models, theory
Sainsbury the leading retail grocery supermarkets selling the consumable goods to all the
consumers across the world. Changes in the business organization are mainly of planned and
unplanned way. The planned changes are this which generally is being done by the organization
culture, also for establishing the new structures various new processes and the employee’s
welfare related to aspects. the unplanned changes are those which is not been decided prior by

arrive as an emergency or the crises in the management processes (Naidoo and Gasparatos,
2018). These were many changes being adopted by the company as for planned and as well as
unplanned change in the organization.
The various planned changes are being done by the retail supermarket Sainsbury in their
operations includes due to Brexit and covid conditions certain various changes made by the
company for overcoming the pandemic situation. the retail company has changes the processes
by adopting various simplifications. As by implementing the cost saving programs, also by
reducing the complexities and transforming the costs base, also improving the financial
performance of the company which helps in better delivery services with stronger shareholders

returns (Goić, Levenier and Montoya, 2021). Also the company is using new innovative
technology for driving up their sales and for improving the customer experience of their stores.
Due to covid pandemic various unplanned changes is implemented by the company, as
with new government instructions for taking the business entirely online, servicing the customers
form websites, apps. This was mainly the unplanned change for shifting the entire business on
the online platform as the e commerce business for the retail supermarket. Also due to brexit it is
the situation which has affected a lot of retail businesses as for not importing and storing the
goods from the EU Market. This will lead towards shortages and delays in obtaining various
goods and imposing high prices which affected the profitability and the productivity of retail
stores. rise in prices for importing of the fresh meat, milk and on various products.
The Kurt lewin change management model is the planned approach to change
management which comprise of three steps mainly the unfreezing, changing and refreezing
stages.
Unfreezing: This strategy generally makes people and staff members aware about the changes
which will be implemented in the retail supermarket. During this stage the Sainsbury has done
careful planning, by communicating effectively with the staff, members an encourage them for
cooperating with the change processes. For dealing with the brexit obstacles this model will be
appropriate as that freezing stage will help in scheduling for the suppliers for the fresh foods in
the EU and making connections with the new suppliers searching of the new suppliers must be
done in UK also the backup plan should be made with the names of various countries
considering the Asia and the rest of European countries.
Changing: This stage emphasis manly on the accepting the ways of performing tasks and doing
things. This stage involves the intervention of the changes and the new ways which must be
adopted for changing the various planned operations. Change can be used by the operation
management the Sainsbury for effective implementing the technical innovation programs, also
the support system portfolio which has in managing and boosting the sales and improving the
customer experiences, as the new technology is being implemented of the faster supply chains
for speeding up the products, improving the check out for the consumers, also reusing the
queuing time. also the Sainsbury is implementing the coupons will technology which helps in
assessing the systems about the customers what want to buy from the supermarkets. Also the

brand match up gradation is being made by the company which helps in improving the price
positions all these changes can be effectively be implemented in the retail stores by employees in
this stage
Refreezing: This is the stage of the stable positions where staff and employees more form the
change positions to free position for successfully implementing the change processes. In this
employees must be strengthened and rewarded positive for effectively managing the change and
adapting dynamic processes. This will be used by the company for providing flexible working
conditions to employees in the organization. in this case the staff personnel’s will be deducted
about various changes with the updated managerial processes and familiarizing the adverse
working situations (Lewin's Change Management Model, 2022). Thus the dynamic nature of
Brexit and covid the freezing stage will not give permanent solution for the changes as with the
covid the entire business operations of retail supermarkets were being shifted on the online
platform. With this pandemic situation the government changes rules and regulations regularly
with the respect of health, safety, and ways of operating business.
