The report will evaluate the job role of a sales employee based on the complexity of
the product being sold in midst of a dynamic business environment. This is divided into four
parts. The first one discusses the details of the designation, sales employee, in a certain
company, the specified criteria for applying the post and its responsibilities. In this due
course, I have to describe what kind of product or service the company sells as well as
whether the job role needs some specific qualification and skill or not. The next part
elaborates the company history and analysis of present industry it deals in. whereas, the third
one discusses about its customer base and target market; fourth part concentrates on the
specific problem which is being intended to solve by launching the product.
Role position of a sales employee
I have chosen Maybelline New York as my workplace. I aspire since my childhood
days to be an artist. Although, I did not pursue my fine arts classes yet I have developed
newfound love for the art of make-up while growing up. According to my specialization, I
have chosen this company to sale for and this designation satisfies me as well.
I need specialization in selling branded cosmetics products. Here, in this company I
would like to join the sales department of Maybelline Fit Me foundation
(www.maybelline.com, 2018). Foundations are idealized to be used while going for a party
for regular people. People, who are into performing arts, use this product as well. However,
the Unique Selling Point of Fit Me is to fit into women’s regular beauty regime. The job
designation claims to have a managerial degree on business. Additionally, they consider few
years of experience in sales. Although, company conduct training sessions for both the
fresher and existing sales employees to educate them with current market scenario and
product specification.

variations are wide and target centrally accomplished and urban women. The business started
considering women’s need of beatifying themselves (Johlke & Iyer, 2013). It is already an
established global brand and increasingly it is differentiating product range to make it
acceptable in contemporary makeup trend. The central competitors are Revlon, Avon,
Elizabeth Arden, Cover Girl, Coty and many more. While selling Fit Me I have to keep in
mind the USP of fit me as well as the points, which argue Fit Me is better than other existing
brands.
Details of customer base
Maybelline, New York for the foundation targets accomplished women who use
makeup on daily basis for satisfying work purpose or simply out of love for makeup.
Foundation is idealised as a heavy base for face make up yet Fit Me comes with scientifically
advanced formulas, which provides a glow to skin without being heavy or harmful. The target
is to engage women aged from 18 to 50, having a moderate income irrespective of occupation
and marital status. Additional requirement is to know the skin type and complexion as Fit Me
has wide range of foundations depending on different skin type. Besides, their previous
experience of using foundation and skin problems will be considered as necessary
information. Generally, women do not depend while selecting make up products yet
according to Steiling (2016), in the case of teenage girls, their mothers’ take the responsibility
after evaluating how safe the product is. Therefore, my target will be to convince the older
customers of Maybelline first to promote Fit Me for regular use. As per Baldus, Voorhees

mass customers’ response.
Customers need and product details
Most of the women are working and at the same time balancing household; so there
are very few opportunities to dress up and put makeup on. Although, increasing skin
problems due to stress, pollution and lack of maintenance is increasing day by day. In this
situation, Maybelline provides the solution by introducing Fit Me, a technologically advanced
formula, which is light on skin, does not look heavy like other foundations. Simultaneously, it
covers all the blemishes and help to look presentable every day. The product is available in
various shades coving the requirement of varied skin type as well. As mentioned before, it
helps to attain a flawless look on face maintaining the PH balance without leaving a heavy
feeling. The product and company details are available on company websites. Besides,
various traditional policies can be undertaken to supply and increase the sales (Chen, Fang &
Wen, 2013).I can provide customers with necessary information and company brochure will
be an efficient medium to satisfy customer queries about the product.
Conclusion
In order to play a role of Sales employee, I need to keep product details and the
problem it resolves. The target market and their dynamic preferences must be considered
while doing the market analysis. According to present scenario, women are more interested to
look beautiful without giving much effort and that is the objective of the product.
