Project Title: The current project is related to identify the positive cultural, economic and
ethical influence of globalization on various business functions of retail organizations such as
Sainsbury (Ghemawat, 2016).
Introduction: Globalization can be defined as the geographic dispersion of various industrial
and service activities such as cross border networking of various organization with the help of
assets sharing and joint ventures as well as research development, production and distribution
and likewise. Sainsbury is highly influenced by globalization in various manners such as
increasing trade across borders, labour migration, emergence of brands, off shoring and
outsourcing of production, as well as expansion of foreign direct investment (FDI). It has
resulted into increased competition along with financial and economic shift from developing to
emerging economies.
Project management is effective in identifying the appropriate business strategies and models
that can be adopted by Sainsbury to stay ahead as a result of competition because of
globalization (Kerzner and Kerzner, 2017). It includes various stages such as:
Conceptualization: suggestions and participation of stakeholder plays an important role in
formulating the plan of the project.
Project planning: It will focus on cost, scope, quality and other such aspects that will contribute
towards decision making. It will be assisted with the help of Gantt chart and estimation of
budget.
Launch and Execution: The stage is effective in implementing the plan as well as for maintaining
the quality of the product while tracking the performance.
Controlling Performance: Actual performance is compared with defined objectives to identify
the lacking areas in terms of performance and cost.
Project Closure: it involves final launching of the project along with project reporting.

Research background: The research will help to identify the influence of globalization on
various functional departments of Sainsbury and in this context it will further identify the
positive influence and growth related to economic and financial status of Sainsbury (Giddens,
2018).
Research Aim: The main motive of the research is to identify the positive ethical, economic and
cultural influences of globalization on various business functions of Sainsbury. It aims at
identifying strategies and business models that will support gaining competitive advantage as a
result of globalization.

Literature Review
According to Coleman (2016), Globalization is the process that facilitates easy interaction and
integration of business organizations across the globe. It has resulted into greater investment
opportunities as well as enhancement of international trade that has further helped the countries
to gain competitive advantage while undertaking production processes. It is also defined as the
economic concept that supports easy movement of goods and human resources across borders.

Along with positive implications, there are certain adverse influences of globalization on various
business functions that can be overcome by developing effective business strategies.
Positive cultural, economical and ethical impacts of globalization
As per Kennedy et.al.(2017), globalization has contributed in positive manner while enhancing
its overall performance in terms of its operations. It will improve its economic conditions with
the help foreign direct investments. Positive economic influence of the globalization will
strengthen the financial position of the organization and various functions such as marketing can
make use of more financial resources for attracting more number of customers as well as by
developing marketing strategies to expand the market at global level. Lum, (2017) stated that,
positive cultural influence will support the retail organizations to gain an advantage of skilled
workforce which in turn will facilitate the organization to develop innovative products. In
addition to this, globalization will help the businesses to have better understanding of business
ethics at global level which will further help to attain information related to changing business
policies, consumer satisfaction, employee benefits, as well as welfare of society.
Project management Plan
The plan includes various elements that support project completion in an effective manner and
are as follows:
Scope: The current project has scope to identify the positive ethical, economic and cultural
influence of globalization on various functions of business within Sainsbury. Relevant
techniques and methods will be utilised for collecting the data that will result into project
completion (Fleming and Koppelman, 2016).
Cost: Research cost will include all the resources such as human resources, technical resources
and financial resources for completion of the project. The research will estimate £2500 along
with additional cost of £300 as contingency reserve for handling risk.
Timescale: It will forecast the time duration for project completion as per the set deadline. It has
effectively planned the activities for 42 days i.e. 6 weeks for accomplishing the project.

Resources: The planning will focus on planning human resources, technical resources and
financial resources that will further contribute towards successful completion of the project.

Research Methodology
Research type: The current research uses mixed method research for gaining reliable outcomes.
It includes both qualitative and quantitative methods for conducting the research relevant to the
topic (Brannen, 2017). Both the methods are highly reliable however the current report relies on
quantitative method of research that support gaining statistical information related to identifying
the positive influences of globalization on various departmental functions of Sainsbury.
Data Collection Method: Primary and secondary methods of data collection can be used for
collecting the appropriate information related to the globalization and its influence on various
functions of Sainsbury. The current study will use primary method of data collection so that fresh
information related to the topic can be collected as per the experience and knowledge of the
respondents. There will be no biasness in the collected information as the entire information is
collected from the experience of the respondents.
Sampling Technique: The current research will use the method of random sampling technique
that will focus on selecting the respondents randomly from the selected population and their
responses are recorded on the basis of their knowledge and experience (Etikan, et.al.2016). The
chosen sampling size for current project is 50 employees of Sainsbury for gaining influence of
globalization on its various business functions.
Ethical Consideration:
The current project is conducted by considering all the research ethics in terms of confidentiality
of the information collected from responses, morality and research conduct. The collected
information is secured in computerized form with password security along with encryption code
for better security of the information. The research is conducted by ensuring that no personal
questions are asked along with fair decisions.
