Globalisation is the process in which there is coordination among individuals,
organisations in more than one country. There are many changes which are taking place in
external market, so it is important to understand changes in order to deal with specific
operations. At global level, there are many factors which has to be considered by managers to get
positive impact such as competitive organisations, cost of expansion, etc. There are possibilities
of drawbacks as well of working at global level if managers do not keep regular analysis on
change in operations (Auer, Borio and Filardo, 2017).
This research is based on Samsung which is big brand in Electronic sector. This
association was founded in 1938 having head quarter in South Korea. This association deals in
Apparel, consumer electronics, medical equipment’s, telecommunication, home appliances, etc.
This association deals in different parts of country under globalisation.
Overview of research
Samsung deals in electronics sector providing refrigerator, washing machine, television,
etc. As there are many organisations dealing in same sector such as Videocon, Sony, etc. so,
there is competitive environment among them. In order to make distant image in industry, there
is requirement of regular change in product and services. With regular modification in products
and services, it is easy to expand in international market (Coker, 2014). Samsung is famous
brand in consumable electronics and home appliances, so in this case it is responsibility of
managers to analyse demand of consumers because it differs as per occasion, individual, income
level, etc.
In this research, there is discussion about benefits and drawbacks of performing business
at global level. As there are many external environment factors which affects business, so it is
responsibility of managers of Samsung to analyse them and conduct business activities
accordingly. In global business environment, political parties, legal factors, social factors, etc.
are considered. So these are the factors which affects performance of business.

LITERATURE REVIEW
Concept of globalisation
According to John Williamson, (2019) globalisation refers to the process through which
there is integration among markets, individuals, organisations and different countries. In order to
globalise business, there is requirement of following proper political, legal aspects which helps
in sustaining for longer period of time in industry. There is requirement of different resources to
conduct business at international level such as financial resources, human resources, etc. This
helps to conduct business operations smoothly. While expansion of business in other country, it
is important to consider availability of resources, labour rate, establishment cost, etc. So this
helps to achieve economies of scale. With working at international level, managers of Samsung
are able to understand cross culture information about different countries. Sometimes, there is
scarcity of resources in some countries which may affect working style of Samsung at foreign
country (Zajda, 2015).
Benefits and drawbacks of global business environment
Global business environment consists of three words i.e. global, business and
environment. Global business environment refers to performing business operations at
international level for earning good amount of money. According to Allison Tanner, 2019 at
global level, there are more risk which has to be considered in order to make more scope of
growth for association. There are some advantages and issues for organisations to work at global
business environment. Benefits of global business environment are-
More scope of sales and profits- When business operations are conducted in more than
one country then sales gets improved. As there is competition in electronic sector, so in order to
deal with it and get positive impact through it managers of Samsung has to launch new
techniques in products. It is important to make alterations in products and services so consumer
satisfaction can be achieved. Customer base gets improved with expansion of business.
Availability of raw material- There is requirement of different raw materials for
manufacturing of products and services such as plastic, copper, etc. So when business operates at
global level, managers of Samsung can get best stuff for their finished goods. This helps to make
their product different from others.

These are the factors which enhance growth of Samsung at international level. Benefits
can be availed by organisation, when there is regular market analyse of external factors because
external changes are taking place with rapid speed.
Apart from this there are possibilities of negative impact of global business environment.
Some of them are discussed as under-
Difference in consumer demand- This is biggest drawback of conducting business
operations at intentional level that there is variation in demand of consumers. So this proves to
be costly approach for Samsung. Sometimes they are not able to judge what is demand of
consumers and present something different which affects image of Samsung in mind of
consumers (Eaton and Kilby, 2015).
Change in legal policies- There is difference in legal factors of various countries which
is issue of Samsung in expansion. For instance: managers of Samsung are thinking to launch
business in Europe, then there are some legal aspects which has to be considered to get
successful running of business.
Impact of benefits and drawbacks of global business environment on Samsung
According to Katie Reyonalds, 2017 there is requirement of more new and innovative
approaches through which they can get outshine in industry. With the help of globalisation,
Samsung will not only be able to increase their profits but will also make an improvement in the
current market share of the company. The impact will also be related to the production. As
Samsung will easily get access to the raw materials needed to run the production process, so this
will also ensure proper and smooth running of the business.
On the other hand, the drawbacks of globalisation will also impact upon the business of
Samsung. As the first could be the adoption of the new culture in the new country which could
not be easily adopted by any company. In case Samsung fails than it will create a negative
impact on the working of Samsung in the new place.

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
Research is the process through which in- depth investigation about research topic can be
done. So there are many techniques which has to be considered which are studied under research
methodology. So research methodology is the systematic plan for conducting resaerch.
“Research Onion” is the frame work which describes different techniques used in research and
justification behind it (Fjäder, 2014).
In this research, interpretivist philosophy is used. This is the technique in which responds
of individuals are analysed to get knowledge about research topic. This is the way
through which it is easy to understand reason of change in view of candidates.
Deductive research is chosen for the selected topic. This is selected because this fits best
with interpretivist approach as it also focusses on core components from research topic. It
helps to give more emphasis on research aims and objectives to get positive outcome.
There are two methods of conducting research i.e. qualitative and quantitative research.
in this research, qualitative research is used (Hasanen, Al-Kandari and Al-Sharoufi,
2014). This is the way through which representation of collected data is clear through
graphical and pictorial representation. Under qualitative research, information is
collected, gathered and presented in more clear and structured format. With collecting
data through qualitative method, reason behind specific view about research topic is
clear.
There are two sources of collecting information i.e. primary and secondary information.
Primary information is collected by respondents about research topic from respondents.
This data is fresh content gathered from respondents about research topic. While
secondary sources are used to collect information with the help of online sources, books,
journals, newspaper, magazines, etc. With collecting information from this sources all
information about research topic is collected and it is easy to get data about research
objectives. In this research, both the methods are used which helps to make research more
clear and authentic for reader.
In order to collect primary data, questionnaire is the technique which is used. This is the
way in which some questions are asked about research topic with individuals. This gives
overview about opinion of individuals.

Sampling is the method which is used to collect some respondents for collecting their
views about research topic (Miljkovic and et. al., 2015). It is not possible to gather
information from whole crowd. Hence in this case some individuals are selected which is
known as data sampling. There are two methods of collecting samples i.e. random and
non-random sampling. In this investigation, non-random sampling is used. This method is
best because this is the way through which non biased information is collected as
individuals are selected on random basis so possibilities of biasness are less.
Budget required to conduct this research is £400 because there is requirement of some
resources such as stationary, internet connection, membership at library, etc.
This research is conducted with considering all the aspects of ethics such as
confidentiality, consent of respondents, etc. And information which is collected from
secondary sources are authentic and reliable (Thomas, 2017).

TIMELINE OF RESEARCH ACTIVITIES
Time is one of the most important factor which has to be considered by investigator in
context of research. As there are main activities such as introduction, setting aims and objectives,
etc. which has to be conducted while conducting research. So there is requirement of specific
time bound technique through which whole research can be concluded on time. Gantt chart is the
technique which is used to analyse time required to complete research activities. This technique
is launched with Henry Gantt, an American engineer and project management consultant who
makes easy to analyse time required to conduct research activities (Yu, Byun and Lee, 2014).
Gantt chart is the graphical representation of research activities horizontally with their
respective time. Gantt has information about start and end date of each activity, so it is easy to
set short term milestones and synchronisation of activities can be achieved. This is the best way
to identify dependencies of research activities on one another. Researcher is able to understand
which activities has to be assigned to each individuals which is important to identify roles and
responsibilities. This research is completed within around 8 weeks.
