Introduction
This project will be based on developing a new building block- Salisbury House around the main
building in London campus. As due to growing number of students and to create administration
offices for staff, The University of Wales Trinity Saint David will be opening a new building
block to meet those requirements which will be established near the min building of campus
itself (Aanbari, 2018) . Through developing a new building, the plan will be offering additional
teaching rooms, administrative office, reception, classrooms, lecturers office, students lounge,
toilet facilities and kitchenette.
Critical success or failure factors
The project management includes different factors needed for assessing the work effectively.
The documentation of different takeaways from project managers is impossible and that is why
they are conducted effectively. In present context, it is evaluated that project activities must be
completed in time. This can be done only by preparing a proper procedure and having a timeline
to complete the work. There is need to manage the proper analysis in order to develop strong
building in campus (Bjorvatn, and Wald, 2018). It is concluded that this project was done
effectively by using all the considerations properly and management of work was also effective.
There is need for evaluating the project management activities. Project management is the
practical application of processes, skills, methods and knowledge along with the experience that
helps an individual in achieving the specific objectives or targets according to the criteria of the
project acceptance within certain parameters. The process of project management consists of five
phases that are conception and initiation, planning, execution, monitoring and closure or ending
of the project. The purpose of project management is to plan and manage a project for its
successful completion in order to get desired results. In the present context, a project of
developing administrative office for staff is created which is based on the development of a new-
building block, that is, Salisbury House around main building in London campus. It has been
analysed that the project is completed in the successful manner and there are some main
constraints that plays a key role in the success of project. These constraints are described as
under in context to the completion of the project:
Stakeholders: They are the persons who have attended project meetings as requested by the
project manager, reviews and approve the process deliverables as well as provide subject matter

expertise to the project team. The main role is to help a company in meeting its strategic
objectives by contributing their experience as well as perspective to a project. In the existing
project, the key stakeholders are students, teachers, trustees, government and authorities, etc. All
these stakeholders play an important role in completion of the project as they provide guidance
and direction at each stage of the project that how a particular thing can be done in a best way
(Filippetto, Lima, R. and Barbosa, 2021).
Budget: It is a statement of estimated revenues and expenditures over a particular period of time.
Budget is a plan that how an amount of money can be spend and is used for planning, organising,
classifying, presenting, analysing and interpreting the financial position of company or a project.
In this present project, budget has been an essential part in the process of allocating the funds to
a particular area (Galli, 2018). For creating an administrative office for staff, funds have been
required in the project that helped in knowing the amount to be spent on each component of the
project. In this project, funds have been required for the furniture, structure of the building,
interior designing and many more.
Time: In context to project management, time management is very essential because it helps in
managing the time as well as activities in a particular period of time to accomplish all the
activities that are associated with the project. Assigning time to a specific task is very important
for timely completion of the project and it enables the breaking down of the whole project into
different tasks (Rodríguez-Rivero, Díaz-Barcos, and Lozano, 2020). In this existing project,
time management is one of the key aspect that helps in accomplishing the different tasks of the
respective project in an effective manner. In this project, a particular time frame is allocated to
each task of the project such as duration of time has been allocated for developing structure of
the building for the proper scheduling and examining the completion of project.
Quality: It is considered as what the customer or stakeholders require from the project
deliverables (Goel, Ganesh,and Kaur, 2020) . Quality in project management refers to a degree to
which a set of in-built features directly fulfil the requirements. In present context, Total quality
management technique have been used in project that helped in maintaining records of all
resources that have been used in accomplishment of project. Superior quality of material has
been used in the creation of administrative office in the existing project.

Lesson learnt
The project management includes the description of different activities and tasks included for
accomplishing the work. In present context, this is analysed that this project is associated with
building block in the university (Hasan, Rameezdeen, and Baroudi, 2019). There are several
risks that this project faced while working upon this. The project needs to have several materials
and requirements which included external factors too. There is budget developed for this project
in which all activities are completed properly.
 Identification of project – This is important that project must be completed within
specified time frame and there are less challenges while working upon it. There is a
proper planning required within project management as it helps to avoid various
challenges and cope up from them (Koke, and Moehler, 2019). In the present project, it
is talked about development of building. There is a proper planning required for
completing the pre reading information for developing project properly.
 Brainstorming sessions – It is essential that brainstorming sessions are held within team
members. These will help to manage the working effectively and attaining the project
goals. These sessions provide an analysis for knowing what went wrong in the project
and how it can be done properly. Basically the most important thing is to share lessons
for whole team in the management of project.
 Analysis of project – The project is properly analysed as it helps to work upon future
projects. This provides benefit to the project leader for assessing the main requirements
and needs for completing the project effectively. There are various possibilities of
reaching research outcomes as these help in managing the project more perfectly.
 Retrieve – When projects is accomplished, there are various chances of searching the
lesson and avoiding mistakes. The project managers have to manage project planning
projects and capturing information from the project teams. The planning of construction
of building has taken place as per the planning and that is why it was easy to capture the
work accomplishments within time.
 Stakeholder analysis must be conducted – This is evaluated that stakeholder analysis
must be properly analysed in order to know the importance of them within this project.
For the university project, it is evaluated that stakeholders are taken in consideration and
this has helped to manage the effectiveness of project properly.

