Write a 500 word academic discussion on your chosen organisation’s general external
environment and analyse the impact of one real-life dimension in its general external
environment in 2017/2018.
The external environment refers to the surroundings or the factors which are included
externally which may impact on the organisation's performance and strategies (Sanitarium
Health and Wellbieng 2018). These external factors are the real assessment criteria for the
companies to get success. The company selected for this assessment is The Sanitarium Health
and Wellbieng Company (Sanitarium Health and Wellbieng 2018). The Company deals in the
food or it is a food company. The external environment of the company influences its
strategies and has an impact on its operations.
The external environment of the company may include some general yet important factors
which are-
Political- The political factor is the sequence of laws and political practices in the country
which impacts the organisations (Boasson and Wettestad 2016, p. 45). These are the
regulations which are imposed by the government. Some of the important laws such as Fair
Trading laws and tax laws are included in this.
Economic- The economic factors are those in which some of the elements of the economy
are included (Boasson and Wettestad 2016, p. 45). These are the factors related to the
economy of a country. The economic factors are inflation, employment-unemployment rates,
exchange rates, poverty etc. these factors impact on the organisation and its strategies.
Socio-cultural- The socio-cultural factors include the factors related to the society such as
values, trends, customs and traditions (Hueske et al. 2015). The population and people living
at the place include such things.
Technological- The technological factors include factors which affect the company on the
basis of destroyed technology and changes in technology. The latest technology may impact
on the decision as well as the different factor of the technical issue may also impact the same
(Hueske et al. 2015).

International and Global- The global or international factors may the factors of global
threats, economy, and cultural boundation.
The recent deal of the company, The Sanitarium Health and Wellbieng Company on the
external factor of Technological is analysed. This factor provides the recent impact on the
company for being the degraded in the latest technology. As the time has changed and all the
companies are becoming online available and contacting the customers through various
media. Sanitarium Health and Wellbieng Company left behind in this as they did not have an
online website where they can contact to their customers no digital media was opted by the
company for communication with customers (Hueske et al. 2015). This impacted their
operations and profit as well. The overall impact of this has provided a big opportunity to the
company to be on the internet and also provided a loss of technical assistance. These external
factors were and are successful in impacting the company to an extreme level (Hueske et al.
2015). This also creates a problem in the expansion of the business.
