INTRODUCTION
In corporate world, management as well operations both are responsible for carrying out
smooth workflow. It is defined as practices used by organisation to improve and deliver highest
efficiency at workplace (Fan, 2019). In business sector, it is crucial to manage & maintain
operations so that activities are completed on time period. Main aim of this report is to understand
the importance of management of operations through which goals can be achieved. Sainsbury, a
largest supermarket chain headquartered in U.K. The entity is located globally and has many
subsidiaries such as Argos, Sainsbury Bank, Home Retail Group etc. This report comprises of
operation management of firm, models and theories .

It is type of model which is used by enterprise to assist leaders to understand the structure
of firm & design or redesign it in successful manner. Through use of this model it help in clear
understanding of entity's overall workflow in simple manner. According to the viewpoint of
(Hudson, 2018), Sainsbury the COVID 19 has been a major & emerging problem which is faced
by firm current situational context. Due to this pandemic situation, business profit & sales revenue
has decreased. Firm is dealing with this problem by providing assurance to customers for safety
of their health by providing them non- contact delivery option. In relation with chosen enterprise,
they also uses this transformational model through which it become easy for them to carry out
decisions making process. It comprises of eight variables which are described below-
Environment- In business sector, it is important to focus on business environment so that
activities are carried out by managing external environment. It is crucial to be aware about these
external environment so that company is aware about change in market trends, consumer behaviour
, technology etc. In relation with selected firm, company carry put PESTEL Analysis to examine
the business environment. According to viewpoint of … it is seen that impact of COVID 19 has
affected business structure at depth. Through properly analysis of PESTEL, it is easier for them to
examine factors affecting business overall structure.
Strategy- It is another variable in which tactics & decisions are made by companies how
value is to be added to customer & competitive edge can be gained by firm. With help of Strategy,
Sainsbury is able to achieve goals & objectives in proper manner. For example- with emerging
problem of pandemic situations from past 8 months, enterprise is implementing effective strategies
to respond with this issue.

necessary to maintain a quality of objectives because customers always search for brand
who can deliver them higher quality of products (Mehmanchi, 2020). So, productions
processes & other activities are revised before delivering them to customers. Moreover,
quality team of company check all key areas or applications where improvement is needed.
Through this, objectives is achieved by entity at all aspects.
Speed objective- It is another performance objective in which it depicts the how fast service
is being delivered or operations are executed within a management. In perspective of
selected entity, goods or products are readily available to customers & within 8 minutes of
queue, consumers receives the receipt instantly. Thus, they are able to achieve this
objectives in proper manner. It is necessary to deliver speed objectives so that higher
productivity is produced at workplace.
Dependable- In this, it includes of retaining customers for longer period of time &
managing long term sustainability. It is crucial to focus on these such as by providing
offers, discounts, etc. to end users. Therefore, these operation performance objectives are
achieved by them in most efficient manner.
With emerging problem of pandemic situation, it is examined that organisational
performance has been affected at wider scale which decrease their overall progress level. Further, it
is also stated that practitioners & managers are one who understand issue & make effective
decisions so that problems is addressed properly. For example- managers of Sainsbury has been
able to identify this issue & accordingly they use strategies which help them to improve
organisational performance at higher scale.
Process design & analysis-
In organisation, it is crucial to have appropriate process design as well as analysis so that
products are being processed. It is important to use process deign in firm in such a way that higher
productivity is delivered. Process design in business is important because it assist in achieving of
effective results. For example- The management of chosen company is well aware about what they
are doing & through which process is carried out further (Prahlad, 2016). By having appropriate
deign helps in elimination of problem. Therefore, to have an effective design firm uses different

are adopted effectively. It will leads to achieving of competitive edge in market.
Moreover, another sector which need improvement is their marketing department in which
they should have relevant experienced people in management so that profit or sales will be
increased at higher scale.
Also, it is examined that manager should motivate subordinates to deliver best results which
is beneficial for business growth & overall development.
It is also suggested to company that they need to update their systems such as training &
development & should carry out at consistent level.
