Research Methods and Processes
Reflective report is referred as a piece of writing which summarizes critical reflection of a
student on a particular subject. It is an analytical practice where and individual describes
imaginary or real scene, passing thought, event, memory or interaction and adds a reflection on
its meaning. It helps in identifying tacit knowledge and gaps in knowledge of an individual and
encourages growth as working professional (Allan and Driscoll, 2014). This is a reflective report
which is based on my own experience that l gets by performing this research. This reflective
report includes reflection on research processes, methodologies, discussion of key learning
points, literature and sources and findings and outcomes of research. It also reflects on skills and
contributions which I can make to company as an outcome of developing the skills.
At the time of performing the study, I used a systematic process that involves ascertaining,
locating, analysing and assessing the information that supports the questions of research and
helps in fulfilling its objectives. The very first step of performing this investigation is to select
the research area, topic or issue. The investigation that I performed was based on qualitative
research method. This method was used in order to get detailed information on the topic and is
emphasize on gathering data through conversational and open ended communication. Apart from
this, I made use of interpretivism philosophy in this investigation as this method of research
includes interpretation of elements of investigation and it also integrates human interest into the
research. The research approach that are utilised in performing the investigation was inductive
approach. The main reason behind selection of this approach for performing the investigation
was that it initiates with observations as well as the theories are proposed towards completion of
process of research as an outcome of observations. By the use of this approach, I was able to
synthesise the experience, observations and learning in order to come up with genuine truth.
Moreover, the research strategy that was utilised to collect information on the topic was
interview (Chang, and et. al., 2016). There are various another strategies including survey, case
study research, systematic literature review, experimental research etc.
Literature and Sources
In this step, I find out the issue or topic of my interest on which the overall dissertation was
conducted. After that, I formulated aim and objectives of research along with the research
questions which helped in providing direction to overall research. Then the another step is to
conduct literature review. At the time of conducting literature review, I researched so many

articles and journals on internet related to the topic area and compare viewpoints of different
authors on different themes associated with the topic. After this step, different research methods
are analysed and selected on the basis of nature of research that and the topic that is being
investigated (Cannady and Gallo, 2016). The methods of data collection were selected by me on
the basis of analysis of their advantages and disadvantages. Then, the collected data was
analysed and interpreted properly. This step of research process plays significant role in
accomplishment of research aim and objectives. Based on the proper analysis and interpretation
of data, I draw conclusion of the research. By followed the similar process, I was able to
successfully completed the research and accomplish its aim and objectives.
Knowledge
By conducted the investigation, I was able to gain knowledge about several digital mediums
that a business can use and that are getting popular in the market these days among businesses.
This research significantly helped me in analysing the impact that digital access brings on
management of a fashion retailer like Hennes & Mauritz. Working on this subject area helped me
in determining several mediums of digital access that are used in retail industry along with the
influence of digital platform on business of fashion retailers. This investigation also helped me in
determining the relationship between maximising access to digital platform and enhancing
management of company.
Learning
Reflective writing provides an opportunity to the individuals to think deeply about what they
are doing and to learn from their experience. Reflection converts an experience into genuine
learning regarding individual goals and values and challenges an individual to connect the
activities of service to course objectives as well as develop high level of problem solving and
thinking. By performing this investigation, I learn so many things. This research helped me in
improving my skills and knowledge regarding the topic and its related areas. This research
assisted in improving my research skills as while performing this investigation, I needed to
search so many things on the topic that enabled me to enhance my research skills. Performing
this investigation helped me in learning so many things and also improved my knowledge base
and competencies that further supports me in my career development and growth. By performing
this investigation, I found that, there is a direct relationship between the research and business
development proposal to professional development opportunities as well as career development

