INTRPODUCTION
Project management is a complete process of managing the whole project. This report
is based on managing the whole project. In assessment 1 stages like investigate the project,
project management plan and critical analysis of each stage involve with the project
management plan will be discussed. Furthermore, in assessment 2 critical success factor
learnt in order to implement the whole project will be discussed. What is the lesson learnt
while managing the whole project will also discuss in this part of project. Necessary
recommendations will also provide to improve the project outcome.
ASSESSMENT 1
Project Initiation Document (PID)
PID is the document in which the project is clearly laying out in the justification for a
project where all the key elements of the project included (Walker, 2015). This also provide a
brief overview of all the essential elements which will going to be cover in the chosen
project. For Salisbury House, the PID will be as mentioned below:
Purpose The purpose of the project is to create a new and additional teaching
facilities for increasing number of students so that they can enjoy the
teaching.
Scope With the help of this project, University can easily attract new students
and this contribute to build the brand reputation within a market.
Offering the best variety of services to students makes them able to enjoy
teaching and improve their learning as well. Further, another scope of
this project is such that it will help to improve the overall performance of
students and offer all the facilities in new building (Meredith, Shafer
and Mantel Jr, 2017).
Background University of Wales Trinty Saint David wants to acquire new building
block known as Salisbury House. Through this, campus wants to create
an additional teaching facilities to their students so that they can improve
their learning. As the staff members of the university keep increasing
and there is a need to provide enough facilities to them as well. For that,
there is a need to provide effective facilities which assists to attract range

of new customers and staff members.
Objectives The main objectives of developing this project are as mentioned below:
 To provide best facilities to the staff members and students so
that they can be easily attracted.
 Campus provide extra facilities to their member so that they can
improve the business performance and staff members can easily
offer the best facilities to their members.
 To improve the brand image of the campus by offering best
variety of services which help to stay competitive in market.
Assumption  Project manager get all the resources which is required by in
order to meet the defined aim (Clough,Sears and Sears, 2020).
 All the relevant stakeholders also keep attending the meeting and
this in turn causes positive impact because it assist to generate
better outcome.
 The hired team members also have enough skills which assists to
meet the defined aim of the study.
Dependencies All the defined task are depend upon each other such that it is mentioned
in Gantt chart where all the project dependencies can be analysed
effectively. Through this, project manager make decision and identify
whether the project will be completed within a defined tenure.
Constraints  Not meet the defined tenure as decided in the project will
considered as a constraints
 Over budget is also recognized as a key constraint and it affect
the result.
 The quality of choosing the resources is considered another
constraints for the project.
Time The project will be completed within …………..days as mentioned in
Gantt chart.
Quality All the chosen resources needs to be skilled and must have an ability to
meet the defined aim. For example, the chosen team members for the
project needs to possess strong ability to manage the tough work so that

it do not cause any negative manner.
Stakeholders The key stakeholders involved in this project includes government,
University, project manager so that effective they can share their views
pertaining to the project and realize the need of any changes as well
(Sears and et.al., 2015).
Risk There are many risk involves within a project such that:
 Not meet the defined time and this might be due to not tracking
the performance of an employees
 Compromise in the quality of chosen resources that might also
affected the entire project in negative manner.
 One of the team members might fall ill and this in turn cause
negative impact over the project because the objectives of the
project cannot be meet.

Project management plan is comprises with the different stages that involve initiation,
planning, execution, performance/ monitoring and project closure. All these stages allow the
manager to implement the whole project in the most prominent manner. All these stages will
allow the Salisbury to implement the entire project effectively by considering all different
needs and requirements associated with the project.
Project initiation
The project manager will create a project charter at this stage. In the initial stage
manager demonstrate and clarify why the project is necessary and required. The benefits that
[potentially will generate out of the project execution will also discuss at this stage of project
initiation. All the various key stakeholder groups will be discussed in this stage. Stakeholders
become a crucial part of any project in the execution project and at this level all key
stakeholders that will necessarily become a part of the project will be discussed. The manager

also pitch the whole project in front of the necessary stakeholder group involve with the
project (Oleinik, 2018). Proper communication is established with the stakeholders so that
need and requirement of the project is directed to all the stakeholder group associated with
the project. All the potential benefits that this project can generate are communicated with
the stakeholders group at this level. The manger further runs the feasibility study of the whole
project at this level. Feasibility study comprises the fact that how feasible is the entire project
is for the organisation. Feasibility study of the project decides whether the project plan
finalised by the manager is sufficient enough to provide the final project outcome or objective
finalised in the whole project. Team is also assembled at this level with the support of human
resources and employees associated with the University of Wales Trinty Saint David
(UWTSD) London. The project plan is further submitted for approval at this level. This stage
is a comprehensive stage involve with the entire project management practice. The basic aim
is to set all the aim and objective of the project and gain approval from the stakeholders to
initiate the whole project.
Planning
The project planning is an important phase of the project management practice in
which entire planning is coordinated with all stakeholders involve with the project. This
phase involve creation and analysis of the business case. The identification is also conducted
about all the potential stakeholders that will become a part of the project management
practice. Meeting with stakeholders is also conducted to finalise the approval of the
project. The manager also defines the scope of the project at this level. Project goals and
scope of the project that potentially will address are also set by the manager at this stage of
the project management practice (Layton, Ostermiller and Kynaston, 2020). All the project
deliverable associated with the project will be finalised at this level of project management
practice. The manager further creates the project schedule and milestone in order to
implement the whole project further. Task assessment is also executed at this level. Quality
iof the project will assess by the manager and on the basis of the quality analysis risk
assessment is conducted by the manager. Planning is among the crucial phase associated with
the project management practice coordinate by the manager. The panning also involve
identify about the budgeted time that will be require to implement the whole project.
Planning is among the most crucial phase of project management cycle as this coordinates the
overall success of the project. All activities further initiate by the project manager is based on
the planning conducted and finalised in order to execute the entire project.

