SCENARIO 1
Introduction
Risk assessment is used to check the safety of the machines that will identify hazards, reduce
damages when relocating machines to another location. When planning for risk assessment, it is
best to refer standards so that risk plan will give an accurate result. The process of risk
assessment is to discover the hazards, hardness of hazards, the frequent occurrence of the hazards
and how to implement and reduce the hazards. Risk assessment is a key route that helps to
relocate to a new location without any damage, as it helps to identify all harms that could occur
during moving. Some countries like Australia, UK and USA uses a predefined procedure that
clearly discovers the hazards before relocating.
This risk assessment report for a metal fabrication factory located in western NSW, they were
planning to relocate their business. Legislation and risk assessment have guidelines that help to
move to new location and helps to handle the business in located place.
Objective
To develop a risk management manual that helps to relocate the business successfully.
Risk during moving and handling
Moving and handling task are related to huge number risk. Thus, need a guideline to discover
and control risk while moving to another location. The legislation, policies, shifting procedure,
assisting and training staffs, a layout about where to place the machines and furniture.
Client features like size, time to implement, weight, willingness to shift and ability to understand
to choose the method for transferring and repositioning the instruments.

This act is to make sure that the health and safety of the employees in the organization.
Check the system is safe.
Arrangements to make sure the safety in relocating machines and how to store and handle them.
To protect employee’s standard instructions is given to supervising and training the workplace.
Maintaining the new workplace in good condition.
Each employee should take care his or her work so that the condition of the machine stays
secure.

Risk Assessment and why risk Assessment
To manage the health and safety of the workplace, risk assessment becomes the essential
sections.
Risk assessment is performed on the bases of legislation and regulation. Regulation on how to
handle equipment’s and manage the risk that occurs.
Depth analysis to relocate
The risk in the job: If they unfamiliar with their risk then result may be dangerous. The Layout of
the new location has to be given to the client so that arranging the machines will not be
impossible while relocating.
Slip and trips: Containers may slip while transferring and it may trip with another machine so
damaging components could be possible. If this situation occurs then what should the employees
could do has to be documented. To avoid damage to other machines and employees, good lifting
equipment’s and procedures about how to lift is documented. All employees are requested to
wear the safety dress and shops to avoid slips due to oils in the machines.
Transportation to workplace
Due to the lifting and transporting in a lorry, there is a chance of occurring internal damage and
machine fracture. A container that carries the machines should not be visible while transporting,
segregation has to be done in the proper measure.
Working with Heavy objects
Handling heavy objects should carry more carefully because it not only damages the space and
machinery but also can damage employees. A trained filter has to be appointed to lift the heavy
machines.
Tool refining
There is a possibility of occurring injuries during the use of machines, this may cause serious
injuries to the users and other equipment’s. So allowing to use the trained staff avoid this kind of
risk.
Working machine from a height
Lifting heavy machines to height may fall due to the weight; it could damage the floor, another
machine in the ground, may fall on peoples. All the works are assessed as discussed on filters,
these instructions are discussed before the job works. For safety, a trained filter uses ladders and
towers.
Manual Handling
By handling heavy machines employees can have back pain or any other pain. So manual
handling of equipment could train before doing works. Contractors has to ensure that their staffs
could handle the work carefully.

Noise occurrence
Handling heavy machines could result in noise that could affect the hearing damage to the
employees. Staffs are requested to wear safety equipment’s to avoid damage.
Electricity maintenance
Handle with care in use of current, because of possibility of getting current shock due to the fault
in electrical equipment’s. Providing the electricity safety measures to the employees and
contractors has the responsibilities to ensure the safety measures.
Confined Spaces
Possibilities of occurring fatal and injuries, so placing machines on the confined space should
handle. Risk should be assessed before so accessing them, rescue plan should be held
beforehand.
SCENARIO 2
Introduction
Risk assessment is more important in analyzing and handling risk during uncertain situations.
Regular monitoring on small stores can avoid from high damage. A risk is identified in a
newsagent that a theft occurs in their store. By analyzing the risk they find out that the by
installing CCTV cameras and an alert machine that gives alarm whenever the theft occurs. They
expected a cost of less than $1000 but the actual cost is $5000. They regularly monitored the
store to avoid theft.
Risk management is necessary for small business
Risk assessment/ management process has a series of steps that ensure to understand the risk and
decision-making. The owner of the newsagent does decision-making.
Health and safety tool helps to learn about hazards. Consideration of guidelines helps to handle
the store, storeroom and other areas in the store. Some occasional events like changing display
and bulbs are also taken for risk assessment. Consultation with staffs helps to learn the
knowledge and experience that gives the safety of the store. The previous report on risk
occurrence explains the previous problems that help to manage present risk occurrence.

regularly.

Verbal abuse, shoplifting may suffer assaults, threat. Staff are trained to resist a robbery. CCTV
installation helps to stop being a threat.
Deliveries
During deliveries, staff might get an injurious due to struck in vehicles. Newspapers are
delivered in the early morning that avoids traffic. Trips to receive the cash may be busy all times.
Cleaning chemicals
Cleaning chemicals could give skin irritations, eye irritation and breathing problems. Staffs who
handling cleaning chemicals should wear safety dress and mask that protect them from above-
mentioned irritations.
Electricals
Faulty wiring on the building may result in current shock whenever a rain occurs. So fuse box
has to be maintained and a qualified electrician should check the wires to identify if a fault in
wire connection.
Managers and staff carry out most of the action in the newsagent. Electricity and cleaning
chemicals actions purely carried by the working staff.
