INTRODUCTION
Safe work practices are important for direct client care. It describe various kind of skills
and knowledge which require for ensure health and safety as well as working environment which
directly impact on clients. Government of Australia also focusing on these legislations. Through
these legislation they can safe employees rights. With the help of these laws government support
employees in positive manner. Beside it employees also done work for long term in a effective
manner. This report will also cover information on case study and its associated existing and
potential risk. Also, it will provide knowledge on curing these disease with effective
measures(Cochrane and Tamiru, 2016).
TASK-1
1. Name current WHS legislation ruling in Queensland, Australia.
Safe work Australia created a unique WHS laws set in 2011 also known as “model laws”
established all over Australia. To make these legally bind in nature states have to implement
these separately. This model is attached with two more laws which are regulations and codes of
practice. Every territory is responsible for their own area for enforcement of laws. The basic
purpose of this act is to give neutral environment on national scale for workers and their
securities. It protect workers from harm, render fair treatment, promote organisations & unions,
enforcement methods and strengthen & balance WHS national approach(Coffey and et. al.,
2017).
2. Legislative provisions related to Queensland.
(a) Crucial role of Victoria WHS authorities work in regard with legislation.
All legislative provisions provided by this law is implemented in most of Australia and
does not change state wise. The only work of each state such as Queensland is to follow all
regulations and be in code of conduct while regulating laws. Each state is to administer these and
are obligated to introspect and since a higher authority checks and analyses all these regulations
weather they are implemented or not. Penalties are made on states if such are not followed
properly, Queensland shall follow each and every regulation provided by legislation to avoid any
consequences these laws are, to make sure proper health and safety of workers,

(b) Explain four divisions below :
2 major rights employees have under legislation.
Giving equal opportunity to everyone.
Payment of work on time and adequate amount.
2 responsibilities employers have under the legislation.
Maintain workable and safe environment for workers.
Providing proper facilities like wash-rooms, eating zones, medical kit etc.
2 rights workers have under the legislation.
Proper compensation and remuneration.
Right to refuse to work at unsafe place and environment.
2 responsibilities workers have under the legislation.
Follow proper instructions and procedures while working and to avoid any negligence.
Report directly about broken equipment and unsafe environment.
c)How do codes of practice, such as codes for hazardous manual tasks and infection
control, support the legislation?
These are set of rules and set bind together in form of conduct and proper standard of
working environment of a business. These do not over power any laws given by WHS but these
provide a simpler for of solutions. These shall also be admissible at every stage of an judiciary
court. This accumulates as an evidence in the proceedings known as an hazard, control and risk
and shall be used as major element if it fits in correct circumstantial situation. Hazardous manual
tasks and infection control, is to keep working environment clean and provide sanitary
environment to all workers (Dupuis and et. al., 2016).
3. Meaning of hazard
It defines the connect between safety measures which shall be taken case of while
working in an organisation. Its a major element which effects health and safety of a person in a
workplace. The risk involve din this factor is that any member or worker shall get infected or
affected on grievous levels in case of unpredictable incidents.
4. Provide 2 workplace hazards in following:
(a) hazardous manual task: these tasks involve an person to physically use their body to lift,
lower, pull and push an item. In case on an fire if the fire extinguisher is old or doest work it can
cause many issues . Second if in case of working in a mine if any person get injured it takes a lot
time to bring him up and leave to an urgent medical help.
(b) Infection control risk: in this when a place is not sanitised for instance wash-rooms are
supposed to be cleaned after a set period of time to avoid infection all members using the facility.
Second if a person is infected by an disease which can spread through contact or air, such person
shall be put in proper care and treatment and certain safety measures should be taken while
coming in contact with such person(Dusek and et. al., 2015).
2

(c) Personal safety risks: in such situations a person is affected in situation while working in a
very dangerous place or location here one shall not be negligent while working in such
environment and should be very cautious. For instance while working as a glass cleaner for big
building or worker at an stone or marble industry in both situations one can get grievously hurt if
not taken care and not follow proper procedures of conducting the work.
5. Provide policies and procedures of WHS purpose.
This is a proper procedure which is created in WHS act that defines all certain protocols
that shall be followed while working in a workplace and risky environment. The workers jobs
and opinion shall be known before making any such provisions and it changes from every
different business organisation. Some basic rules are as following :
solve any issues related to health and safety.
Talk to workers about their needs according to their job.
Keep a track of every workers health.
They shall be trained and if any person isn't well shall be guided towards proper
treatment.
These shall be mentioned in written format to avoid any confusions and give clarity in each and
every rule. These steps shall be easy to understand and follow so there is no confusion in it's
understandings. This also helps in maintaining standards, procedures and rules within workers.
These things are legally bind and if not followed by worker or employer any can be sued in

