Answer to Task 1
For telecommunication installation organization or an alternative business the needs are to make
note of the requirements of WHS guideline for seven main features related to industry of
communication technology they are:
a) Exposure to radiation of radio- frequency
b) Basic knowledge of working with electricity, specifically about the level of LV or HV
c) Working at spaces of height or confined in nature
d) Basic of manual handling to lift weight as per safe weight guideline
e) Concern about noise or vibration

Policies and Procedures for compliance of WHS legislation:

Evacuation As per direction, commencement of evacuation to be
started with switching off plant and equipments, close or
open doors and windows as per direction, extension of
assistance for disabled, no panic creation, no use of lift,
prohibition of re-entering building till further instruction.
No-Smoking within premises Use of smoking zone is to be strictly followed as any
violation can be penalised.
First Aid First Aid guideline is to be strictly adhered to with availing
urgent assistance from Fist Aid officer. In case of need of
ambulance, helpline is to be contacted or contact security

for necessary steps to be taken with information to the
patient for related cost of ambulance to be incurred by him.
Reporting of injuries The helpline no. 1800 811523 is to be contacted in case of
any injury takes place within the premises of TAFE

Personal Protective Equipment It is mandatory to wear designated PPE for avoiding injuries
as none is allowed within the teaching area without wearing
PPE. The examples of PPE are protecting hearing, vision,
footwear, etc2.

Being a TAFE student, basic responsibilities for compliance of WHS are:
a) To follow the designated signs with subsequent respect to them
b) To respect the concerned rules with safety procedures during the use of materials or
equipment with mandatory wearing of PPE to get rid of injuries
c) To act responsibly for reasonable level of care to protect health and safety of individuals
within the college premises which may be affected by acts or omissions of guideline as
set. This action is not to make harassment or making bully to others.
d) To report of any probable risks, happenings or misses to the faculties or to the college

There is a WHS Committee which is consisting of members with the capacity of implementing
the measures. They are:
 Head teachers- The basic responsibility of them is to make the stakeholders understand
the rules of WHS with full support to the learning procedures.
 Security guards- They are assigned with the duties to protect campus with the basic
objective of anybody within the premises of college and providing first aid as per
requirement.
 College facilities manager- They are assigned with the tasks of organizing for any
occurrence within the college premises if something is broken or needed to be replaced
through the designated contractors.
 Teachers – They are assigned with the tasks of informing the students about WHS by
providing the basic skills to understand the need and the process of Health and Safety
procedures.

This case study is emphasizing on lack of knowledge due to improper induction or fundamental
knowledge of electrical safety of the installer of workstation.
This has happened due to lack of proper work training and fundamental training process through
induction by Morgansson Pty ltd for all their employees which is related to health and safety at
work place, with the risk factors prevailing and the way to control them. These are basic
requirements for any worker before he starts his job.
It is also the duty of the supervisors to check if any new employee is fully equipped with the
basic skill to do the job before he starts his assignment.

As per the case study, it is the basic responsibility of Nerida to forward WHS information for
the employees as she is the owner of that business. This responsibility can be accomplished

Steps to be undertaken by Carlos to mitigate the risk factor of noise pollution of packing
machinery:
1st step- Identification of hazards along with assessment of risks related to the noisy packing
machine.
2nd step- As per the findings of detection of noise level of pre and post insulation, Carlos should
consider of encasing fit for the machinery.
3rd step- it is to be ensured that the referred insulation should not change the position of any
operating panels or other elements instrumental for smooth running.
4th step- Finally to assess with subsequent review to ensure that the insulation has made
improvement to the work ambience.
