The aim of this presentation is to discuss the various factors related to hman resource
in a highly reputed firm of America. Safeway is an USA based super market chain operating
in the market of the USA since 1915 (Safeway.com 2019). The vision and mission includes
to offer the customers those products which they want to but in fair price. As the company
has the history of serving its customers for 100 years and has earned the trust of the
customers, Safeway has been considered to be useful to discuss about.
Creating a Culture of Well-Being
Safeway has a hierarchical structure and teams in various departments have a
collaborative environment where the team members always help one another. There is a flow
of extracurricular activities for employee engagement. It will follow three measures like
Recognizing employees through rewards and appreciation for efforts, enhancement of
diversity in the teams and creating scope for personal development through trainings.
HR Planning, Recruitment and Selection:
Safeway Inc. must follow the direct recruitment of the sales assistants. Through the
interview process of direct employment, the communication style, the negotiation skill, team
work and cross cultural competence will also be understood based on which the employees
will be selected in this company.
Orienting and Training Employees for High Performance:
Safeway must follow the method strategic on boarding that will reduce operating
costs and improve personal contribution. The orientation program will include long term
learning, Job and department goals, in-house networking, performance expectations and
Support and coaching. In order to measure the effectiveness of the orientation program, a
metrics at the beginning of the program. This measurement method may include steps like

before and after new employee attrition rate, program completion rate, program participation
rate and the group productivity rate.
Managing Employee Performance:
The company while aims to manage or develop process of training, it measures the
employee performed through various tools like, Self-evaluation and review, 360 degree
performance evaluation, Checklist evaluation methods and Critical incident reviews and
graphic scale of performance. In this regard, there are some sections which the HR managers
themselves to understand whether the performance reviews of the employees are useful. This
also include, conversation of the performance and employee personal development,
implementing new changes and making the company familiar this in the organisation and
investing the automating the process of sales or customer care.
Rewarding and recognizing employees:
In order to gain full support of the employees, the company needs to implement
voluntarily to the employees. It can provide the employees the health care benefits and
benefit of life insurance. There are some job related services like professional training to the
employees about developing the communication and negotiation skills for communicating
customers in the store. The training process can also guide the employees for using automatic
vending machine and billing section. These will help he employees to work in a better and
equipped workplace which can create scope for both organisation as ell as employees to work
with loyalty.
