AI Summary
This report delves into the critical issue of road safety in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), analyzing the significant problem of road crashes and their associated injury severity. The report begins by establishing the magnitude of the issue, citing statistics on fatalities and injuries from road accidents in KSA, highlighting the alarming rates and the impact on public health. It then identifies the primary causes of these crashes, pinpointing driver behavior such as mobile phone use and lack of concentration as key contributing factors. Furthermore, the report explores the various interventions implemented by the Saudi Arabian government to mitigate these risks, including the introduction of mandatory safety standards, road safety programs, and healthcare services. Finally, it examines the coordination mechanisms between different government bodies aimed at harmonizing efforts and increasing the effectiveness of interventions. This includes infrastructure improvements, such as road shoulder paving and the installation of safety features. The report concludes by emphasizing the need for continuous improvement and collaboration to reduce road accidents and improve road safety in KSA.

Risk factors associated with road crashes and injury severity in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
1. What is magnitude of road accidents in KSA?
Travelling through motor vehicles is the dominant form of transformation that tends to
take place in Saudi Arabia. In the year 1971 to 1957, it is being studied that 564762 number of
individuals died or were wounded because of the misfortunes that happened on the road. It is
about 3.5 % of the total number of the populace in that of Saudi Arabia. It is being assumed that
about 66914 individuals died on the roads in Saudi Arabia because of road accidents. This,
however, indicates the fact that one individual is executed and four people are being injured in
every one period in the road accidents. Various researches that have been conducted indicate the
fact that about 65 per cent of the accidents tend to occur because of the speed travelling of the
vehicles or because of the drivers who are disobeying the signals of the traffic. Considering the
deaths in the ministry of the health hospitals, it has been considered that 81 per cent of the
deaths tend to occur because of the accidents happening on the roads and it is to be noted that
about 20 per cent of the bedsteads are being employed by the victims of the accidents happening
on the roads. On the other hand, various studies that have been done in this field claim that a car
accident tends to take place in every minute in the year 2017.
2. What are the main causes of road crashes in KSA?
One of the main reason that tends to lie behind the road b occurring the KSA is that the
drivers are more involved or engaged in the using of the mobile phones rather than on
concentrating on the driving. Lack of concentration on driving is also another cause for the road
crashes that tends to take place in the KSA.
3. What are the interventions applied to reduce these risk factors?
Various policies have been introduced by Saudi Arabia to prevent traffic
accidents from occurring regularly. Some of the safety systems in the models of
2018 have become very much compulsory (Mansuri et al., 2015). A various number
of safety standards and specifications have also been announced and restructured.
The facilities related to that of road safety was being initiated. The national traffic
safety committee is being established (Ghaffar & Ahmed, 2015). Motor vehicle
periodic inspection program is being commenced. Health care and emergency

services are also being initiated.
4. What is the coordination mechanism between different government bodies
to harmonize the efforts and increase interventions inefficiency?
The coordination mechanism between different government bodies to
harmonize the efforts and increase the interventions inefficiency are being
conducted by undertaking the following maintenance and construction:
Paving of the road shoulders (Ratna, 2017).
Cultivating the slide slopes
Broad bridges to cope up with the widths and shoulders of the road
Development of the laybays of the centres and even on the edges of the
highways
Providing ways with fences, guard rails, indications through the use of the
warning of the kilometre markers and signals of direction (Jadaan, 2018).
