TASK 1
1.1 Formulation of project's outline specifications
Background of the research -
Motivation can be considered as a very effective tool in providing a sort of
encouragement to the employees so that they can also consider the fact that they are an important
part of the company (Lunenburg, 2011). By this way, the employees at Morrison's can focus
much better on the work, thus help the company in achieving all the targets and goals at a much
faster rate. So, Morrison's can involve various ways by which they can provide a better level of
motivation to the employees. Employees are the most important part of any organisation because
behind that level of satisfaction among customers, it is the hard work and efficiency of the
employees only. So, it is very important for Morrison's to take proper care of the employees and
by various means, tend to make the environment of the company happier and healthier.
Aim
To assess the impact of motivation on employee's performance in Morrison's
Objectives
ï‚· To analyse the concept of employee motivation
ï‚· To analyse the use of various motivational theories in Morrison's for motivating
employees.
ï‚· To understand the relationship between employee motivation and increasing productivity
of employees in Morrison's
ï‚· To recommend ways of motivating employees by different means in Morrison's.
1.2. Factors responsible for selecting the project
From a few times, it has been observed that some issues with the employees such as
employee turnover etc. has been increasing in Morrison's and it might be the possibility that it
may be because of the less motivational levels that are being provided in the Morrison's from the
authorities to the employees. It is because employees are leaving the organisation and because of
which the company has to face a loss in the market place as well. So, the topic has been chosen
so that by including various means, the problem can be resolved and it might help Morrison's in
gaining again a huge number of customers along with a higher rate of productivity as well.

1.3 Review about employee satisfaction in Morrison's
Concept of employee motivation
Employee motivation is considered as a technique or strategy that Morrison's can
involve in order to provide the employees a sort of satisfaction and encouragement with their
present role. Although every organisation has their own ways to motivate employees but some
well known and basic ways includes providing incentives, increments etc. So, the Morrison's can
involve such ways as they can provide some incentives and increments to their employees and it
can actually act as a very efficient way of motivating the employees (Kehoe and Wright, 2013).
By this way, the employees will also stay happy and focused towards the work and along with it,
it will encourage them to stay in the company, thus Morrison's does not have to face the issue of
employee turnover as well. When the company will be having efficient number of employees
working for achieving the targets and goals of the company, there is an increased chance of
increasing productivity of the company and popularity as well. Also, after achieving some
specific goals, Morrison's can also provide some extra week off to the employees, like an extra
unexpected holiday. This can also make the employees much happy. So, Morrison's can involve
these ways in order to provide a level of motivation to the employees because it will also help in
maintaining the environment of the company happier and healthier.
Use of motivational theories for motivating employees in Morrison's
Morrison's can also make use of various motivational theories so that they can be able to
provide an efficient amount of motivation to the employees such as Maslow hierarchy of needs,
Hawthorne effect etc. As per the theory of Maslow, it believes in satisfying the basic needs of the
individual such as physiological, love, esteem, safety etc. So, Morrison's can help in providing
the employees a level of safety that they can feel secure in the work place and its atmosphere.
Also, when considered the love and esteem, the company can provide them that esteem and that
interactive environment in which they can be able to have a well interaction with each other and
can stay happy (Manzoor, 2012). So, by such means of involving various motivational theories,
Morrison's can ensure the fact of providing efficient amount of motivation and encouragement to
the employees so that they can stay focused towards the work and help the company in gaining a
higher productivity rate.

Relationship between employee motivation and increased productivity
There is a very strong relationship between the motivation of employees and increasing
the productivity of Morrison's. It is because when the company will provide various different
means of motivation such as increments, incentives, some extra and unexpected leaves etc., it
will help in encouraging them, thus they can work with more focus which will further help the
company in achieving all its goals (Peterson and Zhang, 2011). Also, it will make the
environment of the workplace happier and healthier, thus everyone can stay relaxed and have
their focus on work. When everyone's focus will be on work, it will automatically help them all
achieving their targets, thus maximizing the overall productivity rate of Morrison's.

