EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
In the present research, investigator sheds light on the need for change and way to manage
the change within the healthcare organisation effectively. There are different reasons due to
which it is become important for management to implement the changes in the organisation. Due
to old methods of working it becomes difficult to deliver quality services then firm need to
implement new methods and technology with the help of which it becomes easy to satisfy
patients and gain competitive advantage. Further with the use of change management model, it
becomes easy for the management to implement and manage the changes effectively within the
organizations. While implementation it is important to be transparent and communicate
effectively with service provider regarding the changes. There are some barriers which company
face while managing the changes. Hence leader in this regard needs to use its effective skills and
help firm in managing the changes. The present result is based on developing the understanding
related to the changes and the way to manage it so that service user can receive quality services.
It is important to provide training and development facilities to employees so that they can easily
adopt the changes. Along with this sharing value and leading all effectively help employees to
motivate for adopting changes instead of resist..

Overview of the topic
In the modern era, healthcare organisation faced extremely challenging position in order
to survive in the competitive market. There are rapid changes occur in the healthcare
organisation as strive to adopt new technology that is electronic healthcare record or
implementing quality improvement initiatives (Cummings and Worley, 2014). In respect to deal
with these changes, it is important to encourage and support employees so that they can adopt the
changes without any problem. National health organisation (NHS) is facing some issues due to
the existing method of working. As there was lack of advanced technology due to which it
becomes difficult for them in delivering the quality services to patients. Along with this, the
change can be managed in the context of the new policy which can be a critical issue for the
healthcare professional (Burke, 2017). Further, it is not easy for the organization to manage the
change as because employees resist the changes. Not only manager but also professional required

to develop and implement the new services which are designed to bring the patients in the centre
for healthcare delivery. The present research is based on exploring the significance of managing
changes in healthcare organisation in order to deliver quality services (Grol, Wensing, and Davis,
2013). It is essential for NHS to manage the changes within the organisation for this purpose it
needs to be transparent, frequent with communication and time so that changes can be
implemented successfully. It is noticed that communication is the foundation of a successful
change management strategy and it is essential to communicate the right content at the right
time. Along with this while implementing new technology it is important to provide training
facility so that they can easily get adjust to it instead of resist (Yoder-Wise, 2014).
Significance of the research
The present report is based on exploring the significance of managing changes in healthcare
organisation in order to deliver quality services. Therefore, present research will help in
developing the understanding related to the change management and its effectiveness. Further
different issues which organisation faced while managing the changes are also discussed. Hence
this report will help in developing an understanding of different firms in related to the way of
managing changes effectively and systematically. If the quality of services get hamper then it is
important for the healthcare organisation to implement the changes, so that improvement can be
done on the same area. (Zwar,, Harris and Hasan, 2017).

LITERATURE REVIEW
According to the view of Carayon, Wetterneck and Gurses, (2014), it is important to
manage change within the healthcare organisation. It is one of the key concern for the
management to manage the changes so that services can be improved and satisfaction level of
patients can be enhanced. Through implement change, it becomes easy for the services provider
to deliver quality services to the patient. To implement the changes is one of the important
factors as it helps the company in making improvement its services and way of working.
Managing changes within the healthcare organisation are one of the complex processes. It is
because in this manager need to evaluate, plan and implement the operations, strategies and to
ensure that changes are worthwhile. Hence it is one of the challenging processes and not the
choice between technological, or people oriented solution but a combination of all. Kash,
Spaulding and Gamm, (2014) state that effective change can be characterized as an unfreezing
old behavior, presenting new ones and refreezing them. There is some time required for
predictable changes while for unpredictable changes is difficult to respond by employees in an

effective manner. One of the sustainability competitive advantage in present time is the ability to
change, adapt and evolve and to do which is better than the competition. Wager, Lee and Glaser,
(2017) argued that if healthcare organisation wants to experience a greater level of success in
their development efforts then management required to have a better framework to think about
the changes and understand the key issues which required change management. At the time when
changes are endorsed, employees need to understand the reason for changes and the way they
will affect. Hayes, (2014) state that changes is important but it leads to bringing confusion,
insecurities, anger, and stress in employees under the auspices of changes. To promote changes
within the firm is both demanding and fatiguing. To bring changes for management is one of the
challenges. Employees within the organisation work in a comforting environment as they
become the addict of that, However changes take place it breaks their comfort zone due to which
they resist adopting the changes.
As per the view of Cummings and Worley, (2014), with the use of change management
model, it is easy for the management to implement the changes within the healthcare
organisation successfully. Through implementing change, it becomes easy for the firm to deal
with day to day challenges and make improvement in its quality services. It helps in gaining
competitive position in the competitive market (Burke, 2017). Through implementing changes, it
becomes easy for the firm to understand the needs and wants of services users easily, along with
this company can easily respond to the patient quickly and deliver them quality services. In the
healthcare, organisation leader plays the significant role in manging changes, as there are many
models which can be adopted by the leader such as Kotler’s change management model which
help in managing the changes within the organization successfully. According to the Kotter’s
change management model, it believes that organisation change can be easily managed with the
use of dynamic, non-linear 8 step approaches. Here Kotter organise each of its eight components
in 3 different phases as, its first phase is known as “creating a climate for change”, which
includes increase urgency, get the vision right, and building guiding teams. Further in the second
phase that is engaging and enabling the entire organisation which includes, communicate for
buy-in, enable action to create a short vision. The final step is 7 implementing and sustaining the
change which encompasses, and don’t let up and sustain the changes. Author state that it is
important to create a sense of urgency within the healthcare organisation buys the manager. For
instance, to develop the sense of urgency it is important to prepare the way to implement an EHR

