AI Summary
This report provides a hazard assessment based on the Alberta Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) program. It identifies potential hazards across various job roles within an organization, analyzes the associated risks using a risk matrix, and proposes control measures to mitigate these risks. The assessment covers physical, chemical, biological, and organizational hazards, focusing on tasks like battery engineering at Apple Inc. The report concludes by emphasizing the importance of strengthening safety standards and establishing robust working structures to minimize risks, highlighting the need for proactive measures to ensure employee health and safety.

1HAZARD ASSESSMENT
Executive summary
The purpose of this project is to assess the hazards involved in the tasks of any job and
associate with its respective risks. The list of jobs of Apple Inc. has been determined and
thereafter the jobs are divided into its respective tasks. The several hazards for each tasks are
assumed and thereafter it is associated with a particular degree of risks. The risk matrix has
also been prepared to determine the position of the company with respect to the risk and
solutions to avoid the risk has been provided in the risk assessment table. The report is
thereafter concluded by determining what should Apple do to avoid such risks.

3HAZARD ASSESSMENT
Introduction
A hazard assessment is the process of identifying the possible hazard that can cause
damage to the people working in an organisation. The hazard assessment is done to control
and eliminate the possible hazard (Bouge, 2018). The study has elaborated the job roles and
job description of the Apple Company. According to the job description of the company the
following risk has been encountered in the paper (Hopkin, 2018). Hazard assessment is done
with respect to the risks associated with the occupation of the employees.
Discussion
Apple Inc. is a multinational company, being headquartered at California, America
was founded in the year 1976 by Steve Jobs, Steve Wozinak and Ronald Wayne. The
following paragraph discusses about the hazard assessment of the various jobs provided by
Apple Inc.
List of Jobs in Apple
Several jobs are available for several departments in the organisation. The
departments are hardware, software and services, design, operations and supply chain,
marketing. Corporate functions, sales and business development, apple retail and support and
services. The list of jobs in this organisation is:

The hazardous task
The hazardous task in this case is assumed to be the battery management. The hazards
associated with each tasks and their respective risks, how to control the risks are provided as
follows:

The risks
The risks associated with the physical hazards are that it creates damage to the
employees’ health and thereafter the working structure becomes questionable in nature. The
safety risks come under light and the company’s goodwill can be affected.
The risk associated with chemical hazards in this case is that the workers use a
mixture of chemicals in making batteries. Improper use of those mixtures can lead to blasts
and can affect the work environment as well as the health of the workers.
Risk associated with the organisational structure is that there can be several ideas
from different employees and hence there can be conflicts.

7HAZARD ASSESSMENT
It is a matrix that shows the level of risk possessed by the various jobs in the
organisation and it is grouped as per the likelihood and severity of the nature of the jobs and
the respective tasks. The risk matrix in case of apple’s battery management segment can be
grouped into the number 6 as there is physical, chemical and organisational hazard associated
with this particular task.
Conclusion
From the above analysis it can be concluded that every organisation is associated with
several types of hazards. There are several jobs in an organisation and each and every tasks
being performed has a hazard associated with it. The hazards are associated with certain risks.
It is concluded in this report that Apple is also associated to a certain degree of risk and it has
been marked as 6 with reference to the risk matrix table. The company should therefore
strengthen its safety standards and make strong working structures.
