Response to colleagues’ posts
Response to Kierra Mason’s post
I agree with Mason’s post that for one to ensure flow and cohesion in his/her writing, there must
a rhythm which is defined by the stress partners of words in a sentence. It is important to
incorporate rhythm in a written work since it adds melody to words and helps the writer to
prevent monotonous sentences (Crossley, Dascalu, Trausan-Matu, Allen, & McNamara, 2016).
However, as opposed to Mason I personally don’t face any problem developing a topic sentence
because I have acquired a number of tips which enable me to do this with ease.
Response to Dana Archuleta’s post
Archuleta’s point of view fits well in my writing experience. Beforehand, I have been facing
challenges while trying to ensure nice flow of ideas in my write ups. In regards to my instructor’s
feedback, in most cases my written works lacked clarity and conscienceless, but fortunately I
have noted a slight improvement. Use of short active verbs, being specific, providing context,
and organizing my text are some of the principles I am following to ascertain clarity in all my
writings.
Response to Alfred’s post
I agree with Alfred’s reflection that logical connections, topic sentences, transitions, clear,
concise wording, and varied wording and sentence structure are the primary ways to ensuring
flow and cohesion in any writing task. It is true that incorporating these in a paragraph helps the
writer bring fluidity to his/her writing. I would also like to add that in order to further improve

flow and cohesion in any written work, the writer should ensure that main idea of every
paragraph is clearly stated (Dan, Duc, & Chau, 2017).
