Tourism relates to those activities of people in which they stay at different places outside
their own common environment and places where they live (Cocola-Gant, 2018). The following
research proposal is based on the topic of Tourism in Berlin, Germany. Berlin is counted under
top tourist places in the world which is the main attraction point for tourists, as there are not only
a single point of attraction but every place have its own history. So the focus of this research
proposal is made on the discussion of tourism in Berlin with the help of Literature Review
covering challenges, ways to increase Tourist Traffic, positive and negative impact of Tourism
and many more. The discussion about methods of investigation/enquiry, ethical will be presented
along with the Gantt Chart. Lastly, the discussion of professional and career development skills
will also be done.
Background of the Project
The following proposal is focused on Berlin which is the capital city of Germany. It is
also the country's largest city with a number of tourist places, the main point of attraction. Some
examples of these attraction points are cultural fair, world famous Berlin Opera, Berlin
Philharmonic Orchestra (Schmiz, 2017). Along with this, it has hundreds of art galleries, events,
museums, UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Berlin Wall is also good visiting point for
tourists, despite of fact of devastation caused during World War II but the destruction caused was
rebuilt and covered and is celebrating its success acknowledging the dark past of the country.

Tourism is the concept which is related to roaming to different places and for various
purposes such as entertainment, recreational purposes, research and many more. Berlin is a
tourist place and have many popular tourist places which makes the people attracted towards this
place (Dredge and et. al., 2016). There are many positive and negative impacts of these Tourism
on the country such as in the positive impacts it is included about the increase in revenues,
increase in GDP of the country, cultural diversity and many more (Novy, 2017). Along with
positive, there are also some negative impacts as well such as over exploitation of natural
resources, more wastage, and many other related problems could arise that will impact
negatively on the nature and environment of the country (Schäfer and Hirsch, 2017). In this way,
there will be positive as well as negative impact created on the country. There will also be some
challenges related to Tourism which Berlin will faced such as management of natural resources
which has been caused due to increased number of tourists and this has increased the use of
natural resources impacting negatively on the environment and created challenge to deal for
Berlin (Wang and et. al., 2016). So it is essential for the country to adopt suitable strategies that
could help in the growth and development of the country in way which not only prevents it from
being over exploited but also helps in increasing the number of tourists in country. It will also be
suitable for Germany to adopt some measures with the help of which negative issues confronted
could be resolved and also the negative impacts caused due to increase in tourism could also be
eradicated. This will help Berlin in having sustainable growth in respect of Tourism along with
maintaining proper natural resources without any exploitation and other related issues (Postma
and Schmuecker, 2017).

5. METHOD OF INQUIRY
Data collection is a term which relates to analysing and evaluating data collected in order
to conduct the research so that it could be completed in an effective and efficient way. So there
are mainly two types of data collection methods which are Primary and Secondary Sources.
Primary Sources are those sources of data collection in which the data has been collected from
the first hand and having no existence at all before the collection such as the preparation of
questionnaires, surveys, observations (Senyo, Addae and Boateng, 2018). On the other hand,
secondary sources of data relates to data which has been collected from some already published
sources such as books, journals, articles ,etc. In this proposal, use of questionnaire will be done
as primary source and the use of books and journals will be done in secondary sources. With the
help these data, it will be possible to real opinion of respondents in primary sources and in
secondary, it will be possible to get relevant, accurate data from authentic sources in order to
increase reliability and accuracy of the research.
6. ETHICAL ISSUES
Ethical Issues in conducting this research proposal are related to inform consent which
has become an ethical issue because in case respondents are told about the purpose of research
than there are chances of influencing their decisions and may lose their interest (Battiste, 2016).
Another ethical issue is related to confidentiality which the respondents could also reveal and it
will could not become possible to conduct research in an ethical way .

order to make simpler and easier to perform the different tasks of the research proposal.