2.2 Undertaking the investigation
Research is considered as a methodical way of performing the study and investigation
about the facts and various ways that can help in analysing and performing the research better
and also it helps the researcher in reaching till various new conclusions and methods. Research
methodology is also considered as a systematic way of following a plan that can help in
conducting the whole research much better and appropriate. There are various components of the
research methodology and these are discussed as under :
Research approach
Research approach is classified as the approach that is being adopted by the researcher to
make the whole process more effective. It can be considered either as deductive or as inductive.
The inductive approach is associated with the new theories and its consequences whereas the
deductive one is associated with the testing theories (Gardner, Wright and Moynihan, 2011). So,
in this research, the researcher will make use of the inductive approach because it can help the
researcher in better analysing about the motivation and its influence on the productivity of
employees as well as of Morrison's.
Research strategy
Research strategy is considered as a step wise procedure or plan that helps in providing a
specific path which can help in conducting the whole research more systematically. It can be
classified as either the qualitative strategy or the quantitative one. In this research, the researcher
will make use of the qualitative strategy because it will help in analysing the influence of
motivation on employees in Morrison's.
Data Collection
The collection of all the data and information can be achieved by either the primary
method or by the secondary one. Primary data is classified as the data that is being gathered at
the first time and this information or data can be taken by means such as focused groups,
surveys, interviews etc. Secondary data is classified as the data that has already been gathered by
some other body (Grant, 2012). This can be gathered by sources like books, online, journals etc.
In this research, the researcher will make use of the primary data because the data from
interviews and surveys can remain much helpful to understand the role of motivation on the
6

employees and also in the data, there might be the possibility that the data from books and online
might be old that can seem non relevant for the research. So, the researcher will make use of the
primary data in this research.
Sampling
Sampling is considered as the process in which random samples are been taken in order
to get the data and information for making the research more effective and appropriate. It can be
further classified in various types such as simple random sampling (SRS), clustered sampling,
stratified sampling, systematic etc. Out of all these, the researcher will make use of the simple
random sampling because it will help in analysing the importance and influence of motivation on
employees in Morrison's.
Research limitations
Research limitations can be considered as the factors that may act as some challenge or
barrier in the research. A very common example of this can be defined as the fact that if the
researcher think that by putting some more time in the research can make it more effective but it
is very important to ensure the fact that when more time will be given to the research, it will be
requiring more cost and time as well. So, if at that time, there is less or no availability of these
resources, it may act as barriers or challenges and it can also interrupt the research. So, it is better
if the researcher completes the following project in the given deadline.

Task 3
3.1 Appropriate research evaluation methods
There are two methods on the basis of which the whole evaluation of the research can
take place and these are discussed as under :
Qualitative method
Qualitative method is categorised as an efficient method that can be used by the
researcher in order to make the research more effective and appropriate (Cerasoli, Nicklin and
Ford, 2014). In this the researcher can take all the data and information from sources like focused
groups, surveys, interviews etc. It is because it can provide an efficient range of information
from the samples or interviews taken.
Quantitative method
9
Document Page
Quantitative method is categorised as the method in which the researcher can make use of
the data and information from analysing the statistics, graphs of some situation because it can
help in evaluating better about the situation. Also, sources includes the data from books, journals,
online etc. Quantitative method will not be used in this research because the qualitative one
because the data from primary sources can help the researcher in analysing better about the
influence of motivation on employees in Morrison's.
3.2 Interpreting and analysing the outcomes
Theme 1 : Employee motivation is important in Morrison's
Interpretation : As per the analysis made, it has been evaluated that 13 employees strongly
agree to the fact that employee motivation can actually play a very important part in Morrison's
because some sort of employment helps in increasing and maintaining the focus of employees on
work and that is an efficient feature for the company to achieve all the goals. 2 other employees
also think the same. One employee is neutral of the fact that they think it might or might not be
affective. Two employees are not agreed of this fact and think that employee motivation cannot
help the company. Two other employees also think the same that it cannot bring any change in
the Morrison's.
