of
abrupt conditions. As stated in this context by (Smith and Dodds 2017) the payment related
aspect can directly lead to project to the factor of failure due to the alteration in the working

5RESAERCH IN PROJECT MANAGEMENT
As stated by (Kerzner and Kerzner 2017) in the process of project management the
aspect of scheduling, controlling and planning are very much vital. They hold the basics of
working of the project and execution of the project. If these three factors are taken into
consideration into the working of the project there would not be any type of problem in the
working of the project. As stated in the article the planning phase can be considered to be
directly linked with the budget of the project. On the other hand the budget of the project is
linked with the payment aspect of the project. Scheduling aspect can also be linked with the
payment aspect due to the factor that if there are problem in the scheduling it can hamper the
payment of the contractor and the subcontractor. There should be a proper planning which
should be incorporated within the working of the project due to the factor that the overall
execution of the project would be dependent on the planning which is done in the initial
phase of the project.
Critical appraisal of the topic
In majority of the cases it is seen that planning of the project is not done properly
which directly impact the sector of execution of the project. In this regards it can be stated
that the planning of the project is majorly done by the project manager who has the overall
control of the project (Smith and Dodds 2017). As seen in the article there are different
parameters within the working of the project which affect the payment of the sub-contractor
and the contractors. There should be a documentation of the payment related challenges
details which are sometimes very much referred to as a legal document which the team and
the owner should be referring and following. It forms a basic guideline which forms the
execution of the project and the different payment details of the project (Bucero and Englund
2015). There are different project management scenario which can be included within the
internal as well as external working of the project which can help the project to execute

properly within and type of risk factor included into the working. The aim of the aspect is to
deliver the project with the predefined framework of working.

Self-reflection
I have majorly come across different functionality which is related to the process of
project management and how it directly helps in the proper orientation of a project. There are
different types of risk factors which can be involved into the working of the project which
can hamper the normal flow of the project and execution of the project. According to me the

payment related aspect can be considered as one of the most crucial parts in the project which
can directly decide the fate of the project. According to me there should be a proper
documentation of the process of execution of payment so that there no issue challenges faced
in the sector of payment within the working of the project. The mitigation aspect which is
related to the payment can be considered as crucial so that there are no problem in the sector
of the execution of the project. Sometimes it can be stated that risk factors are inevitable
within the working of a project but the main factor which should be taken into consideration
should be to mitigate the problem. For proper execution of a project there should not be any
type of problem related to payment due to the factor that it can directly hamper the success
factor of the project. According to me there can be few process which can be implemented in
the working which can directly reduce the risk factor within the appropriate functionality of
the project.
