UNDERSTANDING THE EFFECTIVENESS WITHIN AN ORGANIZATION
Last year on 2018 I had one of my significant interactions with The Royal Melbourne
Hospital since we were taken from our college there, for an excursion. The basic objective
behind visiting such a hospital was to identify ways in which the hospital was being run,
various experiences of patients who come from different nations with wide variety of caste
and culture and type of treatment as well as medication they receive over there. This
particular hospital is located in Parkville in Victoria that is in the inner suburb in the city
Melbourne. The basic purpose of this hospital is to provide various ancillary services like
care towards aged people, ambulance services for emergency conditions, rehabilitation as
well as other residential or community services through the site at Royal Park. At most
surgical as well as medical facilities are usually available at this hospital (Fowler et al. 2014).
Development of sustainable systems, necessary implementation in order to maintain acute
compliance with the level of EQUIP National Standards and therefore this organization
renders future scope to employees and doctors to practice management of risks, display their
leadership skills that would help in development of the organization. They have Acute
Services towards admitted patients which comprises of most of the expenditure on their
treatment and contract of services to various private hospitals as well as treatment of facilities
act as further scope towards recurrent funds. I feel myself lucky to interact with one of those
patients there and through this I got a chance to improve my communication skills as well. I
learnt that from the patient’s relatives who were present there that a Programme based on
Safety Culture was conducted in the hospital and this particular programme helped to raise
awareness among those employees and staff members, general authorities regarding
delivering of services through quality care as well as management, transformation of culture
within an organization and ensuring the fact that people abide by Code of Conduct within the
organization and spread values and support towards health facilities. I also heard by talking to
one of the staff member in the hospital that nearly 76,391 number of people are engaged in

the hospital that represent Department of Emergency. Approximately 2212 patients from all
over the world undergoing through trauma are treated here and there are opportunities to
17244 elective surgeries in this hospital. During the month of June in 2018 the hospital took
certain initiatives to prevent Occupational violence as well as Aggression within the
organization and this helped the hospital to undertake certain measures in association with
clinical stuff as well as security teams. A special Pathway for Adult Sepsis was constructed
across the RMH in the previous year and since then it has helped to reduce mortality in
relation with sepsis at the rate of 50.4%. There was also an annual program on vaccination
that was held two weeks ago since then, and through that programme it induced vaccination
rate of staff at the rate of 83.2%. Through these programs they have confirmed protection of
various patients, consumers as well as other colleagues. Effectiveness of an organization is
usually measured in terms of comparison of net profitability with that of target profitability, it
also takes into account satisfaction keys of customers. According to my point of view these
terms of effectiveness associated with the hospital is mostly dependent on leadership,
structure associated with decision making, human resources, systems and processes
associated with work culture and ability of oneself to survive in the sustainable environment.
The cultural impact due to organization has been able to increase effectiveness within the
environment. I also got a chance to interact with sales manager at international level and he
told me exciting stories on travelling to various parts of the world. I could understand that
effectiveness prevailing within the organization actually throws light up on the idea of
satisfaction of people who are holding various positions in the hospital towards their job.
They are providing multiple training facilities to people specially nurses and staff members
and they work with full diligence to serve the patients with best of their facilities. Coming to
the fact of human resources, employees are awarded with Victorian Public Healthcare
Awards for best performances and in one of the programs associated with RMH Refugee

Healthcare they ensure various refugee as well as immigrant patients have got a chance to get
access to world care services associated with health (Flenady et al. 2016). Such provision of
good quality services usually have an impact on organization reliability and support and
therefore I think on the basis of criteria of various programs that they conduct it determines
their standards and they have also been able to raise revenue funds for provision of these
healthcare services that has helped to raise economic standards within the market.
Considering other views associated with stakeholders in the organization for example owners,
suppliers, creditors and Government officials, they have reported that hospital has taken
initiatives to raising concerns for the purpose of management of energy, water as well as
waste management (Morris et al. 2014). The various programs that are conducted for the
clinical benefit of youth have helped to achieve subsequent standards in terms of health
benefits and this is a rising factor that has been mostly supported by various groups of
stakeholders in the organization. However I would like to suggest that this organization must
undertake a coherent approach in order to bring strategy diversification within the various
levels of organization. I would like to comment up on the fact that the organization must
adopt certain practices towards technologies that would help to improve the quality of
services provided and it would reduce time and investment of large sum of money from the
side of patients (Carville et al. 2015). Introduction of new units for Coronary Care and
Angiography, construction of operation theatres with incorporation of advanced new
technologies, building of more number of laboratories for endovascular procedures and
oncology units would help to improve such services (O'Halloran, Worrall and Hickson,
2015). Care must be taken that patients can get comfortable services from these and this
would help to increase financial stability of Melbourne as well. I would like to comment over
the effectiveness of this organization and I really appreciated the fact that people from
different parts of the world are treated so well and equal opportunities are given to them

We had a very nice experience during this excursion and I wish to visit many such places in
my future to learn more about the people, their lives, their places and I am quite interested to
take part in social gatherings if I get the opportunity to meet people in other organization.
Visiting the patients, on meeting their families and getting to know about so many things
associated with hospitality industry that I aspire to serve them in my career ahead and I wish
to become a doctor to serve my nation and my people in the country as well as from abroad.
