Introduction
The report will be discussing the Corporate Social Responsibility as adopted by the
company Samsung in the countries Korea and Australia. The home country of Samsung is Korea
and it has its operations in various parts of the globe, hence, the report has thereby selected
Australia to make comparisons between the operations related to the CSR has adopted by
Samsung.
Corporate Social responsibility can be defined as the formation and integration of socially
beneficial programs in the organization. These programs and practices function with the aim of
increasing the goodwill and profits of the company in the long run (Rangan, Chase and Karim
2015). CSR enables the different business enterprises to become more efficient in nature and
gain the appraisal of the society for its consistent efforts.
The report will be following a structured format whereby the benefits and advantages of
CSR will be discussed followed by the different CSR Strategies as followed by the Samsung
Company in its home country and in Australia. Based on this recommendations will be provided.

Samsung`s Corporate Social Responsibility Activities in Korea
The organization, Samsung electronics carries out a diverse range of corporate social
responsibility activities in Korea. The primary areas of operation with respect to the company`s
operations range in four sectors which comprise of healthcare, education, environment and
employment (Kramer 2007). It goes a long way in assisting the society to solve the different
fundamental problems. The different CSR programs of Samsung in Korea are as follows:
Building Libraries
The company has built various libraries around the country in Korea because they believe
it is their duty that the different children need to have a cleaner environment with adequate
resources. The company has opened various libraries around the globe and many in Korea as
well.
Book donation
With the different libraries have been built around the country, the next step in the given
domain was to fill these libraries with the books. Samsung contributed various resources in these
libraries.
Technical schools
The engineering department of the Samsung Company has provided funds for building
several technical schools in Korea in order to be able to provide it with adequate educational
facilities (Samsung.com. 2018).

Junior Eco Engineering Academy
The company has launched an eco-engineering Academy back in 2017, which helps the
students to fulfill their dreams and achieve their chosen objectives.
Moreover, the company has various health and nutrition program in place as well. All the
CSR activities of the company tend to find its home in Korea and after the considerable success,
the programs are launched in other parts of the Globe.
Samsung`s Corporate Social Responsibility Activities in Australia
The Samsung Electronics Company in Australia tends to offer a large variety of
Corporate Social Activities to the different residents. The company works along with different
organizations and communities. Recently, the company conducted operations with the Social
Ventures Australia to provide STEM education opportunities along with resources for the
differently disabled students in the communities (McWilliams 2015). The different school
students in Australia often suffer from social problems and fail to receive basic literacy, and
hence, along with the SVA, the Samsung organization formed the Bright Spots School in order
to bring about an initiative for the students. The different characteristics features of Bright Spots
is as follows:

Therefore, it can be stated that there lies a strong relationship between the corporate

tend to assist the firm in improving its image and attract viewers (Schwartz 2017). When these
viewers and the audience in general tend to realize the importance the society is making to then,
the sales of the company automatically tends to increase and this then contribute towards the
long term goal achievement.
Recommendations
After the given analysis the following recommendations can be made:
1. The employees play a key role in the CSR Activities
Samsung needs to understand that the different employees tend to play a key role in the
Corporate Social Responsibility Implementation dimension. Hence, if the sense of vision is fairly
incorporated in the different employees, it is believed that they will be performing well for the
long term growth and learning of the organization.
2. Transparency needs to be practiced
Samsung needs to ensure that it maintains transparency in the practices and that it
maintains proper records. This will help in assisting the firm to achieve its objectives and also
maintain a clear picture in the chosen organization (Samsung.com. 2018). The company needs to
see to it that it is being able to show the stakeholders the different activities it is engaging in as it
helps the company to portray trust factor in the system.
