This study is carried out because it helps in bridging the gaps on the current knowledge of
the subject matter which mainly helps in determining factors which could lead to stress among
residential staff. The researcher of the study has carried out the study because it is the current
issue and is very essential to manage stress while providing residential care. This is the current
issue because ineffective management of stress at workplace results in improper delivery of care
services to the individual. The researcher focuses on effectively analysing how residential staff
tends to manage stress at the workplace while providing residential care. The researcher of the
study will critically evaluate the particular subject matter through thematic analysis which in turn
helps in attaining all the aims and objectives of the research.
RESEARCH HYPOTHESIS
Stress at workplace is largely linked with the performance of the residential staff.
METHODOLOGY
Phenomenology: This is a type of qualitative research which in turn focuses on the study
of live experiences of the individual. This approach is useful in reaching description of the nature
for the particular phenomenon.
Epistemology: This is an effective approach which focuses on how the particular
knowledge on the subject matter is validated and produced. This is based on the theory of
knowledge which helps in understanding the origin, limit, and nature of the human knowledge.
RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
Research methodology is considered to be an effective strategy which is useful in
identifying, selecting, processing and analysing all the information of the research topic.
Research methods: This is an effective method as it helps in uncovering all the useful
information for the better understanding of the research topic. This is classified into qualitative
and quantitative research methods. Qualitative research methods helps in gathering data by
effectively analysing complex situations which in turn is useful in gaining knowledge through
social interactions (Research Methods, 2019). Quantitative method helps in effectively
evaluating the numbers and statistical and analytical data which in turn helps in attaining wider
perspective on the subject matter.
The researcher of the study will opt for Qualitative research methods where it helps in

Research approach: This is referred to as the systematic procedure which in turn helps in
gaining wider perspective on the subject matter by gaining broad assumptions. This is classified
into deductive and inductive approach (Kumar, 2019). Deductive approach is based on scientific
investigation which is based on existing theories and concepts by effectively testing it with
research hypothesis. Inductive approach is based on logical reasoning and in turn helps in
obtaining specific conclusion.
The researcher of the study will opt for inductive approach which helps in analysing
factors which could lead to stress among residential staff.
Research design: This is considered to be an effective strategy which h helps in
integrating various different components, variables and elements into the study. This is classified
into exploratory and descriptive research design (Mackey and Gass, 2015). Exploratory methods
helps in critically exploring the subject matter in order to attain desired results. Descriptive
research design helps in observing the behaviour and helps in resolving research problem.
The researcher of the study will opt for descriptive research design where it helps in
evaluating how residential staff manages stress at work.
Data collection: This is an effective process which helps in measuring and gathering
information on the particular set of variables. This is classified into primary and secondary
source of data collection. Primary data collection is the information which has been collected for
the first time through interviews, investigation, questionnaire, poll, etc. Secondary data collection
method is the information which has been collected earlier and can be used in the future for
further investigation.
The researcher of the study will opt for both primary and secondary source of data
collection which helps in analysing that stress can affect the residential staff physically and
mentally while providing residential care.
Sampling: This is an effective statistical analysis which is based on predetermined
observation taken from large population. This is classified into probabilistic and non-
probabilistic sampling method (Bresler and Stake, 2017). Random sampling is considered to be a
probabilistic sampling method where all the individuals from the population has equal probable
chance to be a part of sample size.
The researcher of the study will opt for random sampling method where 6 members of
residential staff will be selected in order to determine the challenges faced by the residential staff

to manage stress while providing residential care and also evaluate proper recommendation
strategies to manage stress level and perform effectively at the workplace.
Data analysis: This is considered to be an effective process which helps in evaluating
data which is used for uncovering useful information which aids in strategic decision making.
This is classified into thematic analysis and SPSS tool (Silverman, 2016). Thematic analysis is
useful in interpreting and pinpointing various patterns of the research to gain wider aspect of the
research.
The researcher of the study will opt for qualitative research where thematic analysis will
be used to analyse how residential staff tends to manage stress at the workplace while providing
residential care.
Ethical consideration and limitation: The researcher of the study has carried out
research in ethical and sustainable manner where the researcher has collected all the information
from valid sources and has also cited the information (Mackey and Gass, 2015). All the
information is protected by the data protection act which helps in keeping all the relevant
information confidential and free from anonymity. The researcher of the study faced major
limitation associated with time constraints and lack of financial and human resource. But the
researcher did not let this hamper the reliability of the study and has carried out the study within
stipulated time frame.
LITERATURE REVIEW
Factors which could lead to stress among residential staff.
McLean, (2015) sought to determine the fact that, Managing stress is considered the wide
spectrum of techniques which helps in controlling person's level of stress which in turn helps in
delivering high quality care to the individual which leads to higher sustainable growth and
efficiency. Ngocha-Chaderopa and Boon, (2016) sought to evaluate that, long working hours is
considered to be one of the major issue which in turn results in stress among the residential staff
while providing care services to the individual. Davison and et.al., (2017) said that, poor working
relationship with the nurses and doctors tend to result in major factor which in turn leads to stress
among residential staff. Change in the duty and tight deadlines is one of the major stress at work
among the residential staff. Hainstock, Cloutier and Penning, (2017) argued that, factors
associated with the stress directly affects the health of an individual and in turn results in lower
performance and productivity at work.
