INTRODUCTION
Background of the research
In this present research the researcher has focused on determining the impact of
increasing employee turnover on the overall performance of the business (Chiat and Panatik,
2019). Employee turnover is defined as the total number of employees who leave the
organisation after a certain period of time. It is the choice of employees to leave the company
voluntarily and this affects the business performance and productivity in the long run. The
chosen organisation in this current research is Sainsbury's. Sainsbury's is considered as a
successful supermarket retailer chain which focus on offering great quality, delicious food at
competitive prices to the customers in the business market (Keneti and Sainsbury, 2018).

The conceptual framework of employee turnover.
As per the view of Kang and Sung (2019), it takes a lot of effort and time to find the right
type of people for the business organisation which helps in achieving the predetermined goals
and objectives in an effective manner. Because hiring the wrong person will have a negative
impact on the team and their performance. Employee turnover is defined as the number of
workers who quit or leave the organisation or being asked to leave and are replaced by the new
workers. It is regarded as a concern for the company because employees are considered as the
most important part of the business and helps in achieving high growth and success in the
market. It is the loss of talented employees which mainly involves any employee departure,
involving lay-offs, resignations, retirements, terminations location transfers and so on. It is
important for the business organisation to focus on retaining their employees within the business
for long time period because they help in gaining positive outcomes (Nie, Lämsä and Pučėtaitė,
2018). Measuring the employee turnover is quite beneficial for the employers as it helps in
examining the reason for high employee turnover within the company. Low employee turnover is
fruitful for the company and helps in retaining the talented employees for increased growth and
profitability.

As per the view of Lee (2018), increased employee turnover has a direct impact on the
performance and profitability of the company. Impact of increased staff turnover involves
reduced productivity, increased cost of recruitment, decreased profitability, low employee
motivation and productivity and many more. Reduced productivity is the major problem that
employers face because of high employee turnover within the business organisation. With gaps
in existing and new staff working in the company needs time to coordinate with each other and
in learning about the job role that they need to perform (Kelly, Gee and Butler, 2021). When
more number of employees leave on a certain basis this will result in increasing the cost of
recruitment for the company as they need to spend more of their money in hiring new employees
for particular job role. This also impacts the morale and productivity of employees because they
do not work with high efficiency and effectiveness to achieve the predetermined goals of the
business.

Research approach
Research approach is categorised in two parts and are defined as inductive and deductive.
Investigator will be selecting deductive approach in carrying out the present investigation in an
effective manner (Davidavičienė, 2018). The main benefit of selecting deductive approach is that
it helps the investigator in maintaining the accuracy and relevancy of the research by measuring
quantitative piece of information.
Research strategy
Research strategy are of different kinds and are mainly defined as experimental research,
systematic literature review, survey, grounded theory, case study and many more. For conducting
the current investigation in a proper way, the investigator will use survey method. The main
advantage of selecting survey research strategy is that it helps in assembling information from
large number of respondents in less period of time.

Research philosophy
Interpretivism and positivism are defined as two types of research philosophies. The
researcher will use positivism philosophy in the present carried on research so that the research
can be competed in the given time period (Rosskam, 2018). The benefit of selecting positivism
philosophy is that it accumulating the numerical data in an effective manner as it is easy to
understand and calculate.
Data collection
Primary and secondary are two different kinds of method that hep the researcher in
collecting data. In the current research, the researcher will select both the approaches that is
primary and secondary for collecting information on the selected research topic (Larshin and
Lishchenko, 2018). The main reason for choosing both the data collection methods is that it
helps in collecting and analysing information from questionnaire method.
Time horizon
Longitudinal and cross-sectional are the two types of time horizon methods that help the
researcher in carrying out the information in less time period. The researcher will use cross-
sectional method in the current conducted study on the particular topic. The reason for selecting

Sampling approach
Probability and non-probability are two types of sampling techniques that help the
researcher in carrying out the whole research (Chiblow, 2020). In carrying out the present

sampling method is used. The reason for selecting this approach is that it helps in evaluating and
interpreting accurate data from the from different number of respondents.
Ethical considerations
While conducting the present research, ethics play a very important role as it helps in
carrying out the research in an effective manner (Iovino and Tsitsianis, 2020). There are several
ethical principles that help in conducting the whole research such as getting consent, protecting
each representative and respondents so that no person is harmed while conducting the research
on a particular topic.

Limitations of Proposed Approach
While conducting the research, the researcher will face certain limitations because it is
not considered as an easy task to complete the whole research in an effective manner. Some of
the limitations of the research are lack of funds, lack of appropriate sources, lack of time
management as well as communication skills and so on. It is important for the researcher to
choose qualitative data also for carrying out the whole investigation in an effective manner.
