PROJECT MANAGEMENT
1. Introduction
Rio Carnaval is mainly considered as one of the largest Carnaval in the world which is
celebrated for 7 days by millions of people all around the entire world. The festival that was
conducted has both positive as well as negative impact as per the concept of project
management. Therefore, the report reflects on both the positive and negative aspects of Carnaval.
2. Positive and negative aspects of the project
2.1 Positive of the project
Positive 1:
The first positive impact of the project that is identified is that the project effectively
follows proper management framework during the lifecycle of the entire project. It is identified
that the famous parade in the Carnaval festival is mainly joined with the help of several teams
where both relegation as well as promotion system is present. Therefore, for the project
managers, the 7 days’ occasion is not only a festival but it is one of the actual project for them
which helps in elaborating their work as well as importance (Oosterbaan 2017). Each of the
project team generally try their best to produce a better quality of output during parade and
therefore each of the project managers mainly uses proper framework of project management
that helps them to properly manage as well as complete each of the project activities in order to
properly create the parade (Lopes and Juliano 2015). Moreover, it is found that the project
management framework mainly includes details that are associated with project scheduling,
planning, project budget, risk management as well as communication plan.

2nd positive
Another most important aspect of project management that is mainly identified in the
Carnaval is the teamwork that can be reflected from the curtains of the parade. Each of the
project team who is mainly associated with the parade, generally have large number of project
team who generally coordinate with each other within the execution as well as preparation of the
parade. In order to achieve success within the parade, the project team generally has different
types of work that they have to completed in a very much short duration (Winter and Young
2015). Moreover, the output of the project must be kept efficient as well as defined in spite of
the rushed one. Additionally, the financial project aspect is helpful in driving the motivation of
the entire project. It is found that for the performers who are associated with the parade, there are
huge amount of monetary rewards however the performers who will perform up to the mark will
generally be penalized and therefore the team members take the entire responsibility of
emphasizing on the project team work so that all the team members must work together in order
to reflect on the best possible result of the project.
2.2 Negative of the project
Negative 1:
The negative aspect that is generally noticed within the Carnaval project is the absence of
proper security of the project. It is identified that in order to properly set up the parade, there are
millions of live views as well as huge members who are mainly associated with the project and it
is identified that the different team members who are associated with different team are generally
forced in order to perform activities that are risky (Fratucci, Spolon and Machado 2015). After
analyzing the reports of recent years that there are number of accidents as well as serious injuries

that are generally faced by the team members. On the other hand, it is found that in spite of this
type of incidents, there is not proper security throughout the years as the project managers does
not have proper management plans in order to prevent different types of project accidents. This
mainly occurs, as the project managers who are associated with the project does not focus on the
risk management criteria and they also have not taken any initiative in resolving issues at the
initial project stage.
Negative 2:
Another negative impact of the project that is identified is the absence of proper planning
within the project. It is identified that proper planning is not undertaken within the project due to
lack of proper time. It is found that in most of the cases, the team members generally have a
project roadmap however, it is only used for the parade based activities that are required to
perform. In addition to this, it is found that activities like scheduling, budgeting as well as others
are generally ignored as the team members are unable to understand their responsibilities for the
project properly (Hao et al. 2016).
3. Conclusion
It can be concluded from the entire report that both the positive as well as negative
aspects are generally identified in context to project management from the project that is mainly
undertaken. Moreover, it is found that Rio Carnaval is quite popular in the world and therefore it
is necessary to identify the good as well as bad implications of the project effectively.