as because healthcare manager has several options (Grol, Wensing, and Davis, 2013). One of the
effective options is to show the video of an angry patient whose son is died in the hospital due to
medical error. Hence it patient information is prevented electronically instead of paper. If
employees understand the reason for the implementation of changes then it becomes easy for
them to accept the changes. While there are some roles and responsibilities of management such
as they should communicate regarding the changes with employees and be transparent with
them. Hence, with the use of change management model, it becomes easy for the healthcare
organization to manage the changes successfully.

study and the way it can be completed successfully. There are two kinds of research approach
that is the inductive and deductive approach (WinitWatjana, 2016). In the present research, the
investigator will use inductive approach as it helps in first collecting the specific information and
then generalisation of the same will be done. The reason behind using this technique is that it
help in accomplishing the study in a systematics manners

The research design is defined as a systematic method and scientific procedure which
assist in carrying out the different activities. There is three main type of research design that is
explanatory, exploratory and descriptive (Mebius, Kennedy and Howick, 2016). In exploratory
research design, it leads to focus on uncovering the issues while in explanatory it includes
different models and theories. On the other side in descriptive research design, it covers the
description of the study and analysis of the selected topic that is to explore the significance of
managing changes in healthcare organization in order to deliver quality services. In the present
research, descriptive research design will be used in which investigator will study the topic in
depth and linked it with the various theories and factors.

Population definition
The population is known as the total number of people which are available in the research
process and are invited to take join in the investigation procedures (Bailly and Comino, 2017).
Hence, in this section, a exact area has been focused in respect to collect the data related to the
research. For the present research categories, the sample will be health care professionals who
work in NHS and provide services to patients.
Sampling method:
Sampling is known as the specific principle which is used for selecting the population for
the present study. Further, there are two important methods for sampling that is probabilistic and
non- probabilistic. The present research is based on the to explore the significance of managing
changes in healthcare organisation in order to deliver quality services, therefore non-probability
method will be used under which random sampling method will be used. Here 12 health care
professionals will be selected for collecting the information with the use of purposive sampling
method (Wright, Wahoush and Jack, 2016). Reason behind selecting them is that they can
provide depth and specific information related to the changes and the way they manage them
within the NHS.
Data collection method
Collection of the information is one of the important methods in the entire research and in
research methodology. In this researcher will emphasis on various sources with respect to
gathering the information related to the subject matters. While all the collecting information will
be used in the present research in respect to increasing the validity and reliability of the selected
topic that is to explore the significance of managing changes in healthcare organization in order
to deliver quality services (Kerr, Eckert and Wandwabwa,2016). For collecting the secondary
that there has accessed journals, different books, and articles. It is effective in term of collecting
the specific information related to the subject matter. Hence it can be stated that past studies are
also used so that their view and opinion can be gathered in the present research. In the present
research, both primary and secondary method will be used for collecting the data. In the primary
research, the survey will be conducted in which questions will be asked from the healthcare
professionals. On the other side in secondary books, journals and CERNER will be focused.

be converted into a meaningful information. There are two important techniques for analysing
the collected data that is qualitative and quantitative. In the quantitate different statistical tools
are used such as SPSS, chi-square test etc for analysing the gathered information. In the other
side in qualitative themes and charts are prepared on the basis of results (Creswell and Poth,
2017). The present research is based on to explore the significance of managing changes in
healthcare organization in order to deliver quality services, therefore, qualitative techniques will
be used for analysing the collected data. In this different themes and charts will be prepared on
the basis which interpretation will be done.
Research ethics: At the time of carrying out the research it is important to undertake ethical
consideration so that entire investigation can e carried out in effective manner. Further it is
important to keep all the personal information of respondent securely so that no one can misused
it. Aims of the survey should be made clear in the front of respondent and they should not be
forced to take participant. On the other side all the information which is collected from the
secondary sources is cited properly and collected from authentic sources.
Expected outcome
From the above research it is concluded that in the NHS it is important to manage quality
services as it play significant roles. After implementing changes, it becomes easy for the firm to
understand the needs and wants of services users easily, along with this NHS can easily respond
to the patient problem quickly and deliver them quality services on time.
