Rationale
The rationale for this essay is to solve or provide the resources and module for parent
facing development issue in their 4 year old child regarding the mathematics concepts and
numbers. Mathematics concepts include basic counting like 10, 20... Shapes, odd and even
numbers, addition and subtraction etc. (KUMAŞ, 2020). To make parent facilitate at their
homes to teach the mathematical concepts to their 4 year old child resource is explained to them.
A resource is a platform or method which should attract and develop interest in child to learn the
mathematical concept with fun. Resources can be books, online videos, fun games, activities etc.
Description of resources
The three resources to aid the teaching of parent to their kid are: Kindergarten books and series: The first resource to make the kid learn and develop
mathematics concept is through the books and series that support the Victorian
curriculum. Parents can use the non visual and visual content of the books to teach the
kid with the mathematical concepts that is mentioned in their schools Victorian
curriculum (Paustenbaugh and Belliston, 2018). Visual animated content (Videos): The second resource is teaching through video that
are developed on the mathematical concept using the animated figures, characters, eye
catching colours to attract and develop the interest of the kids of the age 3-5. The parent
can use this resource with their kid as today's generation kid learn fast through videos
and are highly familiar with this technology and their applications.
 Fun and learning activities: The third resource is highly effective one and full fill the
purpose of rationale as parent is required to make the kid learn mathematical concepts at
home. A parent with this resource can conduct activities like pick and drop, recognize
the things in home as per mathematics concept, using match the terms activities etc.
Describing the concept/s
Victorian curriculum covers various mathematical concepts among which three
mathematical concepts are:

 Counting numbers 10, 20... : The basic concept of mathematics in kids start with
learning counting from 1 to 50. Numbers or counting are the base of the mathematics
and it is the most essential concept for the kids to learn to develop further concepts of
mathematics. Recognizing shapes: The mathematics concept of Geometry as per the Victorian
Curriculum include the shapes like triangle, square, circle etc. and recognizing those
shapes in daily life and to learn further details of these shapes is important learning for
the kids during kindergarten school. Shape recognition in geometry concept is essential
because it help kid to increase thinking ability.

 Even and Odd numbers: This is another important topic to cover in mathematical
concepts to easily to divide things equally and to teach kid about the equal sharing and
dividing. This concept also makes kid understand the concept of even and odd in daily
life (Henderson, 2019).

Justifying the resource & link to curriculum
The rationale is to teach the small kid the concept of mathematics which will cherish their
nurturing mind for future learning’s. The essay is conducted to assist the parent of 4 year old kid
in teaching them Mathematical concept of geometry at home (Lee and et. al., 2021). The
resource is fun and educational activity regarding mathematical concept of Geometry using items
at home justify the rationale as it solves the problem of going out to develop the skills of child
and also result in learning mathematical concept of recognizing shapes at home with activities.
The resources also support the Victorian curriculum as it states the learning of mathematics
concepts through digital computation, external activities, teaching using materials etc.
Strength of resource
The resource is increases the critical, problem solving skills in the kid and also makes
the kid learn the different shapes of the geometry and figures and their names for the life rather
than temporary. The mathematical strand of Victorian curriculum of geometry includes 2-D and
3-D shapes and their names along with counting sides and vertices in that shapes helps the kid in
learning the counting and also recognising the different shapes. The resource benefits the parent
in also making their kid learn multiple things like shapes and items of home at one time (Osman
and Manouchehri, 2018).
Weakness of resource
The only weakness of resource is it is not applicable in learning every mathematical
concept and some time some activities are not possible at home.

The one resource chosen for mathematical concept Geometry for learning and
recognizing shapes is the best concept to support the fun and educational activity resource and
also to accomplish the rationale of the essay. The resource include following factors:
 Activities like puzzles with different shapes of geometry to make kid learn both problem
solving and different shapes.
 A parent should arrange various things of home like ring, box, glass, food items like
bread, egg, nachos etc. in front of kid and ask them to pick item as per the different
shapes or place similar shape item together to make them understand the concept of
geometry as per the Victoria curriculum (D'Esposito and et. al., 2019).

 Parent should organise search and hunt activity at home and ask kid to pick any item with
square shape or circle shape and other shapes of geometry.
 Parents should teach kid to draw shapes like square, rectangle triangle etc. using the
sticks for better understanding of mathematical concept of geometry.
 Parent can also draw shapes on floor and ask kind to jump on particular shape announced
by them.
