INTRODUCTION
Resources are consider as tools and instrument of a business which are uses to perform the
activities and attaining the business goals. When people are running business then it is required
to have enough resources that can help to provide the better quality of products and services.
Talent planning is consider as skills and abilities of a person which are uses to accept the
challenges in business and get them competitive advantages (Ployhart, Weekley and Dalzell,
2018). It is important for business that employees should be motivate and satisfied then only they
can work effectively and maintain the good performance in competitive environment. This
project report is based on John Lewis that is department stores selling different types of products
at retail prices. This involves labour market trend and legal requirement, anticipated and current
skills, process that contributes in effective recruitment and selection and human resources life
cycle that uses in HR Strategy.

P1 Current labour market trend that influences talent management and workforce planning
Talent management – A process of collecting, recruiting and organising the skilled
people in organisation in order to completing the task and attaining the business goals is depicts
as talent management. Talented people are those individual who understand the goals of
organisation and give their efforts to complete the working by accepting challenges. Whereas,
labours are working for live their daily life by getting earnings. In John and Lewis, having
talented employees and labours who are working collecting by understanding their roles and
responsibilities so they can perform well and increase the organisational performance (Dalal and
Akdere, 2018).
Types of Labour Requirements
Labours are people workers who ready to work physically as they are not skilled and
talented. Such people are mainly working in factory as they work for completing the task and
giving profits to organisation. In John Lewis, labour are also working in different working that
help to complete the goals. The types of labour are as defined:
Unskilled Labour – This type of people are illiterate and not skilled who mainly works in
factory, mines and construction that helps to fill their requirement and earn some amount of

skilled workers are working as a cleaner, transportation, delivery and performing the task that
can help to complete task.
Wage Employees – In labour category, this is another type of employees who work on
daily wages basis. They works for organisation while running business and delivering the

workings of organisation and fill labour needs.
Economical – In UK, after Brexit number of businesses established which have influenced
trend market and workforce planning as they get job opportunities which they wants to fill their
need that influences positively.
Social – The needs and wants in current labour market is different where organisation need
to focus on them and should be provided accordingly that can attracts employees make happy. In
UK, current labour market is facing this challenges that has influenced WF and TM as they are
not able to filling their needs by working because management is not properly managed that
make dissatisfied to employees.
Technological – Technology is growing faster where current labour market has taken a
place in current labour market. This impacts on workforce planning and trend market as most of
the works are started to work from machines that has reduced the demand of labours that has
impacted negatively.

candidates with different skills and talent that helps to work accordingly and attain the business
goals. In John Lewis, work force planning is a effective strategy which is uses by people in order
to attracts customers and selling them products and services. At the time of working all business
firms are required to follow the legislations and rules are as defined:
Equal pay Act, 1970 – This legislation was given by labour government of UK for the
purpose of preventing rights of all employees. According to this act, management should treat all
employees equally by paying equal that motivates them and perform all activities effectively.
