Assessment 2: Reflective Account
Introduction
Reflective account is referred as the brief written description of actions and experience that
an individual gets in a particular situation, event or circumstances. It involves information about
what went well, not well, an individual learns from the overall experience etc. This is a reflective
report which I developed on my own experience and the learning which I get by performing the
research (Gibson, and et. al., 2017). This reflective report provides me with an opportunity to
evaluate my actions throughout the process of research and reflecting on my skills, behaviour
and knowledge. It helps me in determine the effectiveness of my own engagement with others
and assist me in identifying my own skills and development areas.
Main Body
Own reflection on performing research
I am a student learning in the module and presenting the reflection on the experience gained
by me while performing poster presentation. While undertaking the module, I was assigned with
a task by my tutor in which I need to developed a poster presentation on the research process in
group. At that time, I had no experience about how to prepare a poster and I felt very nervous.
My confidence level was also low at that time one thing constantly roaming in my mind that how
will I prepare that presentation as I had no knowledge about it. But, my tutor and group members
motivate me and insist me to do that which improves my confidence level and I go ahead with it.
The topic on which I need to develop poster presentation was "importance of relationship
marketing to attract new customers using social media" and I need to perform the study on
BMW. The main objectives of this investigation was to understand the concept of relationship
marketing, its benefit for business and its importance in attracting new customers by using social
media (Johns, 2017).
For performing this investigation in an appropriate way, I needed to search on different
sources in order to collect information on the topic. My research skills were not good due to
which I faced many problems in collecting the data on the topic. I have no knowledge about the
authenticated and unauthenticated sources along with which source I need to consider and which
is not. But, in collecting the information, my group members helped me a lot. They told me that
the source which is older than 10 years is not appropriate to include in the study. By the help of

them, I was able to gathered information regarding the topic. Apart from this, my communication
skills were also not good at that time and I faced many difficulties in communicating with others
and make them understand what I meant to say. I was not able to present and express my views
clearly in front of others because of my weak communication skills. Initially, I faced a lot of
difficulties due to that but after sometime my communication skills gradually improved and I
was able to interact in an appropriate way with others (Moussa-Inaty, 2015).
However, my team working skills are good which helped me a lot in working with others in
an effective way and I was able to work collectively and in coordination with each other.
Because of good team working skills, I was able to perform all the activities on time and develop
the poster presentation within the specified time period. By performing the study, I learnt about
the significance of relationship marketing for business and how it helps in attracting new
customers by using social media. I learnt that relationship marketing is very effective in
developing relationship with customers in an appropriate way and make them loyal towards the
organisation. This will help in developing long lasting relationship with customers and ultimately
improve the productivity of company. There are many things which went well during performing
the investigation. My good team working skills will help me in performing all the assigned tasks
and responsibilities in an appropriate way despite of my ineffective communication skills
(Pasternak and Rigoni, 2015).
Performing activity in the group helped me a lot in learning many new things. The overall
experience of performing this investigation was very good for me and I learnt a lot from this
module. This module also helped me knowing my strength and weaknesses which further help
me in identifying the development areas on which I need to work to improve them so that I will
be able to performing the similar task in more appropriate way in future along with another tasks
also. However, during over a module I felt that I need to work upon my communication as well
as the research skills and take appropriate actions to improve those skills. So, for improving my
research skills, I will plan the research carefully and ensure that the plagiarism will be avoided. I
searched many articles and journals and take advantage of new technologies. I will also set an
appropriate schedule in order to mitigate the deadlines as well as write good articles of research.
All these actions will help in improving my research skills and make me able to perform research
in an appropriate way in future (Shum, and et. al., 2016).

On the other hand, for improving my communication skills, I will take help of online
resources, read and write sentences, attend classes on communication and take help of
professionals so that I will be able to interact effectively with others and my communication
skills will be improved. With the help of good communication skills, I will be able to grow
professionally and help me in getting good employment in future. Good communication will help
me in ensuring my academic career, personal life as well as professional life (Shum, and et. al.,
2016).
Conclusion
As per the above provided reflection, it can be concluded that reflecting on experience
provided me with an opportunity to grow and develop. It helps in determining my weak and
strong areas and make me able to learnt a lot. The learning from this module also helped in my
personal and professional development. By the help of this experience and learning which I get
from the module, I will be able to get good employment in future.
