How can SAB apply Lean layout in their business?
The lean layout is essential for a brewing process since the process is labour intensive and time-
consuming. Therefore, through the use of lean design, it will improve brewing efficiencies time
and production optimization. For SAB to apply lean plan successfully, it requires first to identify
if there is an existing problem, then if any perfect measures are to be implemented according to
the cause of the problem (Uzorh, Olanrewaju, and Nnanna, 2018).
The following are lean layout concepts to be implemented in the SAB business.
Redesign the production layout of the brewing process, thus improving workflow, using
necessary storage tools, and have supplies on-hand. Time wastage for searching ingredients will
be minimized. For SAB to achieve this should have well-trained workers (Daferighe, James, and
Offiong, 2018).
Through the use of imaging-based technology machine in the production unit. The technology is
proficient in confirming fill levels while bottling, labelling and packing, also can investigate and
monitor the bottle placement while orientating beer label.
The lean layout is useful for inventory management control. SAB can maintain top value
standards of the raw ingredients and be ready when required. The condition will increase the
efficiency of in-progress inventory, thus saving time to produce a finished product, which is
bottled beer (Muster-Slawitsch and Brunner, 2018).
Through having a good relationship with SBA suppliers will bring in a lean plan to the business.
Individually crafted brews are required at the correct amount from suppliers to produce flavoured
beer with increased demand in the market. Therefore, lean plans through suppliers promote the
final quality of the product.
