The student argues that the restaurant does not focus on meal duration, citing customer satisfaction and value as the primary reasons. The post explains that prioritizing customer experience and providing attentive service, even if it means longer meal times, is seen as more important than quickly turning tables. Additionally, the post mentions the restaurant's staffing capacity and the potential for rushing customers as other factors. DURATION DISCUSSION 2
Does your restaurant pay attention to meal duration?
The restaurant does not pay attention to meal duration and there are reasons as to why the
restaurant does not do so. The first reason is associated with the aspect of customer satisfaction
and value. Meal duration emphasizes the need to serve customers faster with the expectation that
they will leave the restaurant as soon as they get their meals and drinks. Customers are valuable
in any given hotel or restaurant. Therefore, they should receive treatment that shows that they are
respected and valued. The second reason is associated with the capacity of the workers to keep
up with time (Kaiser, Silberberger, Hilzendegen, & Stroebele-Benschop, 2016). The restaurant
has no enough workers to meet the needs of customers instantly. A hotel must have enough
employees who immediately meet the needs of customers for it to pay attention to duration. The
third reason why the restaurant does not pay attention to duration is that there are customers who
wait for a long time before getting their orders. It would be rude to keep a customer waiting and
try to rush the customer when he or she is done with food or drinks.
Does your restaurant make any effort to manage duration?
The restaurant holds different virtues and principles compared to other restaurants and
therefore it is not making an effort to manage duration. The management of the restaurant
believes that customer satisfaction is the key to success (Sudhagar, 2018). Therefore, there is no
need to dictate the time that a customer should spend after making an order. The management
gives customers the time they need to spend in the restaurant as long as they are not idle.
