INTRODUCTION
Human resource management (HRM) is one of the key department of the business
organization. Human resource (HR) department is responsible for the hiring and selection
of the effective employees that serve the cause of the business and achieve aims and
objectives (Foster, 2014). HRM is the process in which HR manager try and manage the
human resource as well as increase work efficiency of human resource through various
training and developing programs, motivation, communication, monitoring, administration,
etc. the main role and responsibility of HRM is to seek and recruit suitable person for the
desired place within the business organization.
The assignment chooses Sainsbury’s business organization as it is the third biggest
supermarket chain in the UK country with approx. 17% share of the supermarket.
Sainsbury's provides various ranges of products to their customers. Having more than
1400 retail stores in the UK and 186900 employees working for the Sainsbury’s business
organization makes it the perfect organization to understand the functions and roles as
well as the purpose of human resource management effectively. The assignment report
also focuses on the various recruitment and selection process that was used in the
Sainsbury’s retail stores and strengths and weaknesses of the process.
