During the beginning of the interview with Jeremy Paxman on Newsnight, Russell Brand
referred to himself as an ideal person. He says that he does not know too much information on
politics but he does possess thought to speak about alternate political systems. Russell says
upfront that he does not vote or rather does not believe in the concept of it, and as a counter
question Jeremy asks that why would anyone listen to someone who does not possess the
authority to speaking if he does not fulfill his constitutional rights.
According to Russell Brand, people are being lead into believing that there is only this
one system where they have to vote but nothing is improving from that system, the current
system only serves a specific group of people and for their own benefits. The planet is being
destroyed and also being tainted at the same time like it always have been and the economy is
under a distress. The political class that has been going on for generations have reached to such a
level that Russell Brand is not voting because of apathy but rather he is not voting because of
indifference and intolerance from the lies that have been presented to the people. When Jeremy
Paxman tries to persuade him by telling him that he can be a part of the change by voting so that
the old system does not keep on repeating, Brand says that voting in the first place has created
this current paradigm. Brand mentions that he has never voted in his life because he does not
believe in the system, which is being represented by the government. He is a man of conviction
who does not want a revolution but want people to wake up from the lies and depravities of the
government. While being cheerful and trivial, he bashes the system and provides more facts than
statements. He wants to overthrow the current political system and wants the people to stop
voting, not because there is a better alternative but to tell people to stop pretending that the
current system is actually beneficial to them, while actually it is not. He is furious about the
inadequacies of the politicians to an effective and meaningful change.

According to Paxton, he presents himself as a person who is adjusted to the system and
from the start of the conversation tires to steer up Brand to know why he wants a revolution from
the current political system. However, when Paxman asks Brad what actually gives him the right
to edit a political magazine when he does not even vote, Brand replies in a fashionable manner
that he was in the chair of the editor because an attractive woman asked him politely. Despite the
fact that it was a very interesting debate and a confrontation, but Paxman severely lacked the
question stock because Brand was fully prepared. He presented himself as a serious academic
with solid political ideas and well-researched rebuttals.
Though Russell Brand does not blame the current political system for his drug addicts
days directly but indirectly the system is responsible because of the negligence and the mass
economic depravities that is still causing people to take up drugs. The revolution is a change that
Brand presents and wants the people to know. To him the currently system is misleading
information and serving only those who are the higher ups in the society, only the systems which
serves the planet and the population should be allowed to run. Paxman tries to change the flow
when he says that who should be allowed to run the system then, to which Brand responds that
there are peole who are more qualified than him and certainly more qualified that the current
government that runs. So instead of voting for just a show where nothing good is actually being
done, he wants people to vote when there would actually be helpful the planet and themselves.
Some more unobtrusive, more subtle strategies incorporate dread mongering, utilizing
government’s reserves, specifically or in a roundabout way, for battle reason or for harming

system can be changed for the betterment. To which Brand responds that due to a huge disparity
between the rich and the poor, according to him there are 300 Americans who possess the equal
wealth of 83 million poor American citizens and where it is a clear exploit and underserved
class, which is being ignored since the beginning. As a solution, Brand believes that there should
be a socialist egalitarian system, which is based on the massive redistributing of wealth and
heavy taxation of corporations. Energy based companies should be monitored so that they are not
used for the exploration of a selfish need for any individual but to serve the environment overall
(Noori, Kucukvar and Tatari 2015). The current system does not addresses the term profit
because according to him , it is a filthy word which does not show the deficit that comes with the
profit, information are being manipulated and people who believe what they are told. After the
existence of a centralized administrative system, which is systematically, placed like an
adminbot so that, they do not function for their own needs and benefits but for the people and the
planet. The powerof government officials over executives have dependably been preeminent.

system. Though he does not want to fight the government alone but he does want the people to
wake up and stop supporting the ones who only benefits themselves and does not do anything

that is not related to their gain. He believes that the time of change is now because unlike before,
many exploitations of the government is revealed to the people like tax havens or the political or
financial affiliations. Conservative parties and other political system have manipulated people
and resources since forever and now according to Brand, the time has come to shift the tide.
People have been treated unfairly and Brand wants to be a part of the change that would come
afterwards. If he did not mean what he actually said, then all can agree t that he truly is a very
good actor.
