P2 Primary and Secondary Research-
There are different types of research method that could be taken into consider by
researcher for conducting research. Two type research methods are taken into consideration are
as follows-
Primary Research- Primary research is includes collection of fresh and current data
which can include data for peculiar subject that is gathered for first time, then this
research is prime one. New and original data are being collected through primary
research. It implies 'first and foremost' or when it must be linked to the research which
state that depth exploration of data could be done researcher through communicating with
individual.
Advantages and Disadvantage: The raw data has been collected by the researcher. Data's are
specific as per the needs and requirement of project. It had particular process involved in it. It
can cost high but it had more reliable data and information which is helpful in conducting the
research effectively. This research is much time-consuming as it includes face-to-face contact
among their consumers. For getting best research the researcher will be needing skills for market
research. Attracting the wide range of consumer for survey, questionnaire is much challenging.
Secondary Research- It is the method of research which involve usage of data, that is
gathered by primary research (Bøe, Hognestad and Waniganayake, 2017). The major
difference among both of them is that they rely on fact whether research is to be
conducted previously or not. This includes interpretation, analysis and summarization of
the primary research. The data is gathered through readily available source. The data of
researcher's choice is being selected.
Advantages and Disadvantage: The information which is gathered are interpreted and analyzed
before by someone else. It cost very low and less time-consuming. The data's which are being
collected may or may not be as per the researchers need and requirements. Analyzation of
secondary data is tricky as researcher is not aware of what is being involved in primary
reaseaerch. It could be risky for having a critical decisions in business that can be launching of
new product.
P3 Implementing primary and secondary research using suitable method-

Cost-
For conducting these research it will be required costing for several methods that can be
used by £5,000. There are many costing which will be furthered beard by researcher while
conducting the research.
Access-
The data and information which is collected by the researcher are authorized and
authentic web sties (Snyder, 2019). No fake website or sources are utilized for collecting the data
of research. The websites which officially published the data on their website and which is
appropriate to their consent are being used for conducting this research.
Ethical issues-
Research has been conducted by considering the ethics in it. No one of the respondent are
pressure and forced for having a particular consent on such. The all authorized and authentic data
have bee used for conducting the research further. The anonymity and confidentiality have been
managed while taking research further. While carrying forward research privacy of individual
and respondent is being managed (Lourie and Rata, 2017). The respondent who had been
involved in research are informed to them as for what consent this research had been conducted
and where will be the collected information being used further.
P4 Application of analytical too taken into consideration for analyzing finding and data of
research-
For conducting this research the research can use various methods for primary & secondary
research. It is helpful for them in effectively conducting the research.
In Primary Research Questionnaire has been collected for further proceeding this
research. It is very helpful for having a view of individual what they feel about the consent.
Questionnaire state the fact what is being optimized by several numbers of individual. The
research have been carried forward on the basis of 30 respondents.
In Secondary Research Books and Journals have been taken into consideration for
collecting the data and facts of research(Basias and Pollalis, 2018). The already prepared data
and information published in books are further utilized which are useful in the effective research.
This takes less time and reviewed by someone else.
P5 Interpreting research outcome in appropriate manner-