recorded according to their effect on major departments.
Identify any such risk which shall be linked to client like behavioural reactions. Such
should be informed immediately and recorded in books.
8.Provide meaning of safety signs mentioned below:
Safety sigh Explanation of sign
This sign indicates any individual to be warned before using anything
which has such sigh over it. It contains potential poison compound which
can even cause grievous hurt. Such signs are put up to show that this
content will not be life threatening but can cause lot of harm on physical
health(Hooker, Small and Taft 2016).
This is to warn any person who is working around dangers associated with
plenty biohazard elements. Also such material is sharp receptacle, these
are put up to avoid any needle getting stuck inside cleaners while
working. It promotes the correct usage of sharp needles and their disposal
to avoid any situation of injury to a person.
These signs are called nuclear signs to warn people going near to such
sites or areas. Such places are very reactive in nature and can cause death
as well people who work in such environments have to be very cautions
and have to follow several procedure and rules to work with it.

9. Provide two signs which show stress and fatigue while workings.
A person who has stress and fatigue in the workplace has serious levels of physical
reactions such as headaches, muscular tension and sometimes sleeping issues.
A person can also become mentality unstable through stress as it can cause depression,
irritability and in some cases an person can get anxiety attacks
10. In need of reporting about stress and fatigue whom is reported in work environment.
In general work places generally the senior in hierarchy level is complained about any
issues faced by an worker or an employee in any organisation. In many companies human
resource team is set to discuss and resolve issues like such of employees which have been
suffering from such problems and do not have any particular solutions in it. In contract working
environment of mines and marble factories, head of the work is informed and gives solution to
all such problems (Jussab and Murphy, 2015).
11. A client from home informed about her being unwell and her reasons define that she got it
from her grandson. One of her friend is also visiting she assumes that she might also get
infected.
(a) Source of infection is the grandson of the client since most diseases can also be passed
through not maintaining proper sanitation hazards in house (Luther and et. al., 2017).
(b) Since the client got infected by her grandsons visit so definitely any person who comes in
her contact or use facilities of house like wash-room can also get infected.
(c) The client should inform her worker to keep safety measures and avoid any physical
contact or if possible should skip working unless she gets better.
5

(d) the basic two standards are as following:
waste disposal: one shall be very particular to dispose off such garbage in proper place so
that other people do no get affect from it.
Hand hygiene: one shall be very particular in touching certain place of house and keep

The client should have kept the wash rooms clean.
Kept distance from having physical contact with her grandchild and clean the house after
his visit to avoid in-taking bacteria and germs.
12. Looking at the diagram mentioned above, provide that does it produce less strain on
musculoskeletal system compared to bend on waist.
In cases to not get such injuries one shall make more space to give more area for body to
divide weight over (McCabe and Sullivan, 2015).
Stand closely to object being lifted or pushed or pulled.
In both procedures the diagram shows the correct procedure to lift any object to avoid any
circumstantial injury in body.
13. Provide two procedures found in WHS Policy & Procedure Manual about handling with
minimum level of risk.
The basic two principles mention in WHS act 2011 is as following:
recognise hazards: one shall be very keen about several hazards which are constant and
predictable in environment to avoid the repercussions from it. For example a person
working in a nuclear farm shall follow all procedures to not get affected from it and avoid
any chances of getting affected.
14. Benefit of debriefing in needle stick incident over a worker.
This helps in preventing people to get hurt while working in open spaces and be infected by
needle sticks. Such several cases have been record and due to that the WHS has made
provisos to help in such cases and made it an proviso to aware the people(Newell, Nelson-

3 Consultative meeting
On the basis of above described existing and potential hazards, it has been identified that
high observing behaviour of Charlie is most hazardous. This is because, Charlie is in a growing
age and her skills will increase day by day. This will increase chances of hazard as she will
conduct more hazardous activities in future. This situation can be cured by hiring child carer for
Charlie. This will help out in analysing each and every of Charlie and also save her from wrong
misconduct(Warmelink and et. al., 2015).
PART 2
I was at work when the fire alarm rang within the premises. As soon as I heard the alarm,
I shouted out to my other team mates and asked them to vacant the place as early as possible. For
this, they were asked to move out of the emergency door that is specifically for the fire situation
within the entity. With the evacuation approach, I was successful in saving a number of lives
from getting caught in the flames of fire. The next thing I did was to call the Fire Emergency
Team which is specialised in extinguishing the fire. It came within a time period of 15 minutes
and with the help of their equipments, got control over the fire in a matter of 20 minutes.

CONCLUSION
From above assignment it is concluded that there are some standard precautions offered
at workplace. These helps in preventing damages to life or property due to hazards. Workplace
safety is a legal requirement that is necessary for preventing on the job injuries and accidents. It
is essential for every organisation to provide safe and secure workplace to their employees and
workers. The tools and equipments used by workers must be handles properly. Companies which
are using hazardous chemicals must provide effective trainings for handling them safely(Zhang,
Lingard and Nevin 2015)..
