Introduction
Ryanair is one of the major Irish airline operators that operate various cheap and low cost airlines
for proper transportation of their customers. The organisation operates in more than 100 airports
in Europe, Africa and Middle East Asia (Corporate.ryanair.com, 2019). In addition to that
betterment of organisational culture through power and behaviour of management can help to
improve market condition and thus reduce possibilities of financial loss. Moreover effects of
organisational culture over behaviour and feeling of staffs will be discussed critically to clearly
understand the impacts. At the same time the current study can help to identify various
motivational theories that can impacts on team and individual performance.

P1 Culture of organisation and nature of power and political behaviour of the
organisational management
Organisational Culture, power and political behaviour
Culture of Ryanair is analysed and discussed with help of Handy’s typology according to the
needs.
Handy’s typology: According to this typology, there are four classes of organisational culture,
these are, Power, role, person and tasks. According to Scherer et al. (2016), application of
power culture can help an organisation to concentrate power among few group members and
radiate the power from the centre of the organisation. On the other hand as supported by
Cameron and Green (2015), implementation of role culture can help to provide a clear idea to the
staffs about various job specific roles in the organisation. Thus it can help to maintain
hierarchical bureaucracy according to the needs of Ryanair. At the same time application of task
culture can help to cross check various functional departments against different project teams
over times as per needs. Moreover application of person culture can help an organisation to
provide training to their staffs based on their background and experience to maintain similarities
in workplace.

For proper analysis of nature of power ‘French and Raven’s power’ theory is applied.
According to this theory there are five forms of power that can help an organisation to properly
distribute the power and maintain a greater control over their staffs. The types of powers are,
‘Coercive power’, ‘Reward power’, ‘Legitimate power’, ‘Referent power’ and ‘Expert power’
(Leroy et al., 2015). Therefore, application of these powers can help to improve decision making
capacity of Ryanair as per various critical situations over time. On the others hand, for proper
analysis of political behaviour Chantal's characteristics of political behaviour is used and thus
it can help to develop general political approach within organisation and thus it can help to
generate new ideas as per requirements. Moreover, it can help to develop appropriate
organisational behaviour and provide optimum success to Ryanair.

Effects of identified cultures on feeling and behaviour of staffs
Identified cultures can provide directs impacts over feeling and behaviour of staffs by reducing
coalition in workplace and improve cooperation among employees thus it can provide a friendly
environment to the staffs and provide scope to them to feel free and share their issues. Moreover
it can help to improve market condition and improve their service quality as per requirements. In

leadership and reduce obstacles in decision making process in cross functional perspectives. On

Power, culture, motivation and politics can help a Ryanair to provide a unique and friendly work
environment in the organisation. Additionally, according to Gerpott et al. (2017), it can help to
improve the capacity of Ryanair to improve good relationship with target customers with help of

P2 Contents and theories of motivational theories and technique for achievement of goals
Content and process theories of motivation can be applied in Ryanair to identify different
particular factors and motivate their staffs in workplace to enhance their performance. Maslow –
hierarchy of needs theory can be applied as a part of contents theory of motivation. Thus it can
help to identify different psychological needs of staffs and fulfil them to enhance individual and
team capacity within Ryanair. In addition to that according to Kovach (2018), identification of
security and safety needs within an organisation can help to retain its employees and hence
reduce threats of higher employee wages. Similarly belongingness and love with employees can
help to improve market opportunities and motivate individual employees and team members to
enhance their performance. Moreover, it can help four CEOs of the company and reduce
challenges of Ryanair to control their cost in target market. Besides it can help to properly
control their expanded fleet of 200 Airbus B737 Max aircrafts. On the contrary according to
Leroy et al. (2015), pressure on one particular CEO can reduce its control over the organisation.
Moreover it can help to esteem appropriate value of the staffs and promote them with appropriate
respect. Therefore it can help Ryanair to grow according to its full potential as per requirements.
Thus it can help different level of staffs in Ryanair to maintain self actualisation in the
organisation.

M2 Critical evaluation of different ways that can help process and content theories of
motivation to effects on team and individual performance
Application of Maslow – hierarchy of needs theory can help Ryanair to properly control their
employees and monitor performance in a hierarchical manner. Therefore, as stated by Scherer et
al. (2016), it can help to achieve greater control of the staffs and perform according to full
capacity of the organisation. At the same time application of this behavioural motivational theory

the contrary according to Hubbard and Lopp (2015), application of Skinner's reinforcement
theory can help to develop an appropriate scope of positive reinforcement that can improve
motivation level of staffs in both individual and team level. That can further help Ryanair to
improve their market position by overcoming their loss of €20m in third quarter of financial year
2017-18. In addition to that the ancillary revenues of the company are able to perform strongly
up to 26% with help of record low price of fare. Hence the company can overcome the current
financial loss with help of appropriate motivational strategies.

D1 Motivational factors to improve organisational performance with proper
recommendations
Ryanair can achieve quick success in the industry by motivating their staffs towards optimum
performance. The company should implement Maslow – hierarchy of needs theory and it can
further help to distribute power in a mannered ways among different members in the hierarchy.
In addition to that it can help them to maintain good relationship with their staffs and reduce
threats as per requirements. On the contrary as stated by Gerpott et al. (2017), an organisation
should apply process theory of motivation can help staffs to select appropriate board members.
Thus it can help staffs in Ryanair to provide more revenue to the company through
implementation of cost leadership. In addition to that it can help the company to hire appropriate
person as CEO of Ryanair Sun and Laudamotion. Moreover it can support their decision of
organisational restructuring.