P6 Reflection on the effectiveness of the Research Method
In this report I have undertaken research in Hilton Hotel related to Talent Management
which aims at hiring, retaining and developing most efficient employees available in job market.
For the purpose of Research the method which have been used is Primary Research Method
10
Document Page
which includes research from questionnaire (Taherdoost, 2016). The objective of research are
like identification of relationship in talent management and operational efficiency in case of
Hilton Hotel. For this it was most important and valuable to undertake the research by using
primary method. The reason is that through this real views of people at Hilton Hotel can be
identified.
This research helped me to understand that it is very different to just reflect on the performance
of people in the organisation and analysing research for the same. Outcome of research can give
proper basis for decisions which are quantitative rather than qualitative and have rational data for
supporting decisions of the organisation related to talent management. The reflection on
performance considers process of research and gives basis for selection of research and related
decisions. On the other hand evaluation of research project and what arguments were made in
research and evidence and their credibility.
There are various merits of primary research method which is why I selected this method for my
research. Some merits are-
Primary research helps in addressing specific issue of the research. In this research in wanted to
identify the relationship in talent management and operational efficiency. In this I used
questionnaire as tool for the research and this enabled me to understand the relationship. After
research it was found that operational areas where people are more qualified and on areas where
talent management is more effective than others are performing better than others. These areas
are customer relationship and marketing areas whose performance is better than others.
Another merit of this research is that it allows to get proprietary information which means that
information involved in research have been availed from the same individual to whom the
information belongs (Taherdoost, 2017). This increase credibility of the information and
information also becomes more accurate.
Greater control over the Information is another merit of primary research. In this I was able to
control all the information and which is why I chose individual to whom I gave questionnaire
and collected information. In this I was able to exclude which are part of the research but whose
information is not as important as others and whose information is less important in context of
research. In this I excluded employees whose qualification is less and who are not permanent
employees of Hilton Hotel and are not included in talent management of the Hilton Hotel.

After completion of research I also identified that there are some limitations which I had idea
about but did not consider before research. These are
Time Consuming, this is one disadvantage of primary research and this I had idea about but only
after completing research I had realised this limitation of the primary research. I found that it is
time consuming and this required me to develop questionnaire and later speak with all the people
who are part of my research. Complicated and most time consuming part of research was
explaining every individual who was sample of my research that what it is and why they have
been chosen as a sample in my research.
One potential pitfall I experienced in this research is that information which have been given by
sample individual if is different from actual behaviour and real information it could have affected
and reduced the quality of complete research.
P7 Consider alternative research methodologies
Primary research methods was used for this research and in this method included was
Questionnaire. There are various benefits of this method but there are other methods which can
be used for this research are-
Survey- This is an effective method which can be used for research in this data is collected from
large size of people who are related with research and data is collected through telephone and
interviews (Speklé and Widener, 2018). This is effective technique but does not seem suitable for
the purpose of this research. This because in this research sample populations requires a certain
level of educations and intelligence another is that research is limited to Hilton Hotel and its
talent management practices. This method of research has a benefit that it gets information from
only those people who are willing to participate and this saves the quality of information.
Researcher needs to be very focused while designing questions for the survey otherwise quality
of the survey can be reduces or all the efforts of survey can become meaningless.
Interview- This methodology includes that individuals are interviewed to collect the information
required for the purpose of research. This could have been very effective in this case. But in this
researcher have to take time from the people who are being interviewed and people may not
agree for that. Another drawback is that when personally interviewed people may not open up to
12
Document Page
share information (Kenno, McCracken and Salterio, 2017). In case researcher interview expert
of the subject and field in this case the quality of the information can be of very high quality. But
the benefits which includes that researcher can collect more qualitative data as personal
interview allows for question answer and in this all the doubts can be cleared by individual
which improves quality of the research.
Observation- This involves that people who are sample population for research are observed by
the researcher. This allows researcher to analyse and evaluate various actions taken by the
population and in this case employees and their performance are observed by researcher and on
the basis of their understanding they draw the result of the research and their finding and
conclusion. This is effective as people are observed without their knowledge and in such
situation they will not hide anything. Using this method can have a drawback as well. In this if
understanding of researcher is not well for the sample's behaviour and performance than the
result of research will be in accurate. Assumptions of the researcher can be a drawback for the
effectiveness of the research.
These were Primary research methodologies but there are methodologies which are part of
secondary research which are-
Case Studies- Case Studies provide realistic and assumed information over a topic and provides
a background for the information and later people are required to analyse the case study and
draw conclusion on the basis of individual expertise and experience. This is an effective
methodology for secondary research. There are various benefits of using this method for research
like it is cost and time saving (Van Willigen, 2019). This allows researcher to draw conclusion
on the basis of their expertise. But there are some disadvantages are there which are that it does
not provide any specific focus and the area of consideration are wide and in such case
assumptions of researcher can affect the quality of research.