Execution
Execution phase is a stage involve in the project life cycle at which the action is taken
a place in against to conduct a project panning. This stage is very crucial as the success and
failure of any project is highly based on how efficiently the project has been executed.
Resource management and human resource management is also conducted at this level
on a continuous basis so that proper execution of the whole project can take in place. Team
members are also organise at this level so that all roles and responsibilities associated with
the project is segregated into the team members who carry the skill and ability to execute the
respective project activity (Nzunda, 2021). Timeline of the project is managed as there are
such tasks that require extra time to complete and there are some task who can complete
before the set deadline. So the project manager try to balance the timeline involve with the
project. Execution of te project phase also involve ensuring that proper quality is maintained
at each stage of project life cycle. This is essential that the manager make sure that quality of
every project stage must be utmost by nature so that better control over executing can
establish by the management. The execution of any project is based on certain fundamental
that involve project’s products, timescale, cost, quality and benefits arises out of the
project. Execution is a phase that will cherish the fact whether the management will be able
to achieve the set aim and objective behind the project is executed (Miranda and Helia,
2020). There are certain components that become a part of project execution which involve
scope definitions, goal statements, quality and technical specifications, resource allocation,
project scheduling and organisational consideration. All these components become the basis
to execute the final project.
Performance / monitoring
Performance is about to analysis the execution phase of the project life cycle. This is a
stage where the project manager compares the execution and its quality. The comparison is
drawn between the expected outcome against the project is executed and the actual outcome
that is received to implement and execute the all project. The comparison is drawn by the
manger are based on risk, budgeted time, quality of the project, benefits realisation and
other respective aspects and standards associated with the project. On the basis of the
strategies that are performed so far manger identify the preventive or necessary actions that
needs to be done in order to improve the significance of the whole project for the University
of Wales Trinty Saint David (UWTSD) London. The management try to identify the potential

areas that need some improvement during or after the execution is completed. These actions
play an important role in improving the potential outcomes of the project (Nicholas and

Project closure
Project closure is the final stage involve in the project life cycle. This is a stage where
the final delivery of the project is verified by the manager. After submission of the final
deliverables project manager will coordinate with the University of Wales Trinity Saint
David (UWTSD) London as they have received the final delivery of the whole project.
Closeout meeting is also coordinated by the manger with the key stakeholder group involve
with the project. The project manager releases the whole team and materials that become a
part of the whole project. The team members are also facilitate at this stage and materials are
clearly verify and releases by the manager with support of the supply management of the
project (Derobert and Lantheaume, 2021). The project manager also needs to ensure that the
document of the project is clearly filled. Proper signatures are also taken about the
completion of the project. Final settlement is also completed at this level. Project closure is a
stage on which the entire project has been completed by the management. Stakeholders also
verify the quality of project as well.

Presenting the chosen methodology for the project
There are many project management methodology used by management as per the
situation. In the context of present study, project manager will use waterfall project
management methodology because it is a step by step process which help to meet the defined
aim. The rationale for choosing this method over other is such that it help to generate a better
outcome. Also, it can be stated that with the help of this methodology, company can speed
up the overall performance by involving all the stakeholders (Cleland, 2017 ). However, in
the critically not it has been analysed that outcome can be generated in a crystal clear manner
so that effective results might be generated
As per the chosen methodology, it has been analysed that Salisbury House wants to
provide bets variety of products to their staff members and students. This is possible because
at each stage, project manager easily test the key point and this in turn help to derive best
outcome for the project. Also, sometime, it might be difficult for the manager to involve
whole members and define the same to them (Thesing, Feldmann and Burchardt, 2021).
However, another rationale for choosing this methodology is such that it provide deal with an
issue of designing and this in turn causes positive impact over the results. In addition to this,
waterfall project management is considered one of the best methodology for the project
because it is a traditional method which provide effective outcome and make teach members
aligned with the set goals and objectives as well. Opting this methodology over other will
help to meet the defined aim.
The methodology is simple to use and easy to understand and that is why, project
manager can easily improve the results and create a better outcome for Salisbury House as
well. Opting this over other derive best outcome because in each phase project manager can
easily make testing to design process so that best outcome can be generated. That is why,
Waterfall methodology is far beneficial from other in order to offer services to their new staff
members and students as well.
