Introduction
The report aims at finding a sustainable solution for the identified civil engineering and
construction problems. The report focuses on four main learning outcomes. First, it helps to
select a project which requires a sustainable solution. Next, it focuses on designing and planning
the whole project with the help of project management plan specifying a timeline, budget and
specification. The report also helps to enhance the knowledge about the various project
management strategies and techniques which are required for managing the project. The main
theme of the project is “Sustainability in the Construction Industry”. The theme is chosen such
that it helps to find the construction methods and techniques which can increase the project
sustainability. The topic selected for the project is “Rural Road Development”.

P1
The project selected for the report is Rural Road Development. The reason behind the selection
of this topic is the construction of rural roads will help in increasing the connectivity between the
urban and rural area. It will help in the economic growth of the country. Construction of rural
road will increase the employment, increase agricultural development, and enhance health,
education and transportation system.
The traditional method of developing roads was very expensive and they utilized and wasted
resources without much concern. One of the problems faced in the traditional method is that road
does not have a longer lifetime. Conventional method exploited the natural resources and caused
harm to the natural environment and surrounding and hence it is very necessary to derive the
solution which is cost-effective, consistent and does not harm the natural environment and
society. To achieve this task a sustainable approach should be followed. Sustainable
development is the approach which helps in utilizing the resources in such a way that it does not
harm the society, economic and environment.
P2
Specification of the project is the type of document in which include the project goal,
construction objectives, work material and cost planning, proper budget management and include
the required resources. With the help of the specification, protocol completed the requirement of
the project according to the need. A major requirement of the specification of the project
(1) The goal of the Project: Goal is a parameter in which include the objectives and
introduction part of the Project.
(2) Scope of Project: In the application of the scope determine the specific work activity,
measurable operations and time application of the project activity. With the use of the scope,
function identifies the feasibility of the project (Addis et al., 2016).
(3) Stakeholder Identify: Identify the stakeholder which is interested in the project.

(4) Communication: With the use of the communication protocol determine the complete
details regarding the project. Range of high and perfect communication increases the
performance of the project.
(6) Plan of Management: Plan of management is the activity in which include the all the task
parameter which is followed during the construction work.
(7) Budget and Cost: Budget and cost is a very important factor in construction work. All the
activity of the project should be mange according to the plan of the budget and cost parameter.
(8) Work Breakdown Structure: With the help of the breakdown structure determine all the
activity and task which is followed in the project.
(9) Work Scheduling: Work schedule is the part of the activity with the help of them describes
each and every activity and increase the performance structure of the project.
(10) Quality Protocol: When the project follows the working policy and standards on that time
quality of the project working should be increased.

specification is the application with the use of them improves the quality of the work and
maintains the all activity according to the time requirement. The protocol of specification is also
providing the cost structure of the project to determine the activity plan. When the project
follows the principle of the specification on that time efficiency of the working output should be
increased. Project progress should be achieved with the use of the tool of specification (Brookes

(1) Resources of Potential Work: Concept of rural road development is based on the
development of the sustainable application. For the construction work, use the proper resources
to manage the activity plan. For the construction use the renewable material on the behalf of the
cement. Use the proper capacity of the machine and human for the construction work. Planning
of the construction resources is depending on the basis of the work of the construction. Use the
different type of the resources of potential like JCB, work labour, tank of water, construction
truck, loader, paint material, worker, machinery, steel, power supply, roller and construction
material for the concept of the road development. For road filling, protocol time management is
the basic key to complete the task. According to the work planning mange all task activity and
use the proper resources on behalf of need (Fang et al., 2018).
(2) Working Cost: Cost is a very important factor for construction work. All the activity or task
for the construction work should depend on the parameter of the cost. Maximum 600 million is
the cost estimate of the large size of the construction fieldwork. According to the available
resource justify the cost parameter. During the construction fieldwork planning of the cost, an
estimate is very helpful to manage the all performed activity. Interested sponsored and
stakeholder is the part of the project cost. Proper communication with the stakeholder and
sponsored managed the cost activity on the construction task. On behalf of the construction
resources activity plan the cost application.
(3) Work Timeline: Duration of the project completion is the factor of the work timeline. For
the development of the rural road construction required the maximum number of days is 410 to
complete the construction work. When the timeline of the project complete should be increased
at that time dependency of the cost and resources should be increased. Work timeline the very
important factor for the construction work with the help of them manage all the working
operation activity (Hoy et al., 2016).

Different Solution Technique:
(1) WBS (Work Break down Structure): It is the technique in which mange all the perform
activity of the project. Complete work structure of the project is divided into the composition of
the hierarchical of the work plan. All the activity which is performing during the construction
work it should be divided into a small component of the activity. It is the structure of the tree in
which include the different activity which is performed during the construction work. With the
help of the WBS, the protocol generated the framework of the complete construction work. The
aim of the WBS function is easily managing each and every activity which is performed in the
construction work.
(2) Diagram of Activity (CPM and PERT): With the use of the PERT activity protocol
determine the time estimation like expected, optimistic and pessimistic function. In this
application not identify the parameter of cost. CPM technique is the technique in which
determine the cost and time for every activity which is performed during the construction work.
The main advantage of the CPM technique is the analysis of the cost and specification time
parameter for the construction activity (Khan et al., 2016).
(3) Scheduling of work with the use of Gantt chart: When they all perform activity should
represent in the term of bar graph it should be included in the term of the Gantt chart. With the
help of this application define the finish and end date of the project. With the use of the project,
milestone determines the complete rate of the project. The use of the Gantt chart application is
determined all the perform activity in the term of scheduling so the work plan should be easily
managed. Term of scheduling is identifying the complete time duration of the project complete.
When the project follows the scheduling function on that time completion rate of the project
construction should not be increased.
(4) Management of Project Plan: Management of project plan is the platform with the help of
them defines each and every step of the construction work. With the use of the management, plan
activity defines the complete planning of the project work and also identify the budget protocol
for the work. In the management of the project plan includes the planning, maintains, work
