Introduction
The multinational corporations are always eager to develop its operational branches in
several emerging countries for enhancing their sales margin, brand value and
profitability. The operations of the multinational corporations create an impact on the
social, environment and economy of the host country. This study focuses on the
creation of a project management plan by determining the project objective, aim, cost,
quality, communication, risks, resources and time. The work breakdown structure that is
described in this study also focuses on determining the time frames that is required for
the completing the various stages of the project. This study also focuses on the small-
scale research method that is conducted on River Island for depicting its effect on New
Zealand.
Background of the company
River Island is one of the biggest fashion brands in UK that operates in the global
market with around 370 stores worldwide. Bernard Lewis and his brothers (Limited,
2019) established it in the year 1948. This company offers products like footwear,
children clothing, men’s wear, women’s wear and various other accessories. The net
income of the company is around 944 million pounds and has around more than 72,000
employees.
Overview of the host country
New Zealand is one of the wealthy Pacific nation that have two cultural groups
associated in the country namely the descendents of Europe and the descendents of
Polynesian settlers. The economic mainstay of the country is agriculture but in the
recent years tourism and manufacturing sector occupied most of the financial strengths.
The export market of New Zealand is quite diversified as the country has respectful
trade links with US, Japan and Australia.

Introduction
This part focuses on the introduction of a project plan by providing the objectives,
timeframes and aims of the project. This part depicts an explanation about the control
techniques and the organizational structure that is used by River Island by providing an
analysis on the work breakdown structure and Gantt chart.
Definition of Project Management and Project
Project: It is defined by the project management body of knowledge as “a temporary
endeavor with a beginning and an end and it must be used to create a unique service,
product or result” (Cleden, 2017).
Project management: This term refers to the method that is used for organizing the
various activities related to the project (Kerzner, 2017). The project management faces
several barriers for developing the various project objectives.

project planning. The appropriate data collection method is also analyzed in this project
which creates an impact on the economy of the country. The quantitative data is

Cost breakdown structure, cash flow statement and budgeting are the three techniques
of cost control. Cash flow statement is an financial statement which depicts the various
ways in which the changes in the balance sheet and income statements affect the cash
equivalents. Budgeting refers to the plan that is required for spending money in various
activities. Cost Breakdown structure refers to the process of allocation of the costs
according to the work breakdown structure (Chatterjee and Lygeros, 2015). The cost
breakdown structure is used in this project for allocation of the cost.

Control Techniques (P2)
Control chart, quality control chart and flowchart are the control techniques that are
used while depicting the project plan. The control chart is useful in evaluating the
methods that changes the process over time. Flow chart depicts the workflow, algorithm
and processes in a diagram by dividing the task in a step-by-step manner (Minchala-
Avila et al., 2015). The quality control chart is used to depict the measurement of
processes regarding the meetings of the specifications.

Analysis of the project management processes
A) The process of project planning can be increased by evaluating the objectives
accurately and providing a project schedule by analyzing the risk, cost and time.
B) The importation process can be faster if the process of execution is measured
according to the time period. Automated process will reduce the time consumption and
hence it can be implemented.
C) The process of communication and the feedback forms are necessary for evaluating
the demands of the stakeholders for improving the project planning.
D) The cost control, cost budgeting and cost estimating tools can be used for reducing
the costs of the project planning and implementing the project efficiently.
E) The project management designs can be interpreted if it is written according to the
effective schedule and then proved by the supervisor.
Conclusion
In the end, it can be concluded that there is a requirement of several assessment of
costs, time and risk for the development of the project plan. The development of the
project plan is essential for River Island for expanding their market in New Zealand. This
part also highlights the fact that River Island requires to acquire the matrix
organizational structure for developing an appropriate project plan.
