RFID IMPLEMENTATION IN WALMART AND METRO GROUP
Introduction:-
Radiofrequency identification is one type of wireless communication technology. RFID
is helping to connect between the electrostatic radio frequency and the electromagnetic spectrum.
RFID helps to transmit the signal through the antenna. This system design can distinguish among
the transmitted signal and receiver signal of radiofrequency. In this research, the researcher
focusses on the RFID implementation of Walmart and Metro group [12]. In this research, they
observed that integration and coordination operation are essential for the related process and
inventory management. The focusing portion of this study is to understand the impact and
flexibility operation of RFID technology. The researcher also concentrated on the evidence of
RFID in the logistic providers. In these articles, the researcher also provides two different case
studies based on wall mart and metro group, respectively. This case study is related to the RFID
implementation and benefits of previous mentions companies. At the end of this article, the
creator creates a performance analysis of RFID.
Discussion:-
Article Content:-
Radiofrequency identification is the most innovative technology for an organization's
supply chain management. RFID delivers updated and appropriate information about brand
manufacturing, cost and production [5]. If any organization implements this technology, then
they quickly grew up there business. Apart from the output, this technology can help to improve
consistent customer services.
RFID is one part of Auto identification technology. This technology can help to capture
all automatic information at any point of time [3]. Apart from the RFID, auto-identification has
many examples like smartcard, barcodes, fingerprint detection, OCR etc. Radiofrequency
identification can execute their system without human assistance. This automatic system can use
to signal to receive and transmitting this another antenna. The RFID technology is including
readers, software and tags. The RFID tags are the most significant component which is
discovering as a data carrier. Two types of RFID tags are passive tags and active tags. Passive

tags are very much cheaper. They have no batteries and range also not high. The Active tags are
very much costly, but their range is high and have batteries.
The RFID tags are very much appropriate application for the data reading and data
transmitting. With the help of a wireless scanner, this technology can help to store all business
information in a particular device. RFID can develop the extensive data set and improve the
efficiency of operations by using identification tags [6]. This identification tags can help to
monitor the systems for the place, time and person correctly. In this article, the researcher also
identifies the organizational benefits of RFID technology. After the implementation of RFID,
any organization can quickly recover their security and privacy difficulties. They also increased
the official information efficiency and accuracy. With the assistance of RFID, the organization
can create a dynamic supply chain systems. This dynamic process can improve business
productivity and retailing operations.
In this assignment, the researchers provide some stages which determine the relationship
between Supply chain and RFID. Information technology has been the essential structure of
cooperation and competition for modern business. RFID infrastructure can help to improve the
accuracy of production and manufacturing ratio [8] .The researcher also mentioned some data
about radio frequency identification in the retail sector. One American based business
organization wall mart implement this technology. After this implementation, this business holds
likely twenty billion dollars in their business account. The annual profit of this business is
expecting twelve to fourteen billion dollars. In this article, they provide one calculation of the
RFID in the business wholesaler. Every percentage are the example of business growth like
promotion sales, shelf availability, count accuracy, stocks and production.
The first case study is about the Wal Mart group. The United States-based organization
founded by Sam Walton in 1962. In 1967 this business had enhanced to 24 stores within the US.
In this year, this organization had reached a profit like 12.6 Billion US dollar. Fortunately, these
rates are increasing day by day, and they had reaches 4, 78,416 Billion US dollar [2]. At this
moment, this organization has 11,528 branches all over the United States. Apart from the US, the
department of Walmart is spreading in Brazil, Canada, Argentina, Mexico, the UK etc.
According to the research, the customer rate and employee's number are 176 million and 2.3
million, respectively. There are several reasons for increasing the business rate of Walmart, and
RFID implementation is one of them. Walmart launched the Radio frequency identification

project in 2004. The distribution sector of this RFID was Texas [10]. The eight Walmart
branches first started a test program, and after that, they met 100 suppliers in Bentonville. After
the successful meeting, they try to create sales RFID tagged [2]. The outcome of this decision is
very much impactful for Walmart. In the year 2005, the number of Walmart stores are increasing
for these tags, which have permitted Walmart to increase stock efficiency through the stores.
This business organization can track the valid promotion within the store. The advantage of
RFID at Walmart is this organization removed many human processes, including shipping and
receiving. By the help of these techniques, Walmart was efficiently reducing the incorrect data
entry error. The customers got a better deal, and they saved a massive time.
Another case study is the metro case study. The germen based organization are launching
these techniques in 2002 [9]. After implementation, they also reach a top position among other
retailers in Germany. For this technology, the metro group provides excellent customer facilities
and their production rates also increased by 1.3% [4]. The Radiofrequency technology improves
the replacement procedure from the backrooms and decreases the out of stalk issues.
Findings:-
The outcome of this case studies based on a performance dimension that includes
coordination, cost and data sharing. It is also identifying from the application of RFID in the
different business organization like Walmart and metro group. This technique is automatic
techniques which are helping to improve business manufacturing [11]. This technique is running
without the assistance of human beings. All of this consumer is likely to use these techniques for
safety and saving their time.
Another finding is data sharing which mainly depends on the technical specification of
this system. The auto-identification technology provides technical requirements. These methods
are very much useful for customer safety and security. The significant finding is that two
business organization implement some modern plan for the customer. After launching this
technology, more than 50% of customers easily accept this [2]. This process provides a
significant number of information for suppliers and customers. The essential variations in the
arrangement of the current systems are suggested to make use of data created by such practices.
The metro group was concentrated to enhance its sales rate and try to implement more updated

RFID processes. Cost factors are the essential aspects, and two organizations are quickly
reducing their system cost.
Methodology:-
This project is very much successful because their methodologies are appropriate. The
higher authority of this business knows about the consequences of RFID implementations [2].
The automatic identification methods are very much helpful for the company. This organization
set one fundamental benchmark, which is very much useful in this business. The authority
makes some significant relationship between supply chain management and radio frequency
identification. These automatic systems monitor their strategy daily. Using a different
methodology, the business official quickly improves its production.
Conclusion:-
The main resolution of this article to provide a complete description of the effect of RFID
technology. In this article has made a relationship between RFID technology execution in Metro
group and Walmart. RFID can be used by the large wholesaler to update supply chain process.
The advantages of RFID are they protect organizational security. RFID is also helpful for data
storing and information collection methods. RFID tags are handy tags for the business. By using
this tag, the system operator quickly receives the information and transmit this. The system can
send a signal through the antenna, and this signal receives by the RFID chips. By using the
RFID, the reduced supply chain cost is more than 75%. Without RFID, this business increment is
not complete. RFID provides a flexible product effective operation, and this operation is very
much user friendly. If all organizations should follow the RFID process, then they easily enhance
their business.
Recommendation:-
Some disadvantages are also available in RFID technology. In this article, the author
cannot focus on the difficulties. If small business organizations are trying to implement this
technology, they cannot. The cost of these systems is very high. This technology is very much
complicated to understand. Without a trained technician, this technology is not easy to use. The
RFID tags are generally more prominent than barcode levels. If the chip rate is not so much
costly, then all businessperson can implement this. The RFID chip cannot authorize to read credit

card and passport data. If the creators follow these difficulties and resolve it, then the user of
RFID should be increased.
