recent business theory. It helps in free flow of goods and services in the global
market. It significantly enhances the economical welfare globally. In this paper, we

project management plan for Samsung influencing the various factors affecting the
UK market. The study ensures a small-scale research study in order to gather
information and data, and generate knowledge on the hypothesis. The brief analysis
of the research data using appropriate tools and techniques will draw out the
effective conclusions to the project management objectives.
The concerned project management has therefore taken the well-known Samsung
brand, headquartered in “Seocho-gu”, Seoul (North Korea) as the organisation
expanding in the UK market. Its annual revenue is 61.54 billion in U.S dollars
(Samsung UK,2019).
It has intended to launch its product in UK. The project manager tends to create his
aims and objectives with an analytical research study in order to succeed in the
project successfully.

LO2: Qualitative and quantitative research methods
P4
Various research methodologies have been employed in order to ascertain the
profitability of the project. In this section, the qualitative and quantitative research
methods opted for the survey have been discussed. It aims to determine the ability of
the project to generate revenue for the company in the UK mobile industry. Even
though there are several methods to collect the qualitative data for a survey,
interview and ethnographic approach have been used to collect the qualitative data
in this small-scale study. Owing to the small size of this survey, there are 50
participants in the sample. Interview is conducted with the help of a questionnaire,
whereby questions are designed in a way that would enable the respondents to
answer according to the topic. It is assumed during an interview that the respondents
have an idea about the topic, and they will provide an honest view of their opinion.
On the other hand, ethnographic approach is the methodical approach of studying
people and the culture related with them (Lindolf and Taylor, 2017). This research
method is designed to discover the cultural phenomenon of the people in the society.
Qualitative Research
Qualitative research can be defined as an empirical research, whereby the data
obtained is not in anenumerative form (Silverman, 2016). Qualitative approach
follows an explanatory, realistic and simplistic approach to the subject of the topic.
For the purpose of this research, the qualitative data has been obtained from the
business analyst of the mobile industry in the UK. The business analyst has been
subject to an interview, and an attempt has been made to gain an idea about his
perspective on the industry. The analyst was subjected to the following questions:
Q1. What is the future of the mobile industry in the UK?
Q2. What are the recent trends in the mobile industry?
Q3. What factors do the consumers in the UK consider before purchasing a
product in the mobile industry?
Q4. What perspectives do the UK consumers have about Samsung as a brand?
Q5. What steps can be taken by Samsung to build on the competition in the
market?
Q6. What factors influence customers in the age group 55-75 to own a
smartphone?
Q7. What economic and social issues can Samsung face post expansion in the
market?
Q8. What impact will globalisation have on the mobile industry in the UK?
Q9. What environmental impact does Samsung have in the UK market?