Recommendations
The project is accomplished within time with the help of effective budgets, labour and
technology. They use specific knowledge, skills, techniques and tools in order to complete it in
effective manner. This project recommends that companies use effective strategy in order to
complete task in effective manner. This makes companies use new technology, skilled labour,
more time, innovative idea as well as more budget in order to manage future projects in effective
manner (McLaren,. and Loosemore, 2019). In changing world, technologies are modified daily,
it makes company to work effectively in future in order to complete their task and improve their
productivity in effective manner. Skilled labours play an important role in order to complete
project in effective manner. They help them to complete project by reducing wastage and time in
effective manner. In order to complete project in effective manner, they need more time in order
make each and every part of this project are completed effectively in future. It is important for
the company to use top quality raw materials in order to make project strong and effective and
can be used for long term purpose. They can use innovative and creative ideas in their projects in
order to make their project more innovative and effective in nature. For completing project on
time, budget is important and specific part of the project (Obradović, Todorović, and Bushuyev,
2018). By using more and effective budget in the project help company in purchasing of raw
material, paying labour cost and for specific things which is required in order to complete task in
effective manner. Effective communication is also needed while working in project in order to
complete it (Picciotto, 2020). It helps them to send and receive relevant information to other
workers in order to complete project effectively in future. All these things make company
productive and effective for completing task in future.
Reflection
There is need to manage own skills for working upon different projects. There are various ways
to manage the working and manufacturing the products effectively. There is need to manage
project skills in order to accomplish the target and goals in time. I think it is very essential for me
to develop research skills. I have to pursue my career in project management and that is why I
think this is essential for me to focus upon management of research skills. The project
management skills are known as competencies as well as traits that I need to properly coordinate
a project from start to finish. I need to lead a project in future and that is why it is important to

have good communication, motivational skills, interpersonal skills and also organisational skills.
There is need for encompassing wide range of skills and responsibilities for planning projects
and mapping out timelines in execution phase of project. I know I have to work in groups and
manage initiation, planning and execution. As a project manager, I will be responsible for
initiation and execution of a project. I have to motivate team and manage the expectations from
stakeholders. I also have to communicate with various stakeholders in order to have sustainable
projects. Strong leadership is also an essential skill that will help me to develop coordination and
motivation among employees. Through the use of effective leadership, it will be easy for me to
exchange ideas and come up with effective plans for completing the projects. Communication
skills are also important and these are critical for a leader like me to include this in managing
different projects. There is need to share ideas and work through issues which are coming up
with project. I have to enhance my communication skills for analysing the effectiveness of
teamwork within my project. Different group of people including vendors, clients and team
members have to be managed while working for a project. I have realised that project
development and execution will run smooth if project is having a deadline. This will ensure that
all project activities are completed in specified time frame. I know that it is important for me to
work on time and attain success. There is need to involve problem solving skills within one self
for avoiding any kind of challenge. I as the manager thinks that there is need for planning all
processes effectively for attaining goals and objectives. I think I have to develop problem solving
skills for getting through all problems on my own. When there are more number of people and
they had to work together, there are high chances of conflicts. Problem solving will provide me
the access to manage them effectively and provide them ability to work together. There is need
for having a structured method in order to solve various problems. I have known the reason of
managing information and coming up with several solutions needed for quick decisions. Risk
management is also a necessary skill which I have and it is used for identifying the problems and
making them accomplish the whole project. Negotiation skills have to be managed properly so
that I can be able to use diplomacy as the most important part of team work. Technology is
known as one of the best way for evaluating project. I think I should have hard and soft skills
that will help me to organise all projects activities. Task management is the important factor
which is focused upon while managing the work. As the project manager, I have to ensure that
there are different ways of interpretation on spreadsheets and graphs. I have to develop and

improvise the research skills for changing and redirecting team members for a better result. I
think while working at an organisation, it is important for me to understand the needs and
requirements of the project to make accomplishments. The majority of projects needs to have
effective functioning so that goals can be attained. I think for becoming a good leader and
motivator, it is important to have right type of skill and get my job done. I think this is so
essential for me to focus upon budget management and as every project has a budget and all
project activities have to be completed perfectly within provided budget. I have to manage
process development so that project can be completed within specified time. There are various
processes including invoicing, employee review, reporting and evaluation. I have always focused
upon timeline as it provides the access for managing project completion within specified time
frame. I am responsible for drafting a project and making a perfect project. I understand that one
can learn professionalism by completing projects in a precise manner. I have learnt that time
management is the most important factor which helps an individual to complete all tasks and
functions on time. I consider that in management of a project, skills like decision making and
problems helps an individual to grow in a sustainable manner. The individual should also
implement various tools and techniques related to project development in order accomplish
project within a short time period. All the activities that are carried out by me during the project
were managed in a well and systematic manner. I personally understand that there is a crucial
role played by a supervisor as there are various responsibility. I have learned that an individual
must develop a systematic strategy which is important for developing appropriate frame work
related to planning. I have gained knowledge about risk management in construction in this
project.
I also learned team management skills which are important for me to manage large
number of workforce in the company. I will also develop several upcoming projects with the
help of my learnings. The development of skills in a systematic manner is the most crucial task
of the supervisor. In order to manage all employees with utmost responsibility, I started to use
leadership styles in my working. I applied democratic leadership style during my work because it
includes participation of employees in decision making. This helps in formulating a technique
which is helpful in minimising risk associated with the operations in a sustainable manner. I also
developed crucial knowledge related to project management while I was completing my project.
Management skills are also most important part of organisational and project development, so I

also developed effective managerial skills with the support of professionals. I also consider that
project management is helpful in developing a competency edge in management of different
projects in the company. The project management is major responsibility according to me and it
should be ethical responsibility of supervisor to develop good strategy in order to complete the
project. I also developed communication skills during this project which were very effective.
These skills also helped me to maintain effective coordination in the organisation. Also the
presence of hard and soft skills in me supported me to complete the project on time. In order to
develop more efficient communication skills, it is major role of a person to take assistance of
seniors.