intentions. As by the help of this investigation, I was able to get knowledge about the real estate
market of London where firm wants to execute the idea of online apartment booking services.
Critical Thinking and ideas
By performing the overall research, I found that, the idea of providing the online services of
booking apartments is feasible for the company as it will help the organisation in attracting more
number of customers who come London to visit the city and want to stay luxury apartment that
provide them with all the facilities. In current scenario, people are very busy in their own work
so they don't have time to move here and there in the searching of apartment of their choice. The
online apartment booking services of company provide customers with the benefit to book their
apartment according to their choice at an affordable cost. Along with this, they are not requiring
to move here and there for the searching of apartment. This saves money as well as time of the
customers which is the great advantage for them. So, providing with such kind of services will
help the organisation in generating high profits and revenues in the market of London (Naber and
Wyatt, 2014).
Barriers met
By undertaking the MBA program, I am provided with the opportunity to perform research
over a particular topic which helped me in my personal and professional development.
Undertaking this project helped in improving my communication skills along with the team
working abilities. As the research project needed to perform in the group, I was also able to
improve my team working skills. Initially my team working skill was not good and I faced
difficulties in performing the research in group. But by the collective efforts of team members
and their helpful nature, I was able to perform the research successfully accomplish please set
aim and objectives of research. My communication skill was also average initially because of
which I faced a lot of difficulties in interacting with my team members and make them
understand what I want to say. But, after the time passes, my communication skill improve
slowly and steadily and now my communication skills are good and I am able to interact with
others in an effective way (Pasternak, and Rigoni, 2015).
Performing this project assisted in improving my team working skills enable me to work
with others in an effective manner. However, for performing this research project, I have a
specific time within which I needed to complete the investigation. Due to less time, I faced some
difficulties in completing the activities on time. Lack of time act as a barrier in performing the

activities of research appropriately. Among all the activities of research, much of the time was
consumed in collecting primary and secondary data and its analysis. While collecting primary
data, I faced difficulties in convincing the participants to take participation in research. As I used
questionnaire as a tool to gather data in relation to this project, I faced difficulties in getting
responses from the respondents. Due to COVID – 19 pandemic, I was not able to go outside and
interact with the respondents personally. This was the major barrier that I faced while performing
the research. I got delayed in gathering the responses from respondents. However, I made use of
e-mail for sending questionnaire to the respondents due to which I was able to gather the
responses appropriately (Petko, Egger, and Graber, 2014).
Professional Development
This investigation is significant in improving my knowledge and understanding about topic.
Apart from this, it also supports in improving my skills and competencies which is beneficial for
my academic as well as professional career. This research is also significant for future employers
as through this research, the employers will be able to get information regarding several
mediums of digital access that they can use in the organisation. In addition to this, this research
also helps them in analysing the influence of digital platform on business (Becker and Renger,
2017). They are able to get knowledge about how increasing access to digital platform helps in
improving management of the company. It helps researcher in taking appropriate decisions
regarding the use of digital technology and improving access to digital technology in the
organisation.
Objectives
The research report is based on the topic "the influence that increasing digital access bring
over management of fashion retailer". The main reason behind conducting research on this topic
is to gain understanding about the changes that are bring by digital platforms in the business
environment and the way in which they impact the operations of in digital world (Bassot, 2016).
But, in this investigation I selected interview method so that adequate amount of data can be
collected by performing face to face or telephonic interview. In this process, I asked some
questions related to the study area to the respondents and gained their responses on the same.
Then comes data collection method, where I used both the methods to collect data including
primary and secondary data collection method. For collecting primary data, i made use of
interview method and secondary data was gathered through using books, articles, journals and

previously published records. The sampling method which I choose to gather information on the
study area was convenience sampling, where I selected the respondents as per my convenience
and asked them to respond on the research questions. All these methods were utilised by me in
order to ensure that the investigation was performed systematically and valid outcomes of
research can be drawn (Lakshmi, 2014).
Findings and Outcomes
As per the above mentioned report, it has been concluded that this reflective report helps in
summarizing the overall experience that researcher get by performing the investigation.
Reflection helps in determining the strengths and weaknesses which further assistance improving
the weak areas by taking appropriate actions. It assists in determining gaps in knowledge and
helps in personal and professional growth of an individual. The overall learning that an
individual gets from performing the particular is summarized in it. The overall experience that I
get by conducting this investigation was excellent. I have learnt so many things which helped in
my personal and professional development. I was able to meet all the objectives of research
appropriately and completing it on time. By performing overall study, I found that the idea of
providing online apartment booking services to customers prove to be valuable for the company
as it provides it with the opportunity to gain competitive advantage in market and also leads it
towards high profitability and success (Ross, 2014).
