The full form of ACS code of ethics is Ethics Code of the Australian Computer Society. It
is important for each individual to maintain the code of ethics especially in their profession.
The code of ethics consists of the following:
 The primacy of the interest of public
 The enhancement of quality of life
 Competence
 Honesty
 Development in profession
 Professionalism
The scenario deals with the robotic surgery and the ethical dilemma of the IT
professionals who develops these robots that can be used in surgery (Kuespert, 2017). The
first thing that the IT professionals should keep in mind that they should place the public
interest above their private or business interest. IT professionals should not intentionally
make the development of the robots wrong otherwise; it can take the life of a patient if
anything goes wrong during the surgery. They should not do it for profit they should keep the
public interest first and then their personal interest. If they do such thing, the code of ethics of
ACS will be breached (Warren & Burmeister, 2017).
The IT professionals must upgrade the quality of life of those people those are affected by
their work. The surgery robots those are developed by the IT professionals should do the
surgery successfully so that the patients get well soon. They should not do anything that will
degrade the lie of the patients. If the development of the robots goes wrong then during the
surgery, the patient’s life will be taken and the code of ethics of ACS will be breached

developing the robots for surgeries.
The IT professionals must be honest during the development of the surgery robots. They
should be honest in the representation of skills. .They should not use their skills in a bad way.
They should not be dishonest when they are developing the robots. If they are dishonest and
here is an error in the codes of the robots then the surgeries can go wrong due to the
malfunctioning of the robots and it can take the life of a person. The IT professionals must
work diligently for the stakeholders (Leicester, 2016). The stakeholders are the patients and
the company that buys the robots. Therefore, they should work honestly and diligently so that
they do not harm the life of the stakeholders. If the surgeries go wrong due to the
malfunctioning of the surgical robots, then the stakeholders will be harmed as it can take the
life of patients and there will be a bad reputation of the company who is selling the robots to
the hospitals. The IT professionals must upgrade its professional development and the staffs.
They should work properly so that they can develop an upgraded robots that can be do
successful delivery not malfunctioned robot. Therefore, they should keep in mind the code of
ethics of ACS when they are developing the robots for surgeries.
